I've always liked this comic's version of the Xenomorph's origins. It's simple, logical, and it has already happened here on Earth. You take a species that had natural balances and checks and move them into a new enviorment, they will spread and wreak havoc in the area. The canon version though fascinating, just felt way too complicated and that they tried too hard to be intelligent. Sometimes, just keeping it simple is the best way.
What if Aliens are as dangerous as moths on their home planet? What if the thing we call The Perfect Organism is nothing more than a small fish in a pond, and that's why they live in hives, basically like a swarm of fish using numbers as protection of the species. If they are not the top of the food chain on their home planet, it's really intriguing to think what that top consists of...
I don't know. The actions of the aliens in the first two films seems a little too... sapient to just boil it down to being an invasive species. (On the other hand, at least it's not the origin of being a weapon of judgement by fickle alien-gods that feels like a poor and ego-blown attempt to copy Greek mythology)
You still don't understand what you're dealing with, do you? The perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility. I admire its purity. A survivor... unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality. I can't lie to you about your chances, but... you have my sympathies.
I've watched this entire playlist now. Your work putting this together and narrating it is amazing. I just want to say thank you, it's been a brilliant way to hear this story.
orignaly i started the playlist as background noise while i did other stuff, but slowly i got hooked that i restarted the whole playlist and actually paid close attention. now i look forward to every time you upload
Yes this one was pretty neat! As deadly and horrifically bizarre as the xenomorph is I’ve always enjoyed the idea of a home world and wish there was more to know about how such an environment could produce such a heinous species and keep it in check. The idea of xenomorph predators interest me especially and it’s a shame no expanded material has looked more into that idea.
It does poke at the imagination. An environment that would allow for these things to exist in some sort of balance would be interesting to explore. Be cool to see the kind of predators that would be necessary to allow for the Xenomorphs to exist, but not overrun their world.
I’d assume its a world without a magnetosphere, where there’s no protection from the radiation of the system’s sun or space itself, where mutation and hyper fast evolution is the norm, and creatures evolved to adapt to both the harsh conditions and the ever changing predators as quickly as possible, hence both the Aliens extremely tough exoskeleton and their gene stealing birth cycle. It’s what gives me hope for the nonsense of Prometheus and Covenant getting fixed one day. If the Engineers found a world where evolution is constantly in a hyperactive state, then found a species there that had adapted to manipulate and control that evolution at a molecular level, it’d make sense that they’d want to take that creature and use it to help with their own terraforming and bioengineering goals, eventually leading to the black goo’s creation, and their own inevitable demise. It’d also be a satisfying comeuppance for David, with all his grandiose beliefs and god complex, ending up just having reverse engineered a knock off Alien, perhaps an inferior copy of the natural original strain. The artificial man who believed himself a god, turning out to simply be creating more artificial copies, and realising he’s no more capable of original thought or creativity than any other machine.
the dark horse comics explore it a bunch of times, or atleast what is presumably their home planet, it has the mega hives the mother queen and even at one point there was red ant equivalent that battled the reigning black version.
ImperatorNocturne the hive war comic always confused me as much as it interested me. As it never showed the other life forms that existed on that planet so we don’t really know what species the xenomporhs could possibly use as hosts.
I'm going to miss this channel once the Disney Fox deal closes, because I love this channel, and that it expands upon the mythology of the Alien and Predator films, comics, novels, fanfiction, original and rejected concepts that have fascinated fans for 40 years.
This whole channel is amazing, lots of nostalgia for me. I used to get the novels of these stories from a local book store when i was younger. What makes me sad with the current films is look how interesting this backstory and theory of the Xenomorph is, then you look at the canon films and its "oh yeah a deranged android just made them...". Such a shame...
This comic series was actually brilliant imo. Not just the fact that the stories and characters were great, but it also takes a very deep dive into the human condition. I so wish that Earth Wars were the sequels we got to Aliens. Not that I have any great disdain, unlike others, for 3, Resurrection, Prometheus, Covenant and the AVP's, but these were far superior. Rewatching this entire series now.
Books 1 and 2, (later called Outbreak 1988-89), (Female War 1989-1990) were great stories. I loved them both. Both are very damning essays on humanity, and show what will happen if we lose our humanity. The irony is that the Alien is so simple a lifeform to learn about there is no need to understand it. It simply does what it needs to do. The great irony is that the Alien backstory is far more interesting than what was ever invented since 2012 with Prometheus onwards.
I stumbled onto your channel while watching the deleted tunnel scene and watched all of the "Accounts of the Earth War" videos until I was caught up. You've definitely got my subscription. Thank you very much for your kind words and I’m glad you found the channel! The scripts are out together using excerpts from the actual comics and the novelizations, which are where much of the expanded dialogue and details come from. The focus is to remain true to the original comics while using the novel to compliment it...sometimes they align just about perfectly while other times they are drastically different and I have left out a lot that just couldn’t fit in. When I do write my own portions in the script it’s to bridge them together as coherently impossible and I have no intentions to intrude or alter the story in any way so it may be descriptions and summations but there is nothing within these accounts that you could all my own invention. I’m just guarding the story and sharing it. It has been great.
I have to say thank you for doing this work. I have the comics but it is nice to see this. Its like an episode of a show that you have to wait for it almost has that feel pre-internet tv and it nice. Each upload you do I try to watch it out of support.
Like 4 hours ago I was just telling my friend at work about the night I came home from work to find awesomeness in my recommended feed in the form of your last Earth War video (the hour and a half long one) and i come home tonight to a new one haha.
Awesome video! The Theory of Alien Propagation of Aliens Book One has always been one of my favorite parts of the story. All it took you was less than 10 minutes to kick the shit out of the mediocre Prometheus and Covenant. Great work!
The strange part of Orona's account is that his axiom that we "will never understand them" seems wrong. We have a huge amount of data regarding insect species which is directly applicable to the xenomorphs. Even Jeff Goldblum talked about "insect politics" in the movie "The Fly" which is certainly a sufficient, if not exacting, understanding of how hives and insect cultures work. Apply that to 7 foot tall "insects" and it seems clear what the aliens are doing and why. It is only that, until now, insects were tiny compared to us... but that reality is gone. :)
Man, I live seeing that little notification icon on my phone and seeing you released another video. I will say I am curious to see what Disney will do with the franchise. Keep it the same? Or scratch everything except for the movies and restart everything.
I'm still a fan of the theory that they are a synthetic universal pathogen, a bio weapon developed to be a near perfect, utterly ruinous organism that natural selection alone could never produce. I like the idea that the Jockey's, in their hubris, created them and were driven to an extinction of their own design. And that millions of years later, we, the bumbling humans happened upon the terrible discovery, and in the same vanity as the Jockey's, foolishly thought we could control a wide-awake nightmare.
Total props, I think that alien 3 should have followed the earth wars concept. To have hicks, newt and ripley on the sulaco return to earth . This coupled with the dark horse comics could have been a stellar badass film.👍😎
Hot take: I prefer Prometheus/Alien Covenant origin of them being engineered by a nanomachine like mutagen, it makes them feel like there is no equal to them, they exist purely to evolve and transcend barriers that exist in different biospheres as they were engineered exactly to do that.

If horror monsters are a rogue's gallery, I like the Xenomorph as an "invasive species" aspect, it fills a more unique niche whilst maintaining simplicity. Left entirely to themselves in the wild, I wonder 1) if Aliens would accept multiple queens in a single colony, 2) if dual queens cause infighting until a single queen remains alive, or 3) if additional queens simply take a portion of the colony to branch off into a new hive. Also, 4) do they possess a way to breed without hosts via male/female alates? I've been assuming all this time that ALL the Aliens we've seen thus far have been female, like wasps or ants.
Thanks AT if you need a specific video idea to memorialize my dad try this: Is David trying to be god? Or is he just an android trying to do what humans do (create life) to feel human
Every spring I graft larvae from my best queens and place up to 20 of them into a queenless colony. They colony will feed these larvae a special diet to ensure they pupate into queens. The first of them will hatch out within 16 days and if I don't remove the cells containing her sisters, she will sting and destroy all of them before they can emerge.
Ok. now this is something ive been thinking about for a while. but, what would happen if a xenomorph host survived giving birth to a xenomorph. would the xenomorph actually imprint on its host? giving a queen was gone.
Those creatures supposedly as strong as xenomorphs don't convince me. There's nothing remarkable about them, they're like dino-creatures and that's it, not scary at all. Also they don't seem to belong to the same environment as the aliens, they're just to different. The planet itself isn't nothing much, it should be nightmarish and incredibly weird and "alien" to our minds; we should feel uneasy just by thinking about that place (I'm imagining "Gigeresque" landscapes now). Instead we have a blue sky, orange rocks and land, and nests in the shape of onions.... It cheapens the experience to orders of magnitude. I like dr. Orona. He lost but then again - did he even had a chance? He tried to stop them any way possible. Others would fllee or hide. He was defiant to the last moment.
I never got the big deal on their mystery. The queen lays eggs, the facehugger grabs a host, the cycle continues. Parasites aren't new to humans. We can learn and defeat them.
AT do you have a Discord server? I'm sure a lot of subs would enjoy that. And you can even have Patreon supporters have a special role and access to special channels in the server.
I find it funny that the other alien species are generic reptiles. Not bashing the artist, he did a great job, but its obvious the Xenomorphs were designed with great care and creativity. Also, I guess the aliens would need some sort of host creature in their home planet, limiting their number. I think its a bit of a paradox that they mixed creatures like ants, that have complex social structures, with creatures like parasites. I think it makes little sense: if you have a colony were you can take your prey to feed the young, why would you need the risk of keeping a host alive?
2:28 - _".. we also know they form hives to protect their young .."_ Hmm.. that's interesting considering the xenomorph has a childhood lasting apprx. a few hours (.. i.e. judging from the speed at which they grow to full size in all the movies ). Am curious how the two reconcile.
The young mean more the ovomorphs and facehuggers. In the home world they could have been a food source to a native predator that could eat them without setting the egg off
Well that's what Queen bees do once hatched, they hunt down and kill all other queens by stinging them including the baby queens still in the eggs. Most of the time the first queen to hatch wins.
Is there any lore around what a hive with no humanoids around as prey is like? What do the aliens do if there is food but no real hunting to be done? Do they just all go dormant and wait?
Not lore but just an alternative theory I like - I've always thought it would be cool for the xenomorphs *themselves* to egg-morph when they run out of prey. Go back into a dormant state and wait for their next victims to arrive. More 'alien' explanation for where the eggs came from than "they're space ants", anyway... while keeping their true origin a mystery. And that way they actually retain the DNA the adults incorporate from their incubators and pass it to the next generation. Otherwise what's the point - the queen is the only one breeding so the species doesn't evolve at all.
I am becoming in my old years an Alien I purist. The idea of a Queen-less xenomorph life cycle feels more alien to me. Indeed the words in this very video contradict themselves - trying to paint the aliens as alien to our notion of life, but then describing them as communal insects. The hive structure places them squarely inside our biome and understanding. I prefer them being more like a virus or a mold, using enzymes to break down victims into more eggs. The hive organism can be imagined to have arisen in a system similar to ours, it fits inside of Darwinian evolution. The queen-less variant is simply more... alien. Still loved the video though, and your channel!
Three words, say them and I'm yours:

Prometheus ain't canon. Only two people on earth think it is: Ridley Scott, and someone so dumb, he's yet to be discovered

Is there any lore around what a hive with no humanoids around as prey is like? What do the aliens do if there is food but no real hunting to be done? Do they just all go dormant and wait?
Dekks123 they feed off any other biologicals
Not lore but just an alternative theory I like - I've always thought it would be cool for the xenomorphs *themselves* to egg-morph when they run out of prey. Go back into a dormant state and wait for their next victims to arrive.
More 'alien' explanation for where the eggs came from than "they're space ants", anyway... while keeping their true origin a mystery.
And that way they actually retain the DNA the adults incorporate from their incubators and pass it to the next generation. Otherwise what's the point - the queen is the only one breeding so the species doesn't evolve at all.
LOVE the Wagner in the background! Always gotta hit them with the Wagner.
