  • We take a look at the 18v 21 degrees plastic collated framing nail gun from Metabo HPT; otherwise known as hikoki in other places.
It's a great nail gun using a compressed cylinder design versus a spinning flywheel like the dewalt nail guns. In their 18v platform it is capable of using multivolt batteries, and appears to be more of your traditional pneumatic feel and responsiveness.
The 18V Plastic Strip Cordless Framing Nailer (NR1890DRS) completely raises the bar for cordless framing nailers. It is designed so you no longer need to worry about dirty hoses, loud compressors or expensive gas cartridges. Its equipped with Metabo HPT's unique Air Spring Drive System that delivers similar performance as a pneumatic nailer, but offers total cordless freedom.
The Metabo HPT cordless framing nailer uses sealed compressed air to drive each nail, which results in zero ramp up time, up to 2 nails driven per second, recoil that feels like a pneumatic framing nailer and best of all, there is no refilling of the air tank required. This cordless framing nailer is ideal for all construction framing applications but is particularly useful for punch-out work on a jobsite for quick in-and-out operation with minimal hassle and professional results.
CORDLESS FREEDOM: Pneumatic power with 18 volt cordless freedom
FASTENERS: Accepts round head 21 degree plastic strip collated nails from 2 Inch up to 3-1/2 inch in length and (0.113 to 0.131)
POWER: Drives 400 Nails per charge using Metabo HPT's new compact 3.0 Ah Li-ion battery(included)
APPLICATIONS: Ideal for all construction framing applications but is particularly useful for punch-out work on a jobsite without the need for a tank or hose
DEPTH ADJUSTMENT: Get a professional finish with varying materials with the tool-less depth of drive adjustment
PNEUMATIC-LIKE FEEL: The unique air spring drive system delivers similar performance as a pneumatic nailer
EASY SWITCH FROM BUMP TO SEQUENTIAL: Quickly transition between sequential mode and bump fire mode with the actuation on the control panel
ZERO RAMP UP: There is no refilling of the air tank required, so pull the trigger and tool will shoot the nail
BRUSHLESS: Technology for higher efficiency, increased run time and longer tool life
WARRANTY: Covered by Metabo HPT's Lifetime Lithium Ion Tool Warranty and two-year Lithium Ion battery warranty

I own the Hitachi 21 degree framer and the 15 gauge. After many years, they still work without any problem.

You don’t really need the multi volt battery to go with this nailer, a 3.0Ah battery should be just fine

Have you ever tested the Senco 20 degree framing nailer. I'm looking to buy a 21 degree framing nailer.

Milwaukee may be better performing but your dishing out almost 200 for battery kit (not 3.0 or better) And the bare tool is almost the same price as the HPT with batteries. Hate the way that industry went.

anyone know if the 30* magazine will bolt in place of the 21* magazine? you get twice the nails in the magazine with the clipped head

21^ definitely don't work in the 30* magazine, so probably not the other way around either.

Yes, if you have the 30° Magazine, you can swap it out with the 21° magazine. It's the same gun.

I don't like any of the battery nailers because they a so so so heavy, I just can't understand why so bulky and heavy.

This one is lighter and well balanced and would surprise you. I have wrist issues from years of doing this stuff and my wrists like this gun.

@@SomeDumUsrName two years ago when Milwaukee introduced both nailers I was going to purchase until I felt the weight how comfortable they were.
It would be nice to ditch the compressor if this is balanced

@@jbammorales5858 likely just needs to be refill it's nitrogen tank. that's another thing against it though, the hikoki/metabo hpt uses regular air and can be refuelled by the average joe with an adapter. The milwaukee on the other hand.. when was the last time you kept compressed nitrogen handy?
