Notice how many steps the dude is going down from the ground level. That's the symbolism for going underground which was the movement back in the late 80's and early 90's.
The BB have been around since 85. You know this is a live version? The studio (album) version sounds a little different. It has more reverb. This video if you pay attention, you can see the camera man filming. This is the Beastie Boys raw.
@@Stefnmaddy they were so awesome. I got to see them during the DEF JAM tour in 86/87. That concert was so good. Everyone was there Run DMC, BB, LL, WHODINI, ERIC B & RAKIM.
There was this BBC documentary about the legendary Hiphop crew Public Enemy and Chuck D was asked what his opinion was on Gangsta Rap. He said "Them mothafuckaz ain't got nothing to say." Not so with the Beastie Boys, they ALWAYS had something to say.
Paul's Boutique is an absolute must listen album. In its entirety. It initially was considered a flop by the label. It is an absolute masterclass in production and sampling. Its now in an almost considered a hip hop holy grail

First six albums (Licensed To Ill, Paul's Boutique, Check Your Head, Ill Communication, Hello Nasty and Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. Two ) and why not To the 5 Boroughs, as well? The Beasties bring some diversity in styles and go between beats, samples and live instrumentation. A great mix. Their first album came out when I was in 7th grade and I had RUN DMC Raising Hell on the flip side of the cassette my buddy dubbed for me. Oh the 80s! Don't realize you miss something until much later. Absence makes the heart grow fonder! That's why we like old music whomever you are. :) And, to answer you, I'm from Oakland, California. Thank you for reacting to The Beastie Boys!
MMM entered the building on Mott st. on ground level.. proceeds to walk down 6-7 flights of stairs, then enters BB practice spot. subterranean af.. bet, they had great rates in little italy nyc in 1998. lol.
The Beastie Boys 1978-2012. The Crowned princes of rap. Other than the Furious five, Kurtis Blow, and Grand master flash, not much was around before the Beasties and Run DMC, and LL Cool J, all coming out, basically within the same year.
I'm late af to these reactions. Just wanted to say, Mix Master Mike was so good, they just asked him to stop entering scratch competitions and had him judge them 😂🤣
Love your reactions. My personal favorite Beastie Boys songs are, in no order, Intergalactic, Sabotage, Paul Revere and No Sleep Til Brooklyn… but this one would definitely be in sixth place. Those are just favorites and not necessarily what I think are the best ones. It’s purely my personal preferences.
How do these commenters have no clue who the Beastie Boys are? If you have no clue who they are, then you know nothing about rap. There are thousands of people posting videos of their music, and most of them claim that same bs.If you're on RUclips regularly, you've both heard of them and probably heard their music. I'm getting sick of hearing liars acting like they are virtual unknowns because they are so good they're in the Hall of Fame. They've won more Grammy's and had more #1 Albums and songs than any rap act ever.😅
Yo Beastie Boys are EASILY (IMHO) among the best MCs to ever hold a mic. #5 Grand Puba, #4 Nas, #3 Rakim, #2 Beastie Boys, #1 Big L and NO, Jay-z and Big ain't anywhere near ANY of them cats. I prob don't even put either in My top 10.
