One thing to understand...all the beats and scratching are coming spontaneously from the DJ. No digital samples, drum machine, or anything. Incredible.
I miss the days of cutting and scratching. The DJ used to always be promoted by the artist, they really were the stars of the show most times. I used to want to be as good as Jazzy Jeff.
Carmy Mattson Nah lol, even without Will there was DJs like Premier, Pete Rock, DJ Scratch. They used to kill it after the 80s DJs. Jazzy is just the g.o.a.t. of the 1s and 2s.
can i recommend Z-Trip who's LL Cool J's DJ. He's got some amazing sets on twitch/here and does a lot of alternative rock mashed with hip-hop, he's also done a an official beastie boys set ruclips.net/video/5CeIBLUFj70/видео.html
Beastie Boys are pretty interesting. They came out in 83, and stuck to the old school rap style, like groups like Run DMC would use. But they progressed their music into some kind of ear candy in the 90s, but still kept the old school rhymes. This song sounds like a tribute to true old school hip hop. It's a lot of fun.
2nd for Shake Your Rump! A lot of reactors skip it, which is too bad because I think it might be the best for a new fan to see the three of them with their distinct characters.
Much of what the Beasties do is an homage to the very early days of NY Hip Hop. So in the early days the DJ was the star, the MCs (they were not even yet Emcees) were just the garnish. This is a shout out to that. They are stationary in the studio like all the other instruments until the DJ comes in, when he starts they animate and when he is finished they go back to being stationary like every other instrument, the DJ is done using them.
OMG...Mad props for knowing his pack is an exterminator pack. Everyone else just calls it a Ghostbusters pack & that's it. I've literally watched 20+ reactions to this vid & you are the first to say exterminator. In an interview the Besties said they dressed him up like an exterminator, because he exterminates other turntablists. He won so many different competitions & innovated the art of making the turn table an instrument. He even introduced a wah wah pedal, that is traditionally known for guitarists, to his turn tables. The man is a legend. I put him 2nd to only Jam Master Jay (RIP) as far as turntablists. I've seen both live many times at Fresh Festivals back in the 80's-90's. Damn, I just aged myself. Sorry for droning on...Great react! Gave a like & sub!
Completely live to tape in real time, nothing programmed or prerecorded, no premade beat, no drum machine or sampler, just three MC's and one DJ manipulating that one record with a horn stab, a snare and kick, and a voice going "aaaah".
@@billyboy9034 It means what you hear is what you see. The ghostbuster guy is scratching and the statue guys are rapping and that's all the music there is.
@@billyboy9034 I understood your statement completely, and therefore provided a simplified explanation for those whom you call "most". The Beastie Boys are on a whole other level! Out of all of their great hits and they have plenty, SHE’S CRAFTY is a World Class Banger! I have recorded it on cassette tape, compact disc, cell phone, ringtones,, and every streaming device known to man!. I listen to it at least three times a month and back to back each and every time I listen to it. Trust me when I tell you, there are several people commenting that know the power of the Beastie Boys! RIP MCA💜
The intro to the track is pretty funny too. He leaves message on their machine where scratches over the phonecall. "Hey, yo Adam. Its Mix Master Mike from Sacramento".
Beastie Boys was the best concert I ever went to. Hands down... the energy they brought and the crowd was unreal. Honestly, if you can, try to watch some live concerts of them.. their audience included a virtual who's who of famous people and rappers all there enjoying themselves and paying respect. They were in their own league and doing their own thing... no East Coast vs West Coast beefs, no fighting... just respect.
Miss them so much. I saw them at Michigan State in 1992 when they were still young -- as was I -- full of energy, climbing all over the small stage. I saw them again at the Gorge Amphitheater in 2008. It was incredible to hear them after so many years. They had matured so much -- wearing suits and MCA had gray hair. At that performance they were fully formed artists with a legendary catalog. Beastie Boys hold a special place in my heart.
DOPE: (adj.) A term created to describe the sounds and rhymes perpetuated and perpetrated by the Beastie Boys. Usage: "Mixmaster Mike and the Boys are dropping records that are so dope you can't see straight."
That's what a good reaction video host does. He makes you say to the screen, "Oh, damn Jayvee. Yes. He IS the DJ. He IS MixMaster MIKE. Among the illest of all time, JV. Prepare for liftoff." I want this guy to love the Beasties. Jayvee, damn, son. Good job.
you know the hip hop Stations actually used to have live DJs on at night they would mix everything from newer songs to old songs and go back to new songs, then got into other music.
Let's take a good look and listen to what is going on here. We have 3 of the best and most respected rappers of all time, along with DJ, Mix Master Mike who is second to no one in his own right knocking it out once again.
This song was for lack of better terms their love song to the DJ. They made it about him, they showed that one DJ can make everything. It was their thank you.
This video is an illustration of "true Hip-Hop " They were waiting motionless because their is no MC (Emcee) without the DJ. The DJ's birthed the MC's.
Mix master mike is an absolute turntablist legend.. theres an iconic video of him and dj qbert at the dmc world champs after they were basically banned from competing because they were too dominant
Well said... "Cleanest" scratching. No fluff! God bless the Beasties. "Skills to Pay the Bills" is a personal favourite, with a nice video. Check it out x

Right? They can do it all - just bars and a DJ, the most legendary sample album of all time with Paul's Boutique, picking up live instruments and legitimately playing their own beats(and actually playing them well too - looking at you with that fawkin electric guitar, Wayne...), keep it straight 4/4 with radio ready hooks, to flying out into outer space with some of the more progressive writing in hip-hop, the Boys can do it ALL!
That's Mix Master Mike! He's a world champion DJ. He's one of the members of Invisibl Skratch Piklz.
Correct, THREE TIME world champion by the way. That dude is a legit legend.
One of the best. They had Hurricane before. They understood the value of a dope beat
He's also an unlockable character on SSX Tricky.
3 time world champ AND asked not to show back up so others have a chance to win, lmao
Yep 👍🏽

3 MCs waiting on their DJ.
Superpowers not activated until the beat drops.
BRILLIANT! 😁

Its fking amazing
Yea not that complicated to figure out makes wonder why we watch reactors ??? Lol
Say that S bad word! I felt that!! 😊😊😊!!!
Often over looked is the fact that Mixmaster Mike is doing all of this with just ONE record. Its one of his party tricks.
It's illegal not to mention Ghostbusters while watching 3 MC's and 1 DJ for the first time 😁
