Goku is just the man on every level. Grateful for how another man has been able to teach his son. His son openly admires another man to the core. Not a hint of jealousy though, just grateful. Never noticed that until this short.
Goku understood that he died early and someone had to step up as a mentor to his son. It had a similar circumstance to what Goku experienced when Gohan (the old guy) died.

Their relationship is especially profound and amazing if you have watched the entirety of the series including the original dragon ball. When you see how Goku and Piccolo were arch enemies and Piccolo seemed to be pure evil without any chance of redemption it's incredible to see that Piccolo would one day be the closest in the world to the son of the person he once hated the most. The son of the man who killed his own father. And its especially cute to see Piccolo now being like a grandpa to Gohan's daughter in the new movie :)

As a man who grew up with an absent father, piccolo was always my favorite character. Always wanted to find one of my own.
I'm so sorry to hear that. Now that My father's gone I have that love and Lessons he taught me to keep me moving forward. I hope you know God is also the next closest thing to a father especially for me now that both my parents passed away. He is all I have as a father while I'm here alive. I still speak with my parents sometimes but I cannot hear them speak back (Except for that one time each of them called my named within my vicinity once and seperate times mostly to warn me or to make sure I am not late for something important), I only see them and talk to them shortly in dreams. There is never enough time but on the other hand It's best I let them rest, they deserve it after putting up with me.
Piccolo and Gohan is honestly one of the best developed friendships in anime.

Although it has it flaws but i'm really glad it turns out good, hope they make the second one, maybe covering DBS/DBGT story with more improvement.
Also really hope this opens up to more non fighting DB game, or even better, to non fighting anime game (cause i swear most of anime game is just a boring fighting game, thanks to Naruto Storm series).

I usually prefer dub over sub in anything I watch (I know whatever) and I’ll say the only thing in dragon ball I watched sub was super, then rewatching it dubbed I realised that the context flows better in sub and usually the things they say hit harder

The bonding between gohan and piccolo is intense, deep. The belief Vegeta has in Gohan's potential is huge. The little shown love for Gohan by Goku is a spark of the unshown true love that a father has for his son.
For a fact: Gohan has 3 of the strongest warriors who have got his back.
Goku loves Gohan. He was just dead majority of time that Gohan was growing up
Goku was either dead or fighting for their universe and home. No one else but Goku could fill those shoes. Goku showed his remorse for his mistakes during his sacrifice with cell and reluctance to come back to life afterward prove that Goku DOES have a heart and a soft spot for his loved ones. Dragonball isn’t a romance or a heartfelt series, it’s about gigachads fighting Goku to the death and him having to prove to himself that he will not give up just because someone is stronger than him.
GT goodbye version of Piccolo to Gohan and Goku is the best one, it is the most touching one and if you don't cry to it, you're either dead inside or a plain GT hater...
