Little did Vegeta know, it had merely reinforced his will to fight for the ones he loved. It honestly made him much more honest about himself than he's ever been before, and he sacrificed himself in spite of being turned evil.
All he needed was to say it out loud, to the only saiyan who could understand why he’d ever go back to his old ways.
@@MalosiAudios One of the things I don't agree with from Super is how passive Vegeta has become. Some can argue that this was growth for him, but Vegeta has always shown a great deal of pride, arrogance and a certain amount of timidness when it came to being intimate with others. Some of his best moments have been against my idea of him, but when he was a Majin, that was a perfect time to isolate tjose traits, but merge them with his best traits. That's why him not being open with Goku makes sense. He was only capable of having his heart opened up by those whom he wanted saving from. Trunks was the one to open his heart, convincing Vegeta to make the shift back and to be a better dad to him. I suppose it would make sense, since Vegeta did watch his son die by Cell's hand. To see it happen again at the level that Trunks was, I bet it snapped him back to reality real quick.
I think it's because his most evil trait pride is also his most good. When you have pride in your family and protecting them and you value your pride in that then even when that pride is magnified your family will still be important. He has pride in his wife and kid which means it grew stronger when unleashed.
@@hugomventura To a further degree, Pride shouldn't be considered bad. Everything in this world, and in any other variation of it, should be considered greyer than other colors. Pride, in the case of Vegeta, began with him being arrogant and egotistical about his position as the prince of a bygone race. As a prince, it would make sense that he'd be groomed to be a proper one at that, showcasing all that the Saiyans were before they're extinction. However, due to him being humbled over and over again by those whom he'd considered weak, he found himself placing pride upon others, like Future Trunks. That was the turning point for him, and it would eventually cause him to grow fond of the current trunks which he and Bulma conceived. That's why Trunks was able to break Vegeta out from his self-imposed brainwashing. Vegeta, in a moment of complete weakness, found himself in the same position as he was when Cell killed Trunks. The only difference was that he could prevent his son' s death, and that was where he realized his pride was not in himself, but his son. That's why he spouts up a lot about pride in that form.

@@ramon4184 Vegeta had a more legitimate reason, he felt he loss all reason for his existence. Despite the loss of innocents and the extreme risk, he paid his due, learned from it.

@@ramon4184 I did say he paid his due. He felt he was losing what made Vegeta...well Vegeta. Until that moment he fought Buu. Goku on the other hand had a severe issues of either sparing his enemies or shrugging them off, mind you also placed millions of lives at risk. Hell Earth got nuked by frieza because goku didn't think of him being a major threat.
For goku to still hold back, after all that, shows how much he loved and believed in vegeta in the end
They should've put ssj3 goku in that fight since his fight with majin buu barely did a thing

Ultra ego is peak Vegeta. This was just a version where he was still looking for answers. Answers he is getting in the manga right now. There is probably a mastered version coming. There is also the fact that they age and get older. A saiyan past his prime can lose his pride along the way, he is always competing with goku who forgets vegeta is the same. Same blood same race. What do we expect lol

My favorite part of DBZ happened right after this. Shin tried to stop the fight and got in front of Goku. Goku raised his hand to him and began charging a ki blast. Shin reluctantly gave in and let him fight. With future insight, Goku almost killed Beerus during this scene.

When Goku was about to visit Zeno, Beerus asked Goku to keep Shin alive, or else he would be gone as well (he asks it in his own way, of course).

I honestly believe this is one of the crucial moments in Vegeta's development ark.. we really see him fighting himself and others for his own right of way and existence, the acknowledgement of his birthright and legacy, taken from him by others and left with nothing.. a king without his ppl and a king without his home.

Was funny seeing zeno ride his ass in super manga. Supreme Kai gets karma let alone is a weak point for beerus so future Kai gets owned. At least he trained future trunks.
This Vegeta and ultra ego is a super deadly combination.
Dude was valid. For once he was valid. Ruled by frieza. Casted downed from an abundant race to near extinction. All he wanted was those good old days where he still felt powerful, useful. He wanted to be free once more to do as he pleased as that perfect prince of the saiyans. Paving the way forward in his father's stead. And that's exactly what he did. Paved straight through each for and became the best of every version of a saiyan. By the time he reached the absolute strongest of super saiyan blue evolved, he had made good on that word. The strongest through absolute pride and strength. Building and evolving. The prince of saiyans absolute. No one could do it better. And no one deserves it more than him. Vegeta is indeed the Greatest of All Time.
Also, side note, SSB Evolved was the first time Vegeta canonically achieved a transformation onscreen
Vegeta attained Super saiyan blue evolved by himself, he saw goku become a ssgod and attained that power without the ritual, aka without help, not to mention he went down his own path instead of “stuck in kakarots shadow” when he achieved ssb evolved

Vegeta’s true turning point here. After this is when everyone saw that he wasn’t just some angry pouty sidekick or even a villain turned soft.
I will always advocate for Kai voice acting but this is one of the most powerful scenes in the series

Sometimes I wonder if Vegeta did this because if there would be another threat on earth, and to where he’s afraid he wouldn’t be able to stop it since Goku is dead and he’s by himself he’d feel even more guilt for letting those he’s attached too down.

As personal growth, you have an individual who is actually healing from trauma. Vegeta gave in to babidi is his old self returning; his old bad habits and perceptions fighting to survive. Overcoming this during the Buu saga and at the end Vegeta finally admitting that Goku was the best, allows him to become the Z fighter we know him as from then on.
This scene felt like a WWF match between Goku and Vegeta maybe the audience thought it was an act.
The angry, frustrated grunts and growls make this feel so much more real. He’s a man on the edge of insanity, riding along on nothing but force of will and power, and yet it’s after this side of him has been allowed to breathe that he truly understands what matters the most. His wife. His son. His friends.

Vegeta had to let go of his emotions and embrace his true destructive animalistic instincts to gain the strength to fight Goku. This is kind of a foreshadow to his Uktra Ego form. Beerus basically taught him that he should completely embrace his deepest animalistic instincts that only cares about being a vessel of pure destruction.
People always look past the fact that there was an entire planet of saiyans with the same potential as Goku and vegeta. What kind of threat to the universe they would be if they never gave up being evil but got that much power
