Honestly I feel bad for Vegeta. At base he's an epic prideful warrior, but look deeper and he's a broken man, traumatized as a child through Frieza's evil ways and made to forever doubt himself. You could tell here that he was basically clinging to Goku for dear life for this because without a rival, he couldn't prove his strength, and in his mind at the time, without strength, he didn't have pride, and without pride he had nothing. Goku may be the stronger fighter, but Vegeta is WAY deeper.

Vegetas character development is probably one of the best in every show I’ve ever watched. He easily one of my favorite characters of all time

I feel like he only hated Vegeta because he was one of the most complex character in the show.
In the point of view of a writer, redeeming a serial genocider and an outright evil being in a naturally convincing manner and have his story wrapped up well is a VERY hard thing to do, in my humble opinion.
But Toriyama cooked well with Vegeta, and gave him the best development out of any DBZ character for me

Vegeta was the true embodiment of a Sayan King, I only hate that he was titled prince. His pride for his species was unparalleled, he truly believed
Well, the number 1 theory Vegeta doesn't title himself "King" is because of his respect towards his deceased father, King Vegeta. Despite the show never going too deep into their relationship and it jumps between showing Vegeta admire him as a kid to him not showing reaction when hearing about his father's murder, it's still obvious he respects his father.
The title was never passed on to him officially by his father ( because the king was murdered), so he doesn't call himself that. I think it actually shows even more the lvl of warrior honor ,pride and respect Vegeta possesses.

Thus making Mr. Satan the "mightiest man of all time". Every other fighter there left except for Mr. Satan when things started to get normal DBZ status.
Not gonna lie, I hated that character as a kid, but looking back, I realize that he really was the strongest person there. He's a human amongst "gods" and still stuck around.

And do you remember how solum he felt when he asked Piccolo before he sacrificed himself "Will I see that fool Kakarot in otherworld?" and Piccolo broke down how Goku dedicated & sacrificed his life protecting & saving people whereas Vegeta up until that point... Didn't.
We don't need to "imagine" the joy Vegeta got when Goku came back to life because we saw it on the episode Vegeta was all up on Goku .

Vegeta questioning himself post Cell's defeat is one of the most impactful scenes that you come across in DBZ. In that moment he realizes that Goku had not only beaten him in strength but also in character. For him that hurt the most . This made him realize that just being strong was not enough . Being selfless and brave was equally important and that is what makes someone a complete warrior.

That is how I view it, Vegeta is the real protagonist and has to keep fighting against the plot to survive as a villain who is meant to be defeated... proving that you either die the villain or live long enough to become the anti-hero

It’s because without Goku that form Trunks is in doesn’t possibly exist. It’s not that he doesn’t care about Trunks it’s just Vegeta needs Goku to be the best possible version of himself. The same way Goku needs the serious side of Vegeta to stop messing around when the time is right.

Some people don’t understand the kind of chills this will send down you spine, across your cheeks, in your lungs. The amount of pain this man went through alongside goku, the amount of changes he made and the power he’s gained from it all. Definitely one of the most driven characters in all of anime, even he himself was never able to stop him self from becoming greater and greater no matter what the obstacle was.
