@@RareRex27No it did not. This moment signifies the point where Vegeta truly changes and the evil leaves his heart. This is the first time we’ve seen Vegeta really open up his feelings to anyone in a sincere way. Even though his death wasn’t permanent, this was the start to a new beginning.

I really wish that Vegeta's Final Explosion finished off Buu so that Vegeta could finally get a W, and so his sacrifice wouldn't have been a waste.
It wasn’t a waste. If Vegeta hadn’t shown that unselfishness then they may not have even beaten Buu at all.

His sacrifice wasn’t a waste.
It marked his complete transformation to a good guy.
people are ignorant to call it a waste. the point wasn't to defeat buu. it was part of his character arc. it also stalls the destruction to innocent lives, at least for the moment.

You can tell that vegeta and piccolo respect each other the same way. They both speak to each other with respect. Vegeta knowing he is stronger he dosent let that get in the way. Vegeta is my G.O.A.T

Honestly those are the best words a son can hear from his father. Even though, for some people may not mean anything for some of us making our parents proud is the best feeling ever. I have had that chance and it's indescribable in words.
When they tell you they’re proud of you and you feel deep inside that you don’t deserve it, it stings but the day you know you’ve made them proud, you’re on top of the world
You're right. Once my dad patted my back, like he was saying I made him proud, on a stage, he was standing behind me. The moment he touched my back, after that I didn't remember anything that happened, everything went quiet for a moment, I almost teared up in that moment. Haven't felt like that ever since.

I mean if Vegeta was able to knock out the kids so easily with one chop and a gut punch imagine what Buu would have done to them. Vegeta saved their lives for sure. Then again Buu punched the hell out of Trunks in his normal form while they were about to try fusion.

Bro tfym SIDE CHARACTER? He's been Goku's main rival since the Saiyan Saga. And continues to be his rival. Vegeta has established himself as a main character
He's definitely made Vegeta proud, he's shown Vegeta one does not need to be battle hungry and aggressive to attein super Saiyan, as he performed a prodigy feat of achieving it way younger than Gohan did, not only that his love for training and following his dad, even to this moment of his most darkest times, would make any father both sad of himself and proud of his son. At this moment Vegeta knew he had to die, but not infront of the kids.

Ok I know this was to be such a heartfelt scene but it cracked me up so much when Vegeta was like “You have made proud, my son” and then proceeded to knock him out
This was such a big thing when I was a kid I remember everyone in my school talking about this and the local tv station showing this in my country even used this scene as a commercial for the show while playing Creed's My Sacrifice in the background.
This is still one of the best scenes of the original dbz!!! Legendary scene!!

It never made sense to me. If Buu was broken down into microscopic particles, isn't that exactly what the spirit bomb did? It doesn't make sense why Vegeta's sacrifice didn't work

The reason it didnt kill vegeta was cuz he wasnt pure evil even at the time and the reason it didnt kill frieza was for the same reason(btw i am only going in verse reasons here in writting it makes no sense) as frieza was shown to have a sliver of good in him in t.o.p
The reason it killed buu is cuz hes chaos with a phisycal form
Also every time it kills someone in the dbz movies it kills either a raging monster or a truly evil being
And it attacks the soul cuz the more evil the character the more effective it was(look at frizas wound compared to buus)
Thats what i hate abt DB. All the efforts and hard work that vegeta puts in, his character development is BEAUTIFUL. From hating him to understanding his pride in himself. And all that still goes to waste cus the MC is Goku.
