There's a lot more to Fort Pierce than what he showed. Fort Pierce is a city for middle class to upper middle class families, the poverty level isn't as rampant as he tries to cause it to appear in this video.
Ft Pierce is okay, depending on where you go! Stay off Ave D an some of those areas! But West Side by 95 is good, heading out Orange Ave. Also, East of US-1 by the Marina an that area! So just depends on where you go! Off 25th Ave, by US-1 Turn, there's again some "older" but very Decent Areas to live. :)

Dude thinks he knows what a hood is, but doing circles around two or three blocks for an hour just to show peoples houses don't make him a "Hood 101" expert. I grew up in the "Fort", and yeah I've been away for a long time while in the military and beyond that but each time I came home to visit, the city has gone through a lot of changes. Fort Pierce isn't the same but it is much better off nowadays compared to many years ago. Still, it has its share of issues just like any other city. Fort Pierce will always be home, family, and great fishing to me lol, but there's only one Fort Pierce, hood or no hood!
I left Fort Pierce when I was sixteen, because I knew it wasn't a place for me. We lived in the very public housing units you drove through briefly, but I primarily grew up on Avenue O and North 16th Street. While there were some nice people, I hated it. At 47, this is the most I've seen of my hometown since I ran for my life. I recognize so much of it still, including some trees and shrubs. Thanks for posting this
I live in northwestern Port St Lucie & Fort Pierce in the next town over from me & is near by... But, I have never seen it like this though, I wonder if this is the area around 17th Street, 16th Street & Orange Avenue area, that I had heard about??? I guess it changes after going over Midway & past Longwood Hospital from here in PSL... But, there are some very extremely expensive & big beautiful seaside homes facing the water & extremely wealthy million dollar homes in Fort pierce too especially, down by the Fort Pierce Pier area!!! So, not all of Fort Pierce is like this... There’s one thing I have to add though, even though this part of Port Pierce is old & run down, the people are really very nice & are down home peeps!!! There is very little crime, I never hear about crime from the Fort Pierce areas, like I do about West Palm Beach, Lake Worth or Boynton Beach area’s on our local NBC/WPTV news station!!! There are also excellent restaurants, some really good shops & shopping also!!! It’s just old Florida at its best...
He did hit the areas around 17th, 16th, Avenue D, and the surrounding areas. You're right; not all of Fort Pierce is like this, but the central part is. The best parts of Fort Pierce to me are Lakewood Park on the north end toward Vero Beach, the south end (including White City heading into Port St. Lucie, and the beach areas.

In my opinion the west end countryside is the only nice part of Fort Pierce along with downtown. The rest of it is an absolute shithole. It has a very high crime rate and an awful lot of poverty. If you're in the mood for some hardcore action all you have to do is drive down or walk down Avenue D. As far as I'm concerned Fort Pierce deserves any and all criticism that comes it's way. I'm much happier in Jensen Beach here in Martin county. It's the perfect escape from St Lucie county.

I grew up in Fort Pierce in the 1950s and 1960s. At that time, there was strict segregation in place. The beaches were segregated (whites only at South Beach), and blacks could sit only in the balcony at the Sunrise Movie Theater on 2nd Street. Schools weren't integrated until the mid-1960s. The area you filmed was where black residents were confined to living, many of them in poverty, until the 1970s. Author Zora Neal Hurston is buried in a cemetery at the end of North 17th street. She died poor and indigent at the St. Lucie County Welfare Home in 1960. Her grave wasn't even marked until Alice Walker made it her job to find it and put a proper marker on it in 1973.
my mother lived in Ft. Pierce untl she pased in 2011 shelived on Cortez Blvvd. On the "good side" of the canal, her neighborhood wasnt a bad place. She lived just off 25th street where the redlight is, just past the Greek Church
grand parents moved there in the early eighties and I spent many days in that town. Nothing but wonderful memories of this place. Sad to see it like this now.
Use to work in the boat yards in Fort Pierce. I was a boat detailer. It must be hot weather muggy hot. I really liked Fort Pierce FL it has nice marinas and nice people. Really cool 😎 place.

I found it amazing! He rode around 1 area of the city. What about the south, west and east of the city. Also for this being the hood where are the thugs, crackheads and homeless people hanging around on the streets because in my travels of many cities that's what a real hood looks like. Interesting, I plan on moving my family here. New homes, and nice beaches. The area you highlight is impoverished. ALL cities have hoods. This is impoverished. Hood to me is drug dealing on the corners, drinking shooting up in public. robberies and murder are the norm. The current crime stats are mainly Larceny that's in downtown FP. Ive lived in worse in Tampa, Indianapolis, LA, Kansas City and San Berdoo.
As someone who was born and raised in Fort Pierce...and currently still lives here, just a half mile from where he was in this video...i can assure you this town is absolutely what you think of when you think of a hood. Pills (Opiates, mainly Dilaudid, Opana and Roxi), Molly (not MDMA but dangerous research chemicals dealers claim to be MDMA but are more like Meth) and also Crack, Coke and Meth are RAMPANT in this town...also in PSL too, just more sporadic in PSL. I hear gun shot at LEAST a couple nights a week, especially after midnight. Drive By shootings are a common occurrence. Prostitution is a huge issue here as well. And yes along with many trap houses that sell drugs there are also plenty of drug dealers posted outside local corner stores (mostly selling Crack and Weed, while the pills are at trap houses along with Molly, and also at the Sunset inn aka The Molly Motel on US1) How do I know all this? I know many people involved in that world. And I had a time in my life where I was using Opioids/Dilaudid and Opana[2 years of my life], bought on several of the same streets seen in this video around Ave D/including the Reno Motel....i've been out of that life thankfully for 5 years now thanks to the local Methadone clinic saving my and many others in this area's life. So i speak with personal knowledge be aware of what you are getting in to by coming here. I am 35. Born and raised in The Fort and have seen it all here.

This is the poor areas of Fort Pierce where I used to live. These people are low income and shouldn't be called the hood. I never got mugged the years I lived in these area. Yo' man, you be driving west of US1 and going through the alphabet streets. Almost all those letter streets lead to Angle Road. It's an old city that nobody has really ever tried to develop. I live west of Ft. Pierce and I like it, because at night - I can actually see the Milky Way. And, avenue D has its problems - but, what city doesn't.

Fort Fierce! I lived in Fort Pierce for six years and worked as a Public Defender and RCC. I loved its character and working class atmosphere. It does not pretend to be anything else than what it is. Having said that, I left to raise my son. My clients and their significant others were being shot. The last day my wife was in town she witnessed a shooting. She was able to leave the scene because she was the only white witness. It was too dangerous. Also the racial disparities in sentencing are appalling. In many ways it is still a great place for surfing, fishing and growing plants. We used to have wild hogs behind our house.
So true. Im from Puerto Rico and Ft Pierce has some areas that remind me of home in terms of the southern old time buildings, snook fishing and tropical landscapes. However, not too good for raising children and the crime is rampant. Overall a city with great potential if the community decided to unite and work to make it better.

Ft Pierce has its share of neglected areas just like any city/town. Certainly lots of room for improvement, same can be said for anywhere USA. You totally disregarded the positive. Ft Pierce has an amazing history and more than its fair share of beautiful structures , a lot of which are being restored (i.e. St Anastasia and surrounding area.). Take the good with the bad but don't just focus on the bad.

Fort Pierce used to be the murder capital of the country 2-3 decades ago. Since then they have really made it a much safer place and hasn’t been in the top 100 most dangerous cities list for 2 years. It’s a great city with great people

I have lived in Port Saint Lucie for 29 years. I went to Dan McCarty Middle School 1993-1994 because of bussing. I was accepted to Lincoln Park Academy for highschool and didn’t even go. I went to PSL High and was a major change! Now Fort Pierce has changed for the good. Still have shady politics and issues like any town has in Amercia. Port Saint Lucie is the safest city in Florida and have a big population now since the pademic.

@@Archivist1492 unlike Saint Lucie county at least Martin county isn't a county of a high crime rate, shady businesses, prostitution, homicide, government housing, etc. I have a friend who has been an officer with the fort Pierce police department for 22 years and a homicide detective for 17 years now in fort Pierce. I asked him why and he responded...the very high crime rate across Saint Lucie county keeps me always busy and occupied and the Martin county Sheriff's department is just a nice tour sipping a margarita.

I left Fort Pierce when I was sixteen, because I knew it wasn't a place for me. We lived in the very public housing units you drove through briefly, but I primarily grew up on Avenue O and North 16th Street. While there were some nice people, I hated it. At 47, this is the most I've seen of my hometown since I ran for my life. I recognize so much of it still, including some trees and shrubs. Thanks for posting this

I live in northwestern Port St Lucie & Fort Pierce in the next town over from me & is near by... But, I have never seen it like this though, I wonder if this is the area around 17th Street, 16th Street & Orange Avenue area, that I had heard about??? I guess it changes after going over Midway & past Longwood Hospital from here in PSL... But, there are some very extremely expensive & big beautiful seaside homes facing the water & extremely wealthy million dollar homes in Fort pierce too especially, down by the Fort Pierce Pier area!!! So, not all of Fort Pierce is like this... There’s one thing I have to add though, even though this part of Port Pierce is old & run down, the people are really very nice & are down home peeps!!! There is very little crime, I never hear about crime from the Fort Pierce areas, like I do about West Palm Beach, Lake Worth or Boynton Beach area’s on our local NBC/WPTV news station!!! There are also excellent restaurants, some really good shops & shopping also!!! It’s just old Florida at its best...

He did hit the areas around 17th, 16th, Avenue D, and the surrounding areas. You're right; not all of Fort Pierce is like this, but the central part is. The best parts of Fort Pierce to me are Lakewood Park on the north end toward Vero Beach, the south end (including White City heading into Port St. Lucie, and the beach areas.

In my opinion the west end countryside is the only nice part of Fort Pierce along with downtown. The rest of it is an absolute shithole. It has a very high crime rate and an awful lot of poverty. If you're in the mood for some hardcore action all you have to do is drive down or walk down Avenue D. As far as I'm concerned Fort Pierce deserves any and all criticism that comes it's way. I'm much happier in Jensen Beach here in Martin county. It's the perfect escape from St Lucie county.

I grew up in Fort Pierce in the 1950s and 1960s. At that time, there was strict segregation in place. The beaches were segregated (whites only at South Beach), and blacks could sit only in the balcony at the Sunrise Movie Theater on 2nd Street. Schools weren't integrated until the mid-1960s. The area you filmed was where black residents were confined to living, many of them in poverty, until the 1970s. Author Zora Neal Hurston is buried in a cemetery at the end of North 17th street. She died poor and indigent at the St. Lucie County Welfare Home in 1960. Her grave wasn't even marked until Alice Walker made it her job to find it and put a proper marker on it in 1973.

I found it amazing! He rode around 1 area of the city. What about the south, west and east of the city. Also for this being the hood where are the thugs, crackheads and homeless people hanging around on the streets because in my travels of many cities that's what a real hood looks like. Interesting, I plan on moving my family here. New homes, and nice beaches. The area you highlight is impoverished. ALL cities have hoods. This is impoverished. Hood to me is drug dealing on the corners, drinking shooting up in public. robberies and murder are the norm. The current crime stats are mainly Larceny that's in downtown FP. Ive lived in worse in Tampa, Indianapolis, LA, Kansas City and San Berdoo.
As someone who was born and raised in Fort Pierce...and currently still lives here, just a half mile from where he was in this video...i can assure you this town is absolutely what you think of when you think of a hood. Pills (Opiates, mainly Dilaudid, Opana and Roxi), Molly (not MDMA but dangerous research chemicals dealers claim to be MDMA but are more like Meth) and also Crack, Coke and Meth are RAMPANT in this town...also in PSL too, just more sporadic in PSL. I hear gun shot at LEAST a couple nights a week, especially after midnight. Drive By shootings are a common occurrence. Prostitution is a huge issue here as well. And yes along with many trap houses that sell drugs there are also plenty of drug dealers posted outside local corner stores (mostly selling Crack and Weed, while the pills are at trap houses along with Molly, and also at the Sunset inn aka The Molly Motel on US1) How do I know all this? I know many people involved in that world. And I had a time in my life where I was using Opioids/Dilaudid and Opana[2 years of my life], bought on several of the same streets seen in this video around Ave D/including the Reno Motel....i've been out of that life thankfully for 5 years now thanks to the local Methadone clinic saving my and many others in this area's life. So i speak with personal knowledge be aware of what you are getting in to by coming here. I am 35. Born and raised in The Fort and have seen it all here.

Fort Fierce! I lived in Fort Pierce for six years and worked as a Public Defender and RCC. I loved its character and working class atmosphere. It does not pretend to be anything else than what it is. Having said that, I left to raise my son. My clients and their significant others were being shot. The last day my wife was in town she witnessed a shooting. She was able to leave the scene because she was the only white witness. It was too dangerous. Also the racial disparities in sentencing are appalling. In many ways it is still a great place for surfing, fishing and growing plants. We used to have wild hogs behind our house.

So true. Im from Puerto Rico and Ft Pierce has some areas that remind me of home in terms of the southern old time buildings, snook fishing and tropical landscapes. However, not too good for raising children and the crime is rampant. Overall a city with great potential if the community decided to unite and work to make it better.

Ft Pierce has its share of neglected areas just like any city/town. Certainly lots of room for improvement, same can be said for anywhere USA. You totally disregarded the positive. Ft Pierce has an amazing history and more than its fair share of beautiful structures , a lot of which are being restored (i.e. St Anastasia and surrounding area.). Take the good with the bad but don't just focus on the bad.
Sorry but the percentage of the town in despair vastly outnumbers any town in Florida. Cities bad areas are 20% of the cityscape not more than half.

Fort Pierce used to be the murder capital of the country 2-3 decades ago. Since then they have really made it a much safer place and hasn’t been in the top 100 most dangerous cities list for 2 years. It’s a great city with great people

Its very disrespectful and I (being a resident of Fort Pierce for over 18 years) feel that this is a very misleading video. I have lived in Port Saint Lucie for 29 years. I went to Dan McCarty Middle School 1993-1994 because of bussing. I was accepted to Lincoln Park Academy for highschool and didn’t even go. I went to PSL High and was a major change! Now Fort Pierce has changed for the good. Still have shady politics and issues like any town has in Amercia. Port Saint Lucie is the safest city in Florida and have a big population now since the pademic.

@@Florida46 do you live in Stuart or Jensen Beach? Tradition is beautiful in Port Saint Lucie also. What Port Saint Lucie desperately needs a downtown as the other cities here has also. They should mix it with industrial look and or a Spanish flair. Should also make connections to Rio de Santa Lucia and the old Spanish fort lost in 1566. But I am not the mayor here. I can agree somewhat downtowns Stuart and Jensen Beach is beautiful also.
@@Archivist1492 unlike Saint Lucie county at least Martin county isn't a county of a high crime rate, shady businesses, prostitution, homicide, government housing, etc. I have a friend who has been an officer with the fort Pierce police department for 22 years and a homicide detective for 17 years now in fort Pierce. I asked him why and he responded...the very high crime rate across Saint Lucie county keeps me always busy and occupied and the Martin county Sheriff's department is just a nice tour sipping a margarita.
