I personaly place Etta on the same pedastal as Aretha more similar than differant and both did not have things too easy growing up as children and ended up performing very similar repoitoires including some same covers of some of the classic R n B This Eagles song in particular really is made for Etta although my favoueite is the live TV Telephon for Charity version from about 82 ish ? with the Hollywood Horns and her regular musicians where she does an extended version of this song plus i Cant turn you loose Wow
Wonder if Randy ever heard Etta’s version? I think he would’ve dug it 😊. Personally I think Randy’s version is the ultimate but this is an interesting interpretation.
