- Soul great Etta James performs "Take It To The Limit" and "I Can't Turn You Loose" backed by The Hollywood Rock N' Roll Revue. This was live in the overnight hours of the 1982 National Easter Seal Telethon. The National Easter Seal Telethon was a national telethon that benefited the National Easter Seal Society and aired in the United States from 1972-1997. I am a collector interested in classic telethon footage; for Easter Seals particually 1970s and early 80s. If you have anything to share or trade please get in touch with me by message on this RUclips channel, or write me at thetelethonchannel@gmail.com .

WOW! Imagine no auto tune, no lip synching, to studio faking! Real voice. Real music.
Should’ve been a worldwide superstar
She WAS, rest her soul.
How to steal a song from the original artist and OWN it. Etta James illustrates how you "cover" a song. You don't, you do it your way and treat it with respect. True greatness. RIP sweet soulful Sista.
who would ever imagine that ETTA could take a Eagles song TO THE LIMIT like she does !!!
Different to Randy, but is there anything this Lady could not sing?
Etta was beyond amazing!!! This performance is gold
couldnt have said it better myself! what a woman, what a woman.
Love all your songs Etta, you are special❤❤

I could never figure out what made her who she was, it wasn't that she was such a great singer ,and she truly was , but it was that she absolutely loved what she was doing ,which was singing .I love , love , love that voice . thank you for helping me figure that out . She WAs AMAZING .

Todays R&B and Rap vs Etta James and other former class singers with real voices and real blues and soul in their very beings. No contest.
Todays Rap and R&B 0
Etta James 10
The bands that Etta used 10
I guess these figures say to R&B and Rap, Close the door on your way out.
Please singers l beg you, Bring back the class into soul and blues.
Etta forever and god bless her saintly soul.

wow, just wow. i've always found take it to the limit to be a moving piece of music, but Etta...wow.
Love her!
brilliant!
I would have loved to hear her sing this song WITH the Eagles. All of the gospel, all of the funk, all of the harmonies.
Thanks for posting.. Never seen this one.. Awesome lady .. blessed inspiration! Thank you Ms. Etta.
Pity that the Deep In The Night Album isn’t considered a masterpiece comeback!
Etta had many comebacks and labels!!!
Her early outputs were superior to any of her well done post discovery albums! I got everything Etta put out from the word go!
Thanks!!!
This really does make the eagles version seem like a cheesy cover of Etta's masterpiece.
@brianrayguitar Brian, I saw Etta a bunch of times back in the '70s and you were always great. Thanks and long live.
No auto tune, lip synching and weak voices that need the sound turned up! Beautiful unadulterated voice that was more powerful than a real live band! Today's talentless should take note!
Absolutely take note.
woooww!!!!
