- We finally got the new transmission in the foxbody. AOD with 4r70w internals. We had to make some changes to the TV cable in the next video along with a governor change to fine tune the exact wide open throttle shift points.

Im really glad to see some AOD content! Its good to see that you are enjoying it. As my name implies Im rocking an AOD myself and its promising to see that you can still have a cool car even though its an auto. While the temptation is always there to switch to manual its good to know theres nothing wrong with being a little different than most.

With these cars it's different being auto with newer mustangs it's different being manual everybody jumped on that 10 speed band wagon lol. I prefer a stick but you can Def make an auto run and make it fun much more than stock. The old autos suck bad stock imo.

@@malcombailey8590 I purchased my parts from Monster Transmission. I would do some research first before ordering because you hear good things and bad. My experience was good however my delivery time was a little slow due to covid.

My Lentech AOD rated for 800 Hp
A well built AOD can take it with the proper build.
Definitely add external cooler to keep fluid cooler.
Besides the typical C4 transmission... this is the 1st AOD transmission in a Fox that I have seen with details 😭 !!! What a miracle in FORD history🙌!!!

I've had automatics through the years and never had an issue now with boost I love it. Nothing wrong with 2 pedels

Building my trans very similar, except I have a SilverFox SPT-MVB. Full manual with OD on a switch. Can't wait to try it, especially now!😁😁
Yes I would like to switch to a built aod good job with. The carbon fox is my favorite.
My first fox was an aod. Put a b and m 2400 stall with shift kit. Just fbo 390 gears. Kicked some ls1 ass back in the day

Gets boring, i would rather have a 5 speed,more fun,had a few aod one is they dont last!especially with the tv cable going out of adjustments,two is the price of a good aod is easy $3,000+++ not the junk boxs on ebay.me personally, 5 speed, 410,a little shot of spray besides the cam,exhaust, suspension etc.fun weekend car.if i want a drag car aod

I'm happy for you brother, finally got a solid trans setup in her! She is going to be a blast daily driving and cruising around. And with plenty of room to grow on that trans you can throw anything you want at it horsepower wise and it'll take it, can't wait to see what blower you go with!
Can you play with the shifts with the 4R70W? I know he put a Valve body in it which might help. How much HP can it take?

FYI, the W in 4R70W means wide, as in ratio spread, the AOD/AOD-E is a narrow ratio gearset . Great content.

The meaning of W is correct the rest not so much. Ratios are the same.
@@anthonygrebner yeah, it's actually a wider ratio than the AOD, the 75E has the same ratio spread as the 70W, thanks.
I would be interested in you kit. I'm planning on installing an AOD on my 79 with a 347 stroker build. Doing a street cruiser/sleeper.

We’ve gotten a lot of rain here lately and we definitely needed it.

Get a cheap bubble balancer for your tires. They do work great. I’m sure a lot of people would be interested in seeing tools like that shown on your channel
I’ve got a 4r70w that I’m doing in my fox right now with all the sonnax updates. Waiting on parts running GPZ friction with kolene steels. Run a manual valvebody.

Got the same Wheels they're hard to keep balance they sling weights off for some reason and they're just hard to balance love the looks but that's what I found on them

It kinda took me by surprise honestly. I knew it would shift better but I didn’t expect that right of the gate.
@@BREW2LFOXBODY my car was aod wheni got it and had it rebuilt twice, once just stock rebuild, then second time with 3200 stall FTI converter and Silver Fox Valve body, mine never shifted like yours! Somtimes it seemed like it would almost skip over 2nd gear, so I said that's enough of that, Im swapping to T5! Now I kind of want to do a built C4 or Turbo 400 swap for drag racing!

Nice work! the direct drive shaft makes them shift instantly I like how it sounds and shifts with the Wide gear set too. If your ever interested in how the one piece shaft works in the AOD I can tell you it’s smoother and not as aggressive in its upshifts. So if your into the tire busting between upshifts than your better off with the two piece shaft. Thanks for the content once again good stuff.
Thanks brother. My converter locks both shafts together. It’s kind of a hybrid in a sense from what I was told.
Would the stock input Shaft work well with the 4r70w?

@@awee5816 Yes for the 4R70w but not with the AOD it’s weak and it will break much easier I know this from experience lol.. There is a 300m shaft for the AOD that is much tougher by far and will last.
@@nathankipping784 if the AOD was stock but with a stock converter would the 300m shaft fit perfectly in the Fox?
How is the shift timing? Do the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts happen at the same RPM at WOT? Part throttle? Minimum throttle? Likely not, and that is why the 4R70W gearset wasn't ever a really good idea for the AOD. The best AOD setup is to be set up for a conventional open converter(one-piece input and C6 converter is an example) and a good final drive ratio for the application. If you NEED the 4R70W gearset, install a 4R70W and get all the benefits of it with programmable shift points, line pressure rise, and TCC - it's become quite available and economical and is a better unit overall.

@@BREW2LFOXBODY yeah I know how that is when I built my wife's car. Went from 5 speed to a c4 reverse valve body that made it feel like it was a lot torqueier, more responsive. A transmission can make a big difference in these fox bodies

Lol. That’s how people burn up transmissions. Playing with the tv. Cable. This was common knowledge by 1990 . Thanks 4 showing ruin equipment.
Tv cable adjustment is necessary.

I won't build a early aod for the main reason the overdrive band is small and are prone to burning up and you can't use the larger aode/4r70w band because of the case. That thing seems pretty stout though none the less
The mods are explained in the trans buildup video. The case has been modified etc for the new guts and hybrid valve body/ cable.

Or you can buy a 1995-96 ford explorer 2wd transmission (not XLT) and it will bolt right up

WTF! AOD transmission on a Fox 🦊 😃!!! This is a New Content cultural breaker in the Fox body 🦊 community. That would be weird to see content on an AOD with an E-brake. I'm not sure if you can Use those for a Daily though.
Another 🎊Surprise🎉 is to see someone install a transmission cooler radiator. There's no content on that for Foxes and the different types of AOD transmission coolers. Also a strong input shaft and the difference between stock, 2 piece, and 1 piece. What the difference between lock up and non lock up converters and shafts.

Not trans related, noticed they mickeys stacked on the floor and seen other videos where you also had the nitto n555r2 which do you feel is a better tire?. I’m running the n555r now they at the end of their life.
The MTs are definitely better but I prefer the 555s for wet weather and daily driving.
