Got the older model and doing some gaming in it, my RTX 3070 8gb goes to 95 degrees on mostly any games and around 65 to 80 degrees for browsing and basic excel, pretty bad thermals and not enough vram seems to be the big issue with the pro art lineup
Great video as always, do you have any videos where you compare laptops for creators? I have been looking at this one for a long time, and it seems really nice. But maybe theres some good alternatives. Thanks
There is a new kid on the block now. The ProArt P16 with the new AMD Ryzen AI 9 Hx 370 processor! When will we get a review of that one and comparison with the Studiobook 16?
Regarding the card reader it is SD express 7.0. If you don’t put in a 7.0 card, the reader reverts to 80MB/s speed so you can’t get your v90 card’s full potential unfortunately. Still a great laptop!
THanks for putting together detailed reviews of this device. Not many creators noticed this laptop it seems. Just one question; do you have that screen door effect on the screen and if yes, how intrusive is it?
I have the little brother of this the Zenbook Pro 14 OLED and it's the same pros and cons on this one. Especially the card reader is a big disappointment, because I do a lot of photography...it's just slow. If I'm on the go and I know that speed will be crucial, I take my Prograde card reader. If you do figure it out, please let us know :) This laptop has the touch only productivity dial and I tried it and that was the last time I used it. Maybe one can find a special use case were it shines and actually helps getting things done faster, but certainly not in photoshop. Keyboard shortcuts are far more superior, because it's faster that way. So I guess it's the same on the ProArt even though it's a physical button. The battery... like any Windows laptop - sucks. That is simply the reality once you start really working on these machines. I wonder if it's a general OS issue that has hindered progress in this area for years. Apple has figured it out, but then again, they make the laptop from start to finish and that might be the key. Regardless, they figured it out, so it can't be that hard. Asus claims that my laptop can last up to 10h...hmm...once you read the fineprint of how the test is conducted...gives you a chukle :) Thanks for the video!!! I'm actually writing a blog article about my laptop as well on my photo site, but waiting for the USB charger to arrive so I can test that out.
I followed your instructions on upgrading to 64 gigs of RAM and storage to the letter. It was smooth sailing. I appreciate it a lot. But I have to say, “my” experience, as far as performance, has been the opposite - even with the upgrades. 1. I don’t know if it’s a codec specific thing but my 10 bit 4K footage from my Sony camera literally makes the footage look like stop motion animation in Premiere. It’s unusable. I have to convert the footage to 4k 8 bit. 2. When I do use 8 bit 4k I can play it in the timeline with no color grade. But if I stack a few images on top of one another and add just two adjustment layers for color I either have to view the playback in 1/4 or 1/2 speed. That is insane. If not that I have to render the footage immediately to get smooth playback. 3. All my projects were on HDD external hard drives so I anticipated sluggish transfer speed to my premiere projects. But I have moved all the footage from the external hard drives on to the new ssd. Creating files or moving content freezes the action to where I get that (non responsive) message and then it sputters into action or creating a file. I have seen your screen and praise but this thing is not anywhere near the buttery-smooth performance I see you experiencing and I have no clue as to why.
@@theTechNotice yes. All windows updates and gpu drivers current. Had no issues with BIOS either. There is no fluidity at all even in simple processes like creating new folders. Like I said, I’ll get the “not responding” message or there are very noticeable pauses from one action to the next. And thanks to your RAM update instructions I can see that I may be using only 40% of it’s capacity while running a project and it’s dropping frames at n extremely high rate or extremely choppy with minimal corrections. And I have also noticed that if I export a 5 or 7 minute movie it almost takes that same amount of time for it to create the file. Yes, I do two scans on export but on my former Predator laptop I was getting half those times or less.
I use cad software and 3D modeling and rendering and I don't know how to use that wheel... If Asus launch a new version it will be great that has more VRAM, maybe an 18" option...
Great review thank you. Based on your opinion, what other laptops would you recommend to match/ compete with this in performance and portability/ battery life?

Great content! Would you have any advice for someone that purchased DDR5 5600Mhz Sodimms for this laptop but can’t get them to run at any speed but 4800mhz?
Great content!!! It would be wonderful if you compare this notebook with the new one of 2024. Asus made a lot of improvements but they changed the processor for AMD that really not a fan and also they reduced 50% of the screen's refresh rate, from 120Hz to 60Hz. I think it was a terrible decision. I'm very interested on this machine but I don't know which should I pick. Thanks.
Can you remove battery from laptop and run directly plugged in ? Does this laptop gives same performance then ? Can you disable battery charging at preferred charged number ?
It has an option in the MyASUS control panel to charge to 80% and also an option to charge to 100% for the next 24 hours. You can't adjust the percentage, but it is a nice feature. I don't know the answer to the first part.

Macbook Pros have made me used to almost silent operation, so as oon as this StudioBook is in Performance mode the fan noise gets annoying.
