@@elyssa_aesthetic oh! You're welcome! You deserve it! Your videos are so informative I can't help but to come back! 😊 And you're totally right! Getting to know the "whys" has been world opening! A total game changer!
I’m a soft gamine who loves high waisted jeans and I find that cropped “balloon cut” jeans do the trick! (Even if they don’t end up being cropped on me lol) most jeans advertised as mom/boyfriend jeans end up being fitted on me since I have a very defined waist compared to my thighs, but balloon jeans tend to have a more exaggerated round shape so they still give the baggy fit I’m going for but are tapered at the waist and ankle so I don’t look sloppy :) an absolute godsend that no one seems to talk about, people ask me all the time where I get my jeans from/what style they are (btw my jeans are from ASOS, the sizing options r great because u can choose whichever length and waist fit u)
ew no I’ve found the same thing. I bought as pair of “slouchy” pants by Stradivarius on Asos that have that balloon cut you mentioned, high waist, and a cuff at the ankle to taper. I love them and I’m a Theatrical Romantic
@@tarannumnasser3913 Yes! Abercrombie makes a great curvy fit mom jean. I highly recommend it if you need extra thigh/hip space (which is common for TR and R, maybe SN too!!
As a petite theatrucal romantic with wide hips and full thighs compared to my kinda dainty and slim upper body, all I have to say about this is YES. Lol, so true.
I loved this! I’m 55, 5’ 2” almost always wear petite everything, and cannot for the life of me find a pair of BF jeans to work! This convinced me to give up! Lol! Thanks! You’re a doll!
I love your content! I like that you explain how to marry an aesthetic with a body type. How to break the Kibbe rules perfectly! I like dressing more androgynous but I'm a SD so every other channel recommends femme fatale dresses! Thank you for this
Thanks Elyssa! I notice you don't use the Kibbe IDs in this video, even though you seem to "describe" them, if you will. I think it would be helpful to pepper the labels into the conversation, just to clarify for those of us who subscribe to the system. It would also help make sure all the bases are covered - I'm a Dramatic and still a little bit unsure, since you said "moderately narrow and elongated" like Posh Spice - I'm all the way narrow and elongated, plus sharp/angular! Just by saying Ns look good, Rs struggle for this reason, Gs struggle for this reason, Ds can tweak it like this, would be really helpful imo :)
I dont really agree to this. There is a myriad of reason why she doesn't use the kibbe ids. One of them being that kibbe lovers tend to go crazy in the comment section when any You Tuber does not prescribe exactly to everything he says (even though he seems to just want to make money by making everything as obtuse and complex as possible just to make sure no one else can "type" besides him). Then, not only that but Elyssa wants every one to figure out the lines of their body instead of focusing on pre-determined labels that were not even created by kibbe. All kibbe did was give labels to the subtypes. This channel is really not about Kibbe and his convoluted system. This channel is about the history of image identities, how to figure out your lines and the aesthetics that you like. If you guys want to use that to convey a set of lines that you have to other people, that's fine but i like that Elyssa doesn't do this cause it really takes the focus away from predetermined labels to a set of lines and shapes.
@@bethanyday3471 This. Thiiiiis. THIS. I think Kibbe's system is a nice starting point (just as an introduction to showing how flesh lays on bones in different ways; and useful because the content is accessible), but people take everything too literally. Will go at each other's throats for "mistyping" someone when no one is really using the system properly to begin with.
New subscriber, I totally love your content! You have a similar body type as me, I am 4'10" with narrow shoulders and curvier waist/hips. Thank you for explaining the boyfriend jeans, makes so much sense!!

Thanks! This was helpful. I’m still trying to figure out what body type I am, at the moment I’d say probably a SD but I can sometimes disguise myself as a FN. I have a pare of boyfriend jeans that I love....sometimes. Your explanations helped me understand why and how to find some control in nailing the look. Thank you!!
Maia Heiss I’m so glad this was helpful!! And ultimately my aim is to navigate away from assigning a particular style to an archetype and illuminate how to accommodate each individual body based on easily identifiable attributes. The fact of the matter is that we’re all so unique that we’ll likely have to make some sort of little tweak or adjustment here or there. Personally, once I stopped focusing so much on labeling myself and really considered how to bring balance, everything started to fall into place ✨
Omg this is fantastic! I love your attention to detail and the level of depth that you go into for garments and aesthetics (like your Geek Chic video). A bit embarrassing, but I've always wanted to be seen as "cute". I know all bodies are amazing, and I love my lines, but I'm a dramatic classic who wants to be adorable like a soft gamine or theatrical romantic can and...I'm struggling. Do you (or anyone else out there) have any advice?
The story of my life! I have thick thighs and I love the look of boyfriend jeans however, they do NOT love me back 😔 Wide legs are definitely my go to as well...or I just save myself the trouble altogether, toss the jeans completely and continue to rock my comfy joggers 🤷🏾♀️
Såłł _G thank you for the feedback!!! I’ve been struggling with moving past the traditional Kibbe system to start presenting things through my perspective. I’m really trying to avoid the stereotypes and open everyone up to the idea that pretty much any aesthetic can be adapted and it really just comes down to overall body composition and balance/harmony. But to make produced videos like this, especially with all the images, takes a lot of work and I find myself so entrenched in the project that I start to have doubts. So feedback like your is very much appreciated!!! 💛
Elyssa I literally get so excited when I see an upload! Your content doesn’t just teach me a new perspective, but have me start to think differently in general
I haven't been able to figure out my kibbe type (tall and curvy is confusing), but this REALLY helped me figure out I'm not in the natural category. I've always had to stay away from these jeans as I gravitate toward a cleaner, darker, skinnier, high-waisted look; hitting at or below the ankle, not above it. I have a better idea of what to try that might work for me now. ❤
To me the jeans I still haven't found to be looking right for me are the "mom jeans" . I really love them but as a Flamboyant gamine my waist is skinny and legs are short and skinny and no ass at all so whenever I try on a pair it looks like a piece of fabric hanging on my skeleton with NO curves at all :(
Laura Jaine mom jeans usually don’t have any sort of distressing, are very high waisted (belly button), and fit more snug in the hip area and then are relaxed at the legs (but not loose). They also don’t have a dropped crotch
Great video!!! I think you captured the differences very well. Everybody should see this and understand that bf jeans can be so unflattering for many and just don't force... I always felt that bf jeans doesn't work for me. I feel I appear to be much heavier and very wide and just gets me uncomfortable to look at myself. However I'm so confused because I'm very tall (6 ft) but I'm also a bit 'stonger', in the meaning of 'not narrow', and not really curvy. So in a sense it would 'need' to work for me. Also I'm quite a mixture of opposites and have been suggested I may be FG, even being so tall, and as you said, bf jeans is not flattering for gamines... just wondering.
I loved the ones at 3:11. The outfit is so me! Do you know where I can find those jeans and even the sweater? 😄 Also, where can I buy boyfriend jeans? All I can find is just a bunch of mom jeans and extremely high waisted jeans...
Why did you mostly show women of color for the what doesn't work or bigger women of color for curvy, as if their aren't bigger white women? I am a woman of color and have a body like Jennifer Aniston.
thank you a lot, Elyssa. I find myself struggling with pants in general to the extent I always search for skirts instead. I'm a soft gamine with a curvy body. I avoid skinny jeans coz I don't want to show a lot of curves and I also hate the relaxed pants even if they are tapered, they make me curvier. I also struggle with the fabric material. polyester and elastin fabrics are unflattering on me. which body type this kind of fabric is harmonized with? I even noticed Jenna Coleman wears a lot of skirts. what's the problem with soft gamine body type LOL
S H we are one of the most challenging body types to bring balance since it challenges current trends. But there is most certainly nothing wrong with us!!!! We just have to accept that our approach to bring balance is a little different. I definitely overall prefer skirts over pants. And I particularly love more boxy mini skirts. I’m not as curvy so I don’t mind more form fitting pants like the ones I was wearing in the intro. I’m actually planning on doing a video on the fabric types that are most complimentary for the body types. It just takes me so long to hunt down images and edit my videos that it’s slow going. Also, I think it’s worth saying too.....not everyone with the same archetype will necessarily accommodate their body and bring harmony in the same exact way.
