i'm glad that people from all over the world watch him cooking... he makes authentic italian food not reproductions! that's the way we do it.. cheers from sicily and a big shout out to gennaro 👍👍👍
passion&love makes the meal taste better also. I ate a meal with the same recepy from two different persons. but the one who cooks it with passion&love make it so much bvetter.
Passion or borderline senility? For one thing, the family seems frightened out of their wits. They're cheering and waving their hands every time he turns to them like if they don't they're going into the lasagna next
This recipe came out 7 years ago when I was 17. I've been using it since then but stopped cooking during college. Today, I come back to cook it once again. Timeless recipe!
I love watching Gennaro cook. It's like a magic trick watching him lovingly put things together. I'm sure if i tried to put the same things together i would end up with something quite different.
This is the best lasagne recipe I've ever tried, it freezes extremely well and tastes even better when reheated after defrosting. The tip with the aluminium foil makes such a difference in cooking the pasta evenly. Thank you so much Gennaro and Jamie!
Thank You Gennaro for teaching us your classic family recipes! Reminds me of my late grandfather's cooking. Tons of butter for everything. So impressive that you don't have big gut eating the way you do! My grandfather passed away from high blood pressure and cholesterol problems. Never stopped him from eating and cooking his delicious meals for the family. Stay healthy Gennaro! Looks like your family will enjoy your cooking for many many years to come!
New Years resolution: be as passionate about anything as this man is about food. Then work hard enough to be as good at my passion as Gennero is at food.
For my fellow American viewers, I weighed out the items to convert from metric weight to cups. It's not exact, but I was within a few grams on each measurement. It was close enough to taste as good as Gennaro is claiming: 1/2 Cup of Butter 1 Cup of Flour 4 Cups of Milk 1 Cup of Parmesan Cheese Also, I made a 1/4 recipe and I had enough to make a whole lasagna with none leftover.
+Michał Kondratowicz for some reason i think he is just a narcissist without a fuckin' reason. and he doesn't know how to cook. he burns his food all the time.
I can never understand how store bought lasagne layers perfectly, and seems to be choreographed in its preparation. Some of the best lasagnes ive made came from the oven bubbling and bending into all kinds of shapes, not looking like layers of stainless steel separated by meat and cheese. To see Gennaros do this, makes me proud ;)
Oh dear lord that looks so good i was drooling on my keyboard just watching . Gennaro all your food is just so amazing ... and simple too even a dummy like me can make it .
You and Jamie are not only fabulous cooks, but you both seem like really fun people !! just love watching you both !! can't wait to try your ragu... Thank you.
Bravo Gerrano Bravo!!! I love your recipes and the way you teach them are so magicaly simple and are the best! I am Greek, i love Italy and Italian food and i follow your recipes, like the krispy chicken and i loved it. Only you can explain how to cook a complex food like lazagne and ragu and still with your magical simplicity make it look so easy and fun. God bless you:-) Hope when i come with my family in Italy i could see you and shake your hand👍
I Love Italian cuisine. All heck I might as well admit it that since I am born and raised dye in the wool south eastern USA we folk eat anything that tastes good and properly seasoned and cooked well. Not matter what culture the cuisine came from. Being that USA Southern cuisine is a mix of several cultural foods and ingredients that says a lot about what we will eat if it tastes good. One last thing as a personal note to Jamie Oliver. I have great respect for people who honor their elders and mentors and it is very honorable that you pushed your mentor Gennaro Contaldo to the forefront like you have. It's a show of respect to who instilled a passion in you for Italian cooking.
I have always said "simple food is GREAT FOOD!", and this is GREAT FOOD, indeed! Now I have to watch the ragu video and I am thinking of making this for the weekend, for my daughter's birthday. She LOVES home made lasagna, and so do I. No meat necessary with this yumminess.❣
so true !!! Brisket and Pork with Puglia wine etc . 4 hours slow cook until the brisket chunks fell to tiny bits .Made the day before .The smell is unreal . Also is amazing on a pizza base
We love you too Gennaro's your videos are perfect and i love to cook everything you are making,i am a very good cook too.Thanx for the entertaining videos, keep making them please.
Thank you so very much Gennaro. Today you taught me the proper way to make a rago. It's always been so stressful for me. Not even to speak about your lasagna, best ever. Thank you very much.
Oh dear, I wanted to lose 15 pounds in the new year. Do you have any idea how long I have to run to make up for lasagna! =D Thanks for the great recipe, Gennaro! You are my favorite on Food Tube.
I've made this dish TWICE now and each time it was a HIT at my dinner table. I've made a beschamel before for a French fish dish, but never before in a Lasagne, it was so flavorful, and his technique was so easy to follow. Also added small slices from a Grana Padano rind to the beschamel, and in the Ragu and later infused it in the dish as it baked.
I'm successfully learned how cook lasagna from this video, and keep watching it after all this years, because of Gennaro and how he cooks you watch forever..
White sauce(Béchamel) first: 100g unsalted butter, melt in a pot add 80g of flower, mix Add 1L of milk, mix well, stir long Add 100g of parmesan cheese(stirred), mix Add 2 pinches of salt Add pepper Grate quarter of a nutmeg Cook until its getting thick. For lasagne you need: -500g of lasagne sheets Need about 1 deep bowl of Ragu 2 large soft balls of Mozzarella cheese Grated parmesan For lasagne layers: Put Ragu on the bottom of lasagne cooking pan Cover with lasagne sheet, put Ragu on the sheet, put white sauce, put pieces of Mozzarella and grate Parmesan cheese, cover with lasagne sheet; repeat until go up to the end of lasagne pan. Put in the oven 180C for 35-45 minutes
I always add some Colman's English mustard to a cheese sauce - obviously it's not authentic Italian that way, but it really adds to the cheese flavour... I would add nutmeg to a bechamel (white sauce) but not to a cheese sauce, personally.
I love his enthusiasm! Subscribed. I just made this béchamel for my Christmas lasagne (tmrw) and I'll never go back to ricotta. Delicious!! I loved the hallelujah at the end! Great video and recipe =)
He's one of the few cooks that I watch for the person and not the food.
U sayin his food sucks?!?!?!

Whatever Genarro cooks, it is always a winner. Thank you Genarro you are my Italian inspiration.
This recipe came out 7 years ago when I was 17. I've been using it since then but stopped cooking during college. Today, I come back to cook it once again. Timeless recipe!
"We need a nice aluminum foil" - i have no doubt that even his foil tastes better than mine.
I season my aluminium foil before cooking

Hey whoever you are, hope you found something to be passionate about!
This has been my goto Lasagne for years, amazingly easy recipe to follow and it comes out amazing
Half of the reason I watch Gennaro is for the cockney/Italian accent. I could listen to it all day.
It looks extremly good .I will try it this weekend and i am sure i will enjoy it like your family did.Thank you Gennaro
Feed a family? I would eat that entire thing myself!
I am also very, very alone.
I miss the touch of a woman.
Escalated quickly.
Consider yourself lucky.
The best comment ive read for a long time! I would seriously buy u a beer...
Your comment is youtube gold! Made me actually laugh out loud instead of the usual air out of nose blow.
Lol
i love the way you teach cooking. Keep on teaching ....i 'll keep on learning .THANKS God bless you
Gennaro is my favorite chef on youtube. Fantastico Gennaro!

Damn, that looks amazing and Gennaro's enthusiasm makes it a hundred times better.
I cooked this for our Christmas lunch and it it came out AMAZING! Just as good as the ones I've had at the high-end Italian restaurants.
I've tried this recipe with his ragu sauce recipe too. I've done it twice now and it always works. Is super tasty and my guests always love it!
How can anyone dislike any of this guys videos. It's nothing but pure passion and it's amazing.
I love this guy !! Great personality and passion for cooking. ❤❤
Explained the layer method well. The final look and colour of the finished dish was well displayed on his video

"Come on, this is quick!" (spent half the day making the ragu)
That ragù is worth it. It’s one of the best recipes I’ve ever made, and I’ve done a LOT of cooking in my time.
You have to feed the family like Gennaro
I make much more than I need. The rest comes in portioned zip bags. I make Bolognese Sauce and use it for quick Spaghetti preparation.
so true !!! Brisket and Pork with Puglia wine etc . 4 hours slow cook until the brisket chunks fell to tiny bits .Made the day before .The smell is unreal . Also is amazing on a pizza base
So nice! I love Genaro and his cooking, he looks like such a wonderful person, totally the Italia that I dream about.
I love Genarro's energy! ❤️ I'm inspired to make lasagna. Thank you J. O. for sharing G. C. to us

Is there anyone else who watches this video over and over again? That lasagna looks sooo delicious!😩😍😱
And Gennaro is just the best 😍😂
He makes cooking so easier. Love this guy!
I love the bit where he accepts hesitantly that he loves cheddar cheese... hard for a proud Italian to admit!?
not for a real italian, maybe for americans who think they are italian but lived in the usa their whole life, they get offended quickly
Why? He is a real chef. They are usually very open-minded when it comes to foreign influences on local cuisines.
I think maybe he's just being political.
Cheddar is a great cheese, and not just for burgers. By a random Italian commentator.
My Uncle Franco in calabria loves when we bring him cheddar cheese Frome England 😁
I love this guy and love his food! Molto Benne Bravissimo Gennaro!
This channel is by far the most mouth watering place on RUclips
Tried it today and it was amazing. Thank you, Chef !
Oh dear, I wanted to lose 15 pounds in the new year.
Do you have any idea how long I have to run to make up for lasagna! =D

What a beautiful yard to share authentic fresh lasagna with family and friends.
I made this last night with our homemade pasta! Great idea! Thanks!
Combined with the Family Ragu this is a genius recipe. Thank you best lasagna I’ve ever tried.
For the bechamel sauce: Hot Rue (flour+butter), cold milk, NO LUMPS! (thank you chef John)

I tried it a few months ago and the family loved it. So they have asked me to make it again.

I always add some Colman's English mustard to a cheese sauce - obviously it's not authentic Italian that way, but it really adds to the cheese flavour... I would add nutmeg to a bechamel (white sauce) but not to a cheese sauce, personally.
Jamie is such a G. He's genuinely a good dude. He puts his mates on. Much love👍🏼
- "whoo! few seconds." lmao! such a liar. I love Gennaro.
I love his enthusiasm! Subscribed. I just made this béchamel for my Christmas lasagne (tmrw) and I'll never go back to ricotta. Delicious!! I loved the hallelujah at the end! Great video and recipe =)
