I'd love to see them back on the channel again!
i wish i could hang out with the few people who still come back to these old bon iver videos
Ay! Glad I'm not alone / recently commented. IbRandomly just type in 'Bon Iver live' and zone out listening to them.

The plot twist
I am 14 years old in 7 days. My step father introduced this video to me when I was in 1st grade."he was still my mom's boyfriend at the time"
A few years later they got married and he became my legal stepfather.
Every year maybe once or twice, we will be in the car and this song gets brought up.
We put the song on full volume and we sing along with it.
.Last Christmas I got a guitar and thos was the first song I ever WANTED to learn. I plan to one day be able to play it with him. It truly makes me happy when I hear this song. And it really changed my life.
And I will never forget the day my dad showed me it.
Sounds GREAT ! Learn it ;-) ...an put the Video on RUclips
I hope this is true, you got all the 35+ aunties in the youtube comments from here to infinity crying
I hope you get to play it in front of him one day.. that's an awesome story!
What a beautiful story! I remember the first time I heard bon iver too, super special moment and the dude that introduced me to my favorite musician has no idea lol
Thanks Cruz, I wish you all the best!
10 hours of "For Emma" but it's just Justin Vernon slowly chasing Parisians around the city.

A few dozen people walk away from them singing, but here on youtube it has been listened to over 2 million times by thousands of people. Strange how that works.
+John Evans Poor circumstantial timing?
How fear works on human beings you'll mean?;) You could look it up if you're interested. Generally were talking about human instinct behavior on fear there. Humans are in such a transition of change these days though, in many ways.
+John Evans it works like this. you see a lot of people walking away from chocolate stores because that's either not what they want or they were busy. but the facebook page for chocolate has millions of likes.

It’s wild how I still find myself coming back to this video, I feel like it resonates with me more and more the older I get.

I recently moved from Florida to Colorado. It’s a big strange shift during this very turbulent year. I’ve been a Bon iver fan for a long time but I somehow have never found this video. I’m so glad I did, because now when I look out at the mountains and I hear this, I feel home. For the first time in a long time.
That’s amazing. Thank you for that Ian :)

I love my boy bon but S.Carey gives him a run for his money I'm only discovering S.'s genius now... a little late but his albums are so damn good.
@@isaacking5071 great combo..S. Carey is a huge part of Bon's success
The bit where the tourists run away cracks me up every time. I keep noticing new things. The black chef taking a break. The people outside in the restaurant who are obviously listening to the music- which the camera captures in the last few moments of the song.
this whole album, especially this song, has helped me to understand what real love is.

I always thought Bon iver used effects to make their voice sound like this,I didn't realize it was a couple of singers with perfect harmonization. It's amazing, reminds me of Alice in chains with how great they sound together
The song he sings in the beginning is Drunkmare by Ticonderoga. You're all welcome.

Can’t believe this was 12 years ago. Bon Iver was a huge part of my late teens and early twenties. This will never go out of style for me.
The guy being interviewed at the beginning was the frenchest most French frenchman In the history of France.
I remember my older brother showing me this song when I was so young and didn’t know the meaning or anything about the song. I’m now 19 about to be 20 and this song means so much to me it hurts a lot .
Keep your head up kid unless you're jamming out. God has a plan for you
I was in Paris recently and visited the Montmartre without a map, just wondering around, hoping to find the park that they (and altj) played at. Right when I was about to head back, I saw a small park a couple blocks away and walked towards it. It just happened to be the same one. I just sat there for a while, taking in what had happened here several years prior.
That's great, I was thinking on doing the same... Do you have any directions you could give me? Thanks
+Alan Ixba-Zárate Take a look at the name of the buildings they pass when they go by the tour group. Those businesses are still there.
Thanks! Greetings
+Stephan Ng hah gay
orginallos I know that you mean that to be an insult, but it's a perfectly valid life choice (one of which I do not partake).
And I know that they say to never feed the trolls, but really? You reached into the vast caverns of all the words in the English language and all you could come up with was "gay"? If you are going to try and be insulting, at least do it properly.
However, if you chose to take the mature route and not try and retort, I would advise you to just quiet yourself and listen to the music instead of spreading prejudice and bigotry to anyone who will listen.
So abruptly
Saw death on a sunny snow
For every life
Forgo the parable
Seek the light
My knees are cold
Running home, running home
Running home, running home
Go find another lover
To bring a, to string along
With all your lies
You're still very lovable

This video is so beautiful, the music, their voices, the energy...I always cry every when I see it, i'm crying right now.
The first time I listened this song was 7 months ago, November, in Asturias. It was a rainy day and I was with my girlfriend and our dog inside of our house. She was studying and I was with the headphones listening this incredible song. I remember perfectly every detail of that moment, as if it were happening right now, so I'm going to write as if I were living it right now.
I only do one thing, observe Elena's beauty. The beauty of the moment. The beauty of life. I feel peace, gratitude and love. And I also feel melancholy, because I know that this moment will not last forever.
I only want to stop fucking time. Just her and me, and our dog, in the middle of the mountain. The rain, the fireplace, the music...
Since that moment, I have that memory in my head almost every day. I listen this beautiful song and I teleport to that moment. And I feel her beauty. I feel alive and at peace.
A part of me will always live in that moment.
Thank you for making me feel alive. Thanks for the music. Thanks for the love.

+Chel Belle maybe that's just life; maybe these things happen all the time around us but we just don't see them :D
It is a sign that you were called to be the "Right Place." You were called to bring joy to the broken, peace to the lost, and thought to the benighted.
Wish for it hard enough and it will happen to you. It happened to me.
They don't even need instruments. Just perfect.
The voice is an instrument. They've mastered the human instrument.

I'm not kidding now. Hearing this song live would probably cure my depression and those people are just walking away!? WTF????
5:11 That's the appartment where Albert Camus completed The Outsider/The Stranger.
No way, that's great little piece of trivia. How did you find that out?

Haha love how at 5:39 you actually see a woman 'running home'
The best.
If she only knew who it was, she wouldve been running to them. I know I would have.
I feel so lucky to have seen Bon Iver in 2012 after 2 brain surgeries, because I had 8 more after that and my concert days are over. I still love to watch this from time to time.
Hope all is well
when you get the confirmation it does not need much for real music that touches your soul. all this mainstream will erase the soul of music. let's be thankful for these moments.
Ok, I think I get what happened there (i.e.why the people went away instead of listening to the song). "Le bateau Lavoir", in Montmartre, was the first studio of Picasso when he moved to Paris. There he painted the pink, the blue period and perhaps the first cubist paintings (i'm not sure about the latter).
So the group there, in front of the building, are tourists who paid for a tour of Montmartre. When the band arrive, you can clearly see the guide, the bald guy with the magenta shirt, talking to them (...probably about Picasso and the building). Maybe he was unsure of what was happening, so he called a forward march, to be certain not to be I the way of something. You can see, before they leave, some people taking photographs of the building.
its been years, but i can never get enough of this
2:59 gives me instant goosebumps, holy fuck that guy is good
Every time that pink lady runs it home when they sing run it home, too good, this video got me thru so much in highschool
I’m visiting Paris for the first time and I was randomly walking around today… when I was overcome with a profound sense of Deja vu. I realized I had stumbled upon this exact spot where they performed outside (with all the tourists running away haha). It’s funny how memories work. As the crazy fan I am, finding this little gem was the best part of my day.
When I heard this first in the early 2009, I liked it, of course.
But I never thought it would become such a classic that I will be searching for many years later.
One of the best music videos ever made.
I used to listen this full album on 2017 everyday... One of the all time greats, it is a sensation, a feeling, a relationship you can't get back to, a special time to be alive and exist in time which will forever live on through this beautiful beautiful touching melodies

Emma, as i guess, is a state of mind. Once you're in it, it will never let you go. You'll have to learn to deal with it and get to know the beautiful sides of melancholy so one day, you'll learn to enjoy it and spread your love again in a more empathatic and sensitive way than ever before.
