I’m not trying to get hounded in the comments for not appreciating the new music, because I do. I saw Justin last year do the entire 22 A Million album and it was brilliant. But this...THIS is the Bon Iver I fell in love with. The purest, rawest, most beautiful music I’ve ever heard. This album changed my life and it still moved me every single time.

@walt chambelain AMEN. I saw him play live in LA a month ago. It was my 3rd time seeing him; his music is incredible, but I'm still in love with the For Emma album. Its so powerful, and the memories you make with an album like that can't really be replicated.

not the best ever in terms of quality, that's for sure - but the emotion he puts in his voice, the music surrounding the voice completes it in perfection, for me at least. it's a subjective theme. I made that comment in a time when emotions came through hard and I've always loved Justin/Bon Iver :)

I love the ambience/dissonance in this version, and how it is turned into something so incredibly beautiful! I love how justin uses icarus' fall to symbolze birth. So genius.

They close their eyes because their brains are rerouting processing power from the visual to the auditory cortex. They really are pouring out everything they've got in these take away shows.
I love how dynamic Bon Iver are. Put them in any kind of environment and they'll use whatever they have at their disposal add cool little ambient effects which make every live performance unique.
No one has commented on the intimate cinematography. C'est bon! I saw them perform this live at a small venue, but your photography gives a new meaning to it. Thank you!

Sometimes when I'm feelin' a wee bit lonely, I just count stars that remind me of Iver eyes & then I always realize that I'd be countin' many a year (not enough fingers to help my simple mind keep track). So keep on trekkin', I do, right down into the hollowtree where I can hear "Flume" in peace & dream of my home of shamrock & stone, where waters never cease & the green of the hills outsmart the (now greying) green I once had in a mind fresh with youth; where naught but love is all maroon.
