Bon Iver create the kind of music where you really have to close your eyes and feel it to truly appreciate the grandiloquence in each song. It's the kind of music you can't just love because of the sound, but because of the meaning and feeling behind it that really reaches out to each and every person.

Bon Iver are an perfect example of music I do not wish to share, and want to keep all to myself, to fall in love all over again, everytime I hear his beautiful voice.
I don't know why anyone would not want him to go mainstream. I'd like the whole world to hear this music. For that reason, I hope he's the most "mainstream" artist of all time.

"Only love is all maroon" He's singing about how love is truly the only one shaded emotion (All maroon) such a colour states how love causes happiness and pain. Maroon is just the best outlet for that. This is my own interpretation XD

I bought a Live Current CD at a garage sale when I got my license in high school. This song was what first brought me first Bon Iver, and is associated with fond memories of driving around the cities on warm summer nights with the windows down, Flume blasting on the stereo.
When i listen to this, i feel like this is the way that music is meant to be! It touches my heart and my mind in a way that not many other things can! Such a unique experience! Thank you Bon Iver for making some real music, in a time when its so hard to find!

Honestly there is just something about this song that makes me feel something else, I can't put it into words, maybe it's his voice, maybe the lyrics or purely the combination of both, it just hits. I remember hearing it live in the UK and it made me so emotional to the point I teared up and bless my friends they just threw an arm around my shoulder and gave me a pat on the back and we all enjoyed the song together without a word being said. I love this song beyond words.

For me, I used to worship the show House. The last episode of season 4... they use Re:stacks from this album. It will make anybody cry. I would play the tune on my acoustic and they'd start crying just remembering that scene from House. Too good. Been following Bon Iver ever since. First two albums so far have been top.
+Zuzu Superfly I've been a fan since I was around 11 in 6th grade (I'm in 9th grade now) so not very long, but Bon Iver's music has gotten me through so much. it has that sad mood but for some reason listening gives me a sense of hope. the songs are so sorrowful and beautiful yet for some reason they're uplifting. it's quite strange but so exquisite

In the entire definition of 'selling out', I think he is the absolute farthest you can be from doing so.. you should be happy for such an incredible artist to have reached such well deserved recognition.
Indeed he isn't influenced by his label, he stays true to his music which is the most powerful thing an artist has. Becoming more famous also means that he'll actually gets a pay check for making this incredible art. Believe it or not, artist have to eat too.

I absolutely love this jam. This guy is very talented. Although the song is very mellow and seemingly sad it actually brings my spirit up. Its one of those songs that reminds me of what it means to be a human being. The howling vocals call out to the human soul and has lyrics to match. Soul music!

As soothing as it sounds, it's really easy to do, which is why these artists have to have something else going on. Bon Iver:
- has a lumberjack look
- sings in falsetto
- mumbles words like his mouth is swollen
Not to mention the whole album is slightly out of tune (purposely) and recorded on weird vintage stuff

There is not a single more perfect word for this than beautiful
He can hold a tune in a weird cat wailing way but his guitar work is so depressing and unimaginative. Chords a 6 year old can play, no bridge or hook, no real oomph or despair in the sound or lyrics. Just grubby bearded 40 something with a hat on indoors because he hasn't washed his hair in 3 years.
Everything is agreeable, the chords are fairly simple and this song isn't complicated at all, but no despair? Bon Iver (Justin Vernon), delivers that sense of misery and despair in the greatest way an artist can. I was trying to search for an album like For Emma Forever Ago for... forever, but never found something as unique and as magnificent. If you could suggest me something, or someone who delivers pain and despair better than this man, I'll be in your debt for life.

i wanted to propose to my fiance to this song. we watched this live at the show they played at the filmore in SF, CA in 2009. I wrote to the band and they never wrote back. THANK GOD! we got married but i divorced her a year later, right after we saw the concert for his second full album. his music tells the story of our marriage, i loved the first part of it. the second part, it involved too may people.
I'm actually in tears. Goosebumps. I love you Bon Iver, I don't know what I'd do had if your music never exist.

When setting up for this video shoot, someone had to say: "Hey guys, how about we just leave that big wonky computer monitor from 1998 looming in the background. No one will notice." And at the time, before this video had amassed six-million views, I'm sure this decision felt entirely rational. No doubt I would've left it sitting there as well. Those things are heavy enough to be used as boat anchors. But all joking aside, this is a fantastic video. A truly brilliant performance.
