This video is a classic. There’s so much gold online that you can forget about whole pockets only to rediscover them over a decade later. I bust out my Fleet Foxes every winter here in Texas, I wait all the god damn hot summer for the few weeks of relieving cold. Fleet Foxes is that feeling in audio form, to me.
Seriously. I ask people to this day and they have no clue what I’m talking about. Just musicians in the public expressing themselves. Nothing more beautiful
Tommy Raines same here I used to hate it but now that I’ve lived the city life for years now I yearn to be back in my grandpas backyard listening to the birds chirp
Please do not ever delete this video YT!!! I walked down the isle to the love of my life with this song playing in the first minute....most beautiful moment of my life!
the acapella song at the beginning is so amazing. and they're all just so perfectly in tune and blend so well. it takes a ton of talent to be a good solo singer AND blend well.
Wow. this is a severe case of talent. Very few bands have the artistic ability to understand melody and create emotions and visuals with a song. Not only do they understand rythym and melody but they perform it extremely well.
@@sgrey9181 My apologies, I'm referring to Father john misty, also known as josh Tillman, formerly known as the drummer in this video. Nowadays he has a solo act and it's great, you should check it out
J.J Jameson Great? His four albums after he left Fleet Foxes are better than the last two the Foxes have recorded. The FF albums are good but, Father John Misty has four amazing records. Crazy he was always the guy in the back with the great voice. Until...
I never realized why this song was slowly becoming my favorite off their self titled until revisiting this video and remembering discovering it 2 years ago. My subconscious kicks ass.
In the early days of Crosby Stills and Nash there was a similar buzz. The harmonies were unbelievable, and the material was sorta natural, acoustic and with a conscience. Fleet Foxes are in many ways as good as CS&N in their day. Not at all the same, but since I lived thru that era, I can see similarities. Both incredible musicians, very talented songwriters. A gift to our time.
Decided to take a look at this Take Away show and it reminded why I love the Fleet Foxes so much. I've only gotten to see them live once in 2011. This is real music, raw talent, and I could never get enough. Come back to Austin Fleet Foxes!
Man, when I look at my life, I realize how far away this is. I love this song. Along with Steve Miller Band (not staying that they sound alike) this band brings about nostalgia that no other can describe. In just a few years, this music has impacted me, Along with Mountainman(the three woman band) and Mewithoutyou.
There is no other band who has taught me more about harmony than Fleet Foxes. My parents just moved to North Carolina, they live in the Blue Ridge Mountains. One day I will lay on the ground there and listen to this song. Only then will I be complete.
Me and my late brother used to cruise downtown at night, singing this in acappella to the top of our lungs, not giving a fuck who heard. Blue Ridge Mountains will always have a place in my soul.
I was crying so much when i heard this song, reminded me so much of the times I spent with my gf in the UK, the life I lead with her in spring and in the summer, the times we lie down with each other in the gardens and the ice creams we had, the laughters and tears and the times we played in the first days of the breaking of spring. It was all so beautiful. God I miss her so much.
I love this band so freaking much. And I love this song too. It's one of my favorite songs of theirs. And I love how even live how their harmonies still sound very sync and great together
I love that this took place during the time where they still struggled with the tempo on this song lol. Sun Giant was phenomenal though. 14 years later, still every bit as excellent as it was on day one. God I love FF.
You'll sadly never have the opportunity. I was privileged enough to see them on the terrace at the University of Wisconsin Union and to this day it is one of the greatest live shows I've seen. The harmonies are nothing short of mind blowing live! I'm sorry you found them after they disassembled!
I’ve seen fleet foxes four times: Treasure Island Music Festival, at the Fillmore in SF, the Greek in Berkeley, and the Hollywood Bowl. I’m going to see them in Paris in a few weeks. And I’m hoping I get those same feels I get every time I rewatch this video. I love this band.
lol, i could be wrong...but I love how Josh Tillman, Father John Misty, looks sooo bored when he joins in. I love his contribution to Fleet Foxes...I love Father John Misty even more!!! Cheers!!
Just saw them at Spreckels Theatre in San Diego...amazing live show. Their vocals are haunting, and just as great live as recorded. After listening for a couple of hours I still had to come home and listen some more. Inspiring!
Reminds me of singing shaped notes music with a blacksmith, a quilter and a candlestick maker back about 30 years ago at a folk arts festival in Alabama (Horse Pens 40). Great stuff.
Robin and his guys have probably the best harmonies I have ever heard. They look like they are playing in some sort of prison. Regardless this video is amazing it shows that they don't need a recording studio to make them sound good. They sound exactly the same live. Itunes plays...2000 per song and counting....!
Fleet Foxes are one of those bands who just go un-noticed and do their own thing, and just blossom into something beautiful. And when they finally do explode with stardom, they're just the same.
I think not. Lots of fan like both. Though, I used to not listen to FJM as a FF fanboy. But, that's not that big of a population. People can appreciate the great music Josh is making.
When I listen to Fleet Foxes the back of my neck tingles, not in a tangible way though, as if just listening to it made me feel something that wasn't real. When I listen to Fleet Foxes, the unreal seems real, the impossible becomes plausible, and the things confined to what we see and hear and experience when we are dreaming become reality. When I listen to Fleet Foxes, I believe that there might be a god. And anyone who knows me can testify that I am a very adamant atheist. Keep it coming guys
The best thing I ever did in my life was go to college and room with someone that showed my this beautiful band. This song is amazing recorded and even better as a take away show. FFF (fleet foxes forever ♥️)
This band has just continuously gotten better I have been listening for 2 years. I am so happy to say that they are still my favorite band! Seriously Religiously GOOD!
I remembered watching this 14 years ago, whole lot circumstances different from what now, then I see this, father John misty still on fleet Foxes, robin still have a long hair, I still looking at a new music to looks up to, time does fly.
What a life I lead in the summer What a life I lead in the spring What a life I lead when the wind, it breathes What a life I lead in the spring What a life I lead when the sun breaks free As a giant torn from the clouds What a life indeed when that ancient seed Is a-buried, watered and plowed What a life What a life What a life What a life What a life I lead in the summer What a life I lead in the spring What a life I lead when the wind, it breathes What a life I lead in the spring
The videography in these take away shows always gets me xD But holy fuck this is some spot on music, absolutely gorgeous, especially with that reverb, which I suspect is natural. So awesome, I wish I could be in a group like this.

Went on a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains a few weeks ago with my friends. We listened to Fleet Foxes during the whole drive through the mountains.
Quite funny realizing FJM has his vocal chops because he spent time with the world's greatest barbershop quartet
Who is FJM?
