Would wine buttercream work. I saw on Giada Entertains instead of using water to make an icing glaze for her cake she used red wine. So just thought if it works in icing maybe it would in buttercream. Have you made caramel buttercream. Use the thick tart caramel to add to it.

70's JJR for the jellied salads well in my part of the world it was 70's, Also used to see a lot of so called fruit flummeries. That was made with jelly/jello, evaporated milk and canned fruit.
When we had family get together's I had one Aunt that always brought deviled eggs and either jellied peas, carrots or pineapple. She would make up lime jelly/jello in a pirex dish add a can of drained peas and set in the fridge or grate carrots and add orange jelly/jello or canned chunks of pineapple and add pineapple flavoured jelly/jello. Then set it in the fridge. If you hadn't seen her when you arrived at the get together you walked up to the sharing food table. If there were deviled eggs and jellied veggies we would say Aunty Hazel is here.

@@bucketobviously5499 The ones I had as a kid you get jelly/jello flavour you want
Chill evaporated milk in the refrigerator for an hour. In the meantime, place jelly/jello crystals in a bowl with 200ml boiling water. Stir until the crystals have dissolved. Place in the fridge for an hour, until slightly set Beat chilled evaporated milk and jelly/jello in a bowl until completely mixed. My Mum would drain a can of mixed fruit like peaches and pears or fruit salad then mux bu hand through the flummery. Pour into a large jelly/jello mold and place in the fridge for 2 hours or longer if beeded. My Mum would whip double cream with a little castor sugar and vanilla till thick and also have vanilla ice cream. She would slice it to serve. It was everyones choice if they had it as is or with cream or ice cream or both.

Then you make the topping, mayonnaise, sugar, milk mixed together to make a sweet, creamy, thick (but still pourable) sauce. You pour it all over the fruit mixture and refrigerate. It’s DELICIOUS!!

Hey guys, I'm 75 & I've actually like lime jello, we ate it like you made it but without the seafood salad. That almost made me barf just watching you two. LOL We also made it with shredded carrots & served it with A dollop of mayo with A bit of sugar mixed in. The tried & true coctail fruit ;{ went with any color of jello & bananas were my favorite in red jello. Many of these recipes came from our Moms who put anything they had together to try & feed A family during the depression. Nothing went to waste & if you didn't eat it, you went to bed hungry. So they passed them on to their kids who thought it was normal to eat it & just got used to it! Absolutely love all of you, you are so cool together & the show is wonderful, keep up the good work.

Except in some evil buffets, where they get their green jello from strange places, and instead of a mellow, woodruffy experience, you get lime or pineapple RIGHT IN THE MOUTH.

The brotherly love on this show is amazing. Only a true brother like Brandon would eat 50's green goo. Also thanks for the nostalgia.

    Show me that smile again
    Oh, show me that smile
Don't waste another minute on your cryin'
    We're nowhere near the end
    We're nowhere near
The best is ready to begin
    All in a cloudy daze
I look into your eyes and see them shining out
    Holding you close this way
    Holding you this way
    Is like having summer everyday
    Ooh, ooh
As long as we got each other
We got the world spinnin' right in our hands
    Baby, you and me
    We gotta be
The luckiest dreamers who never quit dreamin'
As long as we keep on givin'
We can take anything that comes our way
    Baby, rain or shine
    All the time
    We got each other
    Sharin' the laughter and love
    Promise me here and now
    Nothing but jokes
    Will never come between us
    You can depend on me
'Cause I need you like the air I breathe
    Oh, oh
As long as we got each other
We got the world spinnin' right in our hands
    Baby, you and me
    We gotta be
The luckiest dreamers who never quit dreamin'
As long as we keep on givin'
We can take anything that comes our way
    Baby, rain or shine
    All the time
    We got each other
    Sharin' the laughter and love
As long as we got each other
We got the world spinnin' right in our hands
    Baby, you and me
    We gotta be
The luckiest dreamers who never quit dreamin'
As long as we keep on givin'
We can take anything that comes our way
    Baby, rain or shine
    All the time
    We got each other
    Sharin' the laughter and love

All of these retro recipes were probably originally made with CELERY flavored jello. It was a light green color so people now assume it was lime (or sometimes lemon).
I remember pogs but I've never had Koolaid. Oh Yeah.

As a kid in the 60s, I was always hopefully that the white chunks in the Jello were marshmallows and that the creamy looking Jello was made with whipped cream. The shredded carrots suspended in the clear jello part should have been a red flag. Sorely disappointed EVERY time. SOOOO, when I made it, I mixed in marshmallows and cool whip, heavy on both. Left out all that veggie trash. Now that was a "salad"!

In Russia we have “meet jelly”. It is like a broth with meet and natural gelatin from bones which we leave in the fridge for a couple of ours. Grandmas lov it. I can’t even be near it

I was born in 1973 and as a kid I loved jello!! I remember eating jello with stuff in it that my grandmother 👵🏻 made but I can’t remember exactly what she put in it. I remember having to force it down so I wouldn’t hurt her feelings though.

My grandmother made lime jello with Velveeta cheese and Miracle Whip for all the holidays. And it had to be Velveeta and Miracle Whip…any other cheese was wrong and mayonnaise was wrong. I was told it was a Midwestern thing.

I know it shouldn't be, but the retro recipes are starting to be my favorite part of the show. I think you guys should do a separate show where you make an appetizer, main course, and a dessert - all form the 50s, 60, or 70s. Start investing in all kinds of molds.

I was born in the mid 90’s and grew up on Koolaid. In my opinion, my mom always watered it down way too much to make it go further in a family of 8 kids. 😜 Lol I kinda wanna go get some right now since I probably haven’t had it for nearly 15 years.
