- I am going to show you how to decorate this fun 80's themed cake! This skate looks so good the little holes where the laces go are called eyelets 😉. I don't want to sound like to critical or insult you or let you have anything bad happen to you either, so I noticed that you have on nail polish, I have always been under the impression it's illegal to handle food or food products while wearing it, unless you have on gloves. My son in law is a chef and a Culinary Arts teacher and very by the book on food safety regulations, I didn't ask him but just honestly want to help you save face sincerely. Your nails do look nice and clean, and the cake is amazing too.

The swirlies are your signature piece, I love it. So instead of using a steamer you use shortening? And fruit flies are awful and hard to get 🤣
Yeah I don't have a steamer and find this method is easy and effective! And damn that fruit fly, he's still around here somewhere!😂
Your cakes are always very pretty! I would like to ask if I can make the buttercream in advance , how to keep it and can I mix it again to make it soft? I don’t know to much how to manage American buttercream and what model is your printer? They have different prices, which one do you recommend?
I have a Canon TS702. I'm not sure if they still make that model though. And you can make the icing and store it in an airtight container . Thaw on the countertop and then put in a mixing bowl and rewhip it before you use it again.

Hi Karolyn how long do you put ur cake in the fridge to make it soiled to get you to work with it without messing it up? 🥰
I would say around 3 hours so the butter has enough time to solidify.
Hey karolyn, how much fondant using your recipe that I would need for a 3 layer 8inch cake 5 in tall beautiful cake I love it!
For that size, I would make 1 batch and then use 3/4 of it. 😊

Between 5-20 seconds depending on how much I put in there. I only microwave marshmallow fondant, I believe other fondants don't require it to get it soft.

Can I use whipped icing under the fondant or is buttercream better?
I’ve never worked with whipped icing so I’m not 100% sure, but I don’t think it’s sturdy enough to use under fondant.
I put melted chocolate in the back of fondant pieces. But make sure the pieces are not too thick
@karolynKakes what sized cakes did you use for this cake and did you torte them?
Hey! Top tier is 2 layer 4" (not torted), bottom tier is 2 layer 6" (torted)

If u had to choose between a air brush and an edible image printer which one would u chose? I only have enough money for one right now 😅
I would say an edible printer. You can use petal dusts to add detail until you get an airbrush.

I hope I’m not being annoying by asking so many questions, but I read that a canon printer can be used as an edible printer, if I buy a BRAND NEW one could I used the ink and paper from the website u sent me? Cause they have a sale at Walmart right now for the canons for like $39!
