- I have always been a huge fan of reverse engineering and 3D Printing, but we are finally getting to the point where the technology can print a show car or truck, a full subframe directly out of cad designed by AI for an engine swap.

Honestly like hearing your take on SEMA the most. You actually take the time to reflect on innovations happening in the industry and not just popular content creators. 🤘
The 3D printed metal components are amazing. Imagine being able to dial up a custom 3D printed front subframe for custom conversions, or adding AWD more easily (compared to all the fabrication work Dave had to do on the AWD Hellcat/Trackhawk combo).
There is a few my awd civic has 3d printed ball joints, upper lower control arms and a intake manifold
10:20 B is for Build 1967/2019 Mustang in the background
Thanks for taking us to SEMA Dave!
Thanks for watching
A printed 3d truck! Hell yeah!!
11:30 Rockwell 2.5 ton axel, they were the hot shit in off road axels for years.
I mean the look really beefy
There's "B is for Build" mustang in the background!
Yes it is
My favorite color combo is a bright blue exterior with a saddle brown interior. This is my plan for my Corvette build.
It looks so good
New Mexico Love!!!!! Great content!!!!!
the video / sound quality is good but i think the camera has no stabilization, its very twitchy, i think it would be really good on a gimbal though
The Holley fuel sensor is lidar and it's been around for a few years. It's just now finally gaining attention because a big company is using it.
I think its just that they package it as a wide range application
You are right ! It's time to stop building Mopar and start a COE ramp truck to transport your awesome JDM cars 👍
Much love and support from Boston ❤ 🙏🏻
Excellent commentary
I watched it 2x
100% agree that electric motors don’t need transmission
thanks
Great video. Very informative.
thanks
A really cool video, it's like cool to see to many cool cars and like cool accessories. The cool 3d printed truck was cool to see too. It seems you like had a really cool time there. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah I always have a lot of fun at SEMA, the most fun though is hanging out with friends and other RUclipsrs afterwards
Hell yeah!!! Never been to SEMA
It is definitely and experience I would go once
SEMA sure looks interesting, but living in Australia, it's something I will never see in person. Thanks for the tour.
Well that's one thing you're absolutely not guilty of...... rushing a car 😂
I mean if I brought it like every other RUclipsr 50% complete you would still be complaining
this video was fire... a lot of the videos i watch was "hey look at this car" and no one was looking at booths and stuff and the smaller detailed items like the AI subframe thing
Thanks I should have done more but its crazy how quick time goes when youre there, also this year it was really unorganized since Dodge, Ford, and Chevy canceled and they just crammed booths everywhere to fill the floor space.
Just found your channel and really enjoyed hearing all your thoughts on these cars. Also, that camera seems great imo.
Thanks
Like how you showed and explained it what it does most who do Sema vids don't. Really enjoyed the content never disappointed have a good weekend and stay safe Jimmy from North Attleboro Massachusetts
Thanks I wish I stayed longer and could have showed more
@@Junkyard_Dave Always enjoy the content hopefully you get your build there definitely should be. Love the Magnum and what you are doing to it amazing build my wife and I look here in Massachusetts for one but always rusted out and overpriced. Good luck with everything have a good day and stay safe Jimmy from North Attleboro Massachusetts
HEY! Good morning Dave and thumbs UP!!
thanks
The sound is pretty good 👍
thanks
I want to go to Sema
Go at least once it is worth it
prety sure those truck axles are Rockwell 2 & 1/2 ton toploader military axles from a "deuce and a half"
They looked beefy
I imagine 3D printed metal will make on-the-fly parts production easier with no more logistics nightmare.
Would even work for vintage parts provided they're in a CAD-like file that the printer can base on.
If you had a good 3d scanner and if companies would come up with good software to turn that scan into a usable model, any part you would ever need could be made.
If my future kid said dad I want an EV 😤 👋 it’s cool and all like the go kart how easy that is to build I’d do something like that but not on a race car or my daily no thank you. I will say how impressed Iam with those subframes absolutely insane thank you for showing us keep up the great vids👍🏼
I do think the one good thing that has come from EV companies is innovation the big 3 were in a stagnant boomer run industry, now they are trying to compete again and I think this will push additive manufacturing to a point whole body panels are being made.
Have you seen the Legacy Electric Z car by Street Bandito/Industry Garage/Tim Hicks? I'm not big on thhe EV stuff, but he 3d printed body panels to make molds to make carbon versions and they came out pretty sweet!
I saw it, it looked cool
Don't think old exotics are going to go back to ICE, often times its the conversion that's what gets it back on the road rather than scrapheap. The comfort of modern cars is why restomods are so popular.
Comfort bleh, evs still suck.
When the people cant sell them or maintain them, if these companies don't last what's going to happen, most of these ev companies have been built on government subsidies when that ends its probably going to end up like wind turbines that market is finished in the next year or two
Divergent is the parent company of Czinger. I mentioned their cars on one of your live chats last year and it slipped through the cracks. Their design and manufacturing process is going to turn a bunch of industries upside down. They mentioned several OEMs are licensing their tech now
Yeah its cool they are starting to realize how useful the tech is, I tried to get cummins to get a 3d printer and it was like pulling teeth, they finally got a scanner and all the old timers in metrology said this is so much faster than manually plotting points lol
@12:00 Ford did that, iced up the rear brake in the winter
Did you get to see Street Bandito’s/Industry Garage’s full carbon 280Z EV? I’m curious what you thought about the quality of their carbon work. I’m not even sure if they made it there or not but they were supposed to have it there.
Im pretty sure I saw it didn't really look at it super close, I should have brought the Charger to sema it was the year of unfinished builds
The 3d printed metal parts are insane, not excited for those ev downgrade conversions tho.
Some stuff it makes sense to convert but don't take a 427 corvette and do an ev conversion
someone saw the Jack Builts it Evo 8? I can't find this car on RUclips sema videos. No one filmed it?
I should have filmed it when i went over and they did the unveiling and there was a bunch of people there
@@Junkyard_Dave oh, ok, he made it. Good. Very unfortunate that you’re not at sema with your magnum. I hope that you can bring it next year.
B is for Build?!
Yeah that was his mustang
How much is 3d printing to make body kit
You have to design one in cad first
@@Junkyard_Dave how to design in cad. What is the cost
How strong is that wheel center ? Looks week. I’m sure I’m wrong
its probably stronger than a forged center, myth busters printed titanium armor and shot it and the bullets were decintegrating and not even denting it
Camera picture stability when you were outside wasn't as good, but sound quality was far better
Thanks
There are or will be superchargers at every major track in CA.
How are you going to supercharge a swap it's not b3cause it won't let you connect
The porsche is full carbon replacement.
Yeah it is always hard to tell a lot of people just overlay and say its carbon which it sort of is but to me full replacement like that guys 22b STI is way cooler
How did you get access to be in there by yourself?
Media pass and probably went early before everyone woke up
Media pass they are hard to get if you don't meet the requirements
I’m not sure how to feel about that brake snap ring lol
Yeah I saw it and thought I already hate snap rings what happens when this thing sees 1200-1500deg lol
👍👍👍😎😎😎
Volvo Guy
Dave the audio is so so in my opinion. Still some dead spots. Why not just get a lapel mic? Would be much better quality and cut out some of the background noise.
That white Ferrari belongs to Richard Rawlings gas monkey Garage the thing was a piece of garbage cuz it was used in a movie where they just tore the crap out of it he bought five of them overseas and bring them home and had a great idea just to take one and play with it and that's what he did it looks totally Bitchin.
It looks like it would be fun under 60mph anything after that you would need a helmet to keep the wind down
EV motor with a six speed transmission means less energy consumption same as a ice engine
All ex's have a gear box shifting them manually doesn't make sense
Yeah I am SOOOO burnt out on the whole EV thing. That and his P1. really burnt out on that, he's milked that thing to death. That said though I would not mind having a EV. When they come down to 20-30K.
Yeah I could have bagged on a bunch of builds but didn't show any of the bad stuff I saw, I really do agree with a lot of people saying SEMA should inspect the cars on the way in and if they aren't finished or poorly done turn them away. The first few years would be a low number of builds but after that I think it would really help the show because right now walking around half the stuff looks like its marketplace unfinished projects.
I don't see the point of the mega-lifted trucks that still have their diffs at about 15 to 18 inches off the ground. All that other clearance up to the body is for WHAT?
You are always going to have the diff in line with the wheels its the best for off roading and abuse, most of the trucks there would never see off road but at least that one looked like it could handle it
EV's are definitely not the way to go, yet.
That's why Toyota, one of the biggest car manufacturers in the world is making their vehicles as hybrids, which imo is the best solution right now.
Like I said to Elon Musk in a conversation....Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Hydrogen are forever. Batteries are temporary. Then I told Elon...Your so smart, your stupid to keep producing battery-operated cars. Thanks for your video, Dave. I couldn't go to S.E.M.A..
The thing about batteries though is they already work for about 90% of the people out there even with the current range that they have. Most people aren't car guys like we are. They are just using their cars to commute everyday
@Shiftheads Well, if things get any worse, I'm just going to have to use my feet to get around because the cars of old are too expensive with gas prices. The electric cars are too expensive and batteries are very expensive to replace.
🤥🤥
@richardcampbell8685 I have Elon Musk on my Skype friends list. Sometimes, he texts me. So stop thinking I lied when that is exactly what I told Elon.
build a truck
I plan on it
I luv your content. New Zealand
The White EV Ferrari testarossa from Gas Monkey is just ugly… They turned a beautiful design into a pile of crap
I think since its just a testarossa its fine they were never to me that cool of a Ferrari, it looked clean and unique which is really what SEMA is about
the audio of the camera is good but the image stabilization is garbage. id pass on this camera.
EV is not even close to being something America can do. And it's way worse than regular combustion engines
I really think its just job security at this point the epa knows that they need something they can make up new bs laws for in the next 10 years. People think that just because they are buying evs makes them safe from emissions. Most particulate in the atmosphere is from brake dust not your exhaust, its not like they are regulating plains since they still let jets use leded fuel its all a scam
EVs no... diesel electric like a train is more efficient and can hit and exceed all of the needs of most people and drive down air pollution. This till battery tech and energy generation can catch up.
I agree but unless they can figure out how to cool smaller more powerful packs the tech is never going to catch up.
Huge L on your take on all the EV stuff - "Back in my day"
Actually Im an engineer I look at it from a numbers standpoint the range is never going to be developed, I like hopping in a diesel truck and having 800 miles until I have to fill up on 40 gallons
because trucks suck
If you have enough cars you will realize trucks are awesome
