JUST THINK IN CONTEXT. Its 1998, before this all youve played where Doom, duke nukem 3d, blood, quake. Just level by level fighting enemies and collecting keys. Then this game drops and it does story telling on a whole new level never seen before on games

Yes, it was absolutely stunning. I remember it well. People could not believe their own eyes. HL2 was game changing, so was Alyx. But this one was really special. Just sn absolute pleasure to immerse oneself in. I haven't had a similar experience since.
"in the test chamberrrr" is a bit of a meme among half-life fans. The voice acting in original HL was still a bit of an experiment, so the quality varied, and that weird delivery of the line was so funny and iconic that they have decided to carry it across
This game improves on every aspect over the original, definely a worthy remake and an amazing gaming experience.

Personally, I loved every moment of the entire Xen as a whole and wanted more, and I bet there are a lot of people who share my opinion as well.

So exciting to see you play this. Half-Life was ground breaking and this version is based on the Half-Life 2 engine, which was , in turn groundbreaking. The games are so immersive and intense and really scare the shit out of you. prepare for lots of crawling through ducting and figuring out puzzles! Excellent!

Been playing Half-Life since it came out (despite being about the same age as you, my parents would have been so mad if they'd known...). As a long time fan in my opinion Black Mesa is THE way to get into Half-Life these days, good example is those 2 scientists that told you to get help, they become very important characters later in Half-Life's storyline (without spoiling anything all I'll say is one of them is the father of the protagonist of the most recent entry to the series and the other is crucial to setting up the events of Half-Life 2), yet in the original game these 2 characters were just generic NPCs. Everything is just more detailed and it has more of that cinematic atmosphere the rest of the series has along with one of the best game OSTs in years. Black Mesa does more than just update the graphics, it more or less brings back the sense of awe and cinematic storytelling from 1998 up to 2021 standards and I could see from your reactions, you're getting the real, authentic, unadulterated, scary as hell Half-Life experience, and you're just getting started. "Sorry, did I scream really loud just then" was pretty much everyone's reaction to getting grabbed by a barnacle for the first time...
I just wanna say you're genuinely enjoyable to watch :) Awesomely chill. Im happy to have somebody to watch who is just themselves. I thought I was subbed to you for ages, but it seems I havent been, so now I am, because of course, you deserve it.

You missed several G-man sightings but as a new to this game you dont know the cultural reference which was quite popular back in those years.
Hi Dandifying ..... you must be the only one of a few people who have never played any of the Half Life games, but your doing a great job. Picking Black Mesa is a good choice as it has everything Half Life did and just improved it, plus it has a far better ending. looking forward to this series very much.
Unfortunately, I have a feeling that a lot more people than you guess haven’t played a Half-Life game😔. I doubt that many young gamers(young enough to be born years after the release of Half-Life 2) have played any of the games.
It was quite difficult my first attempt. I was a child and couldn't understand English a bit. And that combined with the fact that the interiors had way less details caused me to wander a lot longer in the first section (up to acquiring the HEV suit) than I would like to admit ;)
I actually gave up at that point and got back to the games I was able to play (anno1602, Rollercoaster Tycoon and many others that I could install from the "crazy bytes" software CD's)

You should play Portal 1 and 2 as well. Different genre but same universe. And great games too.
Anyway this remake is a must have. It keeps what the original got but do it better, especially graphics.
I've played Portal 1 and 2. They're both phenomenal games! It's been quite a few years though so maybe we can revisit them some time.

14:09 Remake is very similar in terms of level design and gameplay with balance and quality of life tweaks here and there. Some levels was expanded, extra details and locations was added all over the place. Only later levels was fundamentally remade because it clearly wasn't finished and polished properly in original Half-Life.

The best way to play half life in order is black Mesa (half life remake or not half life remake) half life Alyx and then half life 2
This is bad advice, don't listen to it. Alyx must be played last, otherwise you spoil HL2 and you have no idea who Alyx or her father even is, why the world is the way it is or why you should even care. Apart from being an awesome VR shooter, it is meaningless without the context of the previous games.
How did you get yours so bright?
well if you were told to take your time then why did you rush through absolutely everything in the beginning? didn't listen to conversations, didn't interact with npcs or objects, didn't look into any rooms or observe things, etc. sheesh.
