Nice job MCG Recently acquired a Hypermotard, ran a set of Diablo Supercorsa now running a set of Dunlop Q3. Both are amazing tires on this bike but I'm tearing them up in under 2000 miles. I only ride tight and semi tight twisty canyons on the Central Coast of CA. I'd love to find a tire that sticks like these but would give me closer to 3000+ miles.
People give me a hard time in the ZX6R forums because I run Sport Touring tires, but this video confirms why I run them, thanks. Currently I'm running the Michelin Road 6

I saw this video years back… I am now on the track occasionally and it is applicable! I remembered this from years back and it is exactly the guidance i needed!
Some awesome information here and explained. I have absolutely no regrets after changing from Pilot Power 3 to Angle GT's on my R1. I generally have a minimum of 100+ kilometers of highway riding before I get to any twisty roads and the GT's are wearing great. I would have worn out a set of PP3's by now and the GT's hardly look like they have any wear. And I'm no racer, I can admit it so the sport touring tires have more than enough grip for me in the corners.
These videos you guys put out are awesome and us enthusiasts really appreciate all the work that goes into making them. Just wanted to say, thank you. The dislikes are likely from "other" channels or magazines who are jealous of the quality & knowledge Ari is constantly dropping. Props!
Just bought some Dunlop roadsmart for my r6 because I commute a lot but hit the canyons once in awhile and I don’t really drag knees just casual ride with my friends. Ride safe!
I'm on the second set of these on my CB500F, I get a lot of miles out of them and have ridden in sub-freezing temps, light snow, torrential rain, and when ambient temps were well over 100 degrees. When I wear this pair out, I'll probably buy them again. The only other tire I have much interest in would be a Metzeler Roadtec 01.
@@techten1012 I'm have about 14k miles on the second set now and they are almost there. I have zero complaints about them, they've worn evenly and put up with awful torn-up roads under construction day in and day out.

Depends on the bike. I’m on a touring cruiser that can only reach about 25° of lean. The only way I lose traction is something on the road or extreme cold. And when I say extreme cold, I ride well below freezing every winter in Canada. Also, a lot of premium cruiser tires are now dual compound. There’s really no such thing as Jack of all trades. Got figure out your needs and go accordingly.

@@batcavemd don’t get me wrong, at speed I tame it down. But I’ve only dropped my bike once on ice, and that’s because I caught a rut at the work parking lot. As long as the roads are clear of ice, I’ll ride. But you still need to be smart about it. And you’ve really got to be in tune with your bike to know when it’s breaking loose before it gets wild. Mine has broken loose on frosty roads, and it will scare the shit out of you. Ride to the limit you think the roads allow, conservatively, and learn what your bike and tires can do with extreme caution.
I'm the second owner of an '04 RC51 that needs new tires to replace it's Pirelli Corsa 3's that are God-knows how old and worn out. I happened to come across this channel while starting my search of tires for it and am definitely glad I watched this! It's mostly used for work commuting 90% and maybe back roads the other 10%. The centers of the tires flattened out from the commuting, so definitely looks like I'll be shopping in the ST tire category. Thanks for the vid!
Fwiw I'm coming off multiple sets of Angel GT's but they've priced me out now asking too much imho for their tires. Angels were a good compromise tire with good performance when rears were in the $150 range. Now they're chasing Michelin price wise yet they don't provide the mileage of Michelins PR4 etc.... I wouldn't have a problem continuing to ride Angels forever but Pirelli got greedy so Bridgestone rebate offers lured me in. The BT023 rear I just put on is paired with Angel GT front and I'm not finding any shortcomings compared directly to the previous A GT rear tire. They've probably lost me forever which was stupid. I usually find something that works well and stick with it. But enough enough with their pricing. I could have bought a Metz Roadtec 01 rear for $10 less and those are taking all the sport touring tire reviews.

Commute daily on my Honda cbr1000rr on Bridgestone T30s ST tires, absolutely love them, even during this last week of crazy rain in LA, they have been nothing but great, and they handle awesome in the mountains.
you guys always put out great content. informative video on the tires. I'd suggest maybe covering different suspension setups, eg. the difference between a linkage rear swingarm and a direct shock linkage and dual shock vs. monoshock.
I ride a 2014 Honda CTX 1300 and have Bridgestone Exedra-Max tires on it and they perform well in the twisties and the wet, and I get a little over 10,000 miles on a set. The CTX is not a sport bike but a mix between cruiser and sport tour. My 1994 Magna really works well with Mitchelin Commander II Tire’s. They stick well in the corners, great on wet pavement and give great wear. Your tire advice is spot on. Both these bikes have been on the Dragon, Cherohala trail, and Devils Triangle and the tires have performed well for me.
Have now watched this and the aftermarket pipe video (as I'm getting a Yoshi R77 system next week and new tyres in a few thousand kms, and BOTH videos have been a fantastic bundle of information. Great stuff, look forward to watching more of these!
I always put sport touring tires on my bike because i dont ride on the race track. In good conditions and a proper warm up on the street there is no way to take a good stt to its limits. Next tire i am looking for is the new conti road attack 3 :) I love the traction skin on this contis.
I’m an “old guy on a BMW”. I ride Michelin Pilot Road 4GT rubber on my R1200RT. Excellent tire for my riding. I generally ride north Georgia mountain roads and the great twisties in the Smoky Mountains. I’ve been caught in unexpected downpours and these tires handled those conditions.
Bridgestone S21 is a hypersport also, slightly less grip than the RS10 but with much better mileage with 3 tread compounds. I have them on my Buell XB12S and they are awesome! Had them on the track at Loudon and they stuck really well. Also do pretty well in the rain... Great video, thanks Ari
S21s are strangely heavy. Significantly heavier than Q3 or Q3+ and much heavier than Supercorsa SPV2. I was kinda bummed when I found that out but oh well.
Few ideas about future videos which I'd love to watch: 1. How to make your bike touring worthy. 2. Using different tires for front & rear wheel. 3. Improving illumination for night riding. 4. Weight reduction on a bike.
Very well done I was all ears . I have been researching ties for my 2003 Kawasaki ZX6R. And I gotta tell ya I’m blue in the face searching and doing researching just because diversity is so wide to each rider . Being patient taking my time it well pay off
great info Ari.....I ride an old zx11...but its modded for drag racing....I cruise around on it, and mostly put sport touring tires on it....until a drag strip go....but thats only a few times a year
It's probably overkill in the opposite direction for me, but even though I live in Boston (very little gravel even for 40 miles in every direction, nothing like Colorado) I keep TKC80 (front) and K60 (rear) on my R1200GS. I realistically only get around 3,000 miles/year given I'm not daily commuting but love the ability to do much more aggressive off road riding if/when I encounter it, which is a half dozen times per year. I had Trail Attack 2's on it, but they were so weak off road and kept slipping out. Having beefier tires (and suspension) is actually really useful in the city, where worn out roads are far too common in the spring post-snow plowing. Of course, this is an adventure touring bike and not a "street bike". Great videos!

The RS10 is a great tyre, but 1100 miles and 1 intermediate track day and the rear was done. I find that the Supercorsa SP gives slightly better milage and is is cheaper for the same performance. great informative video MC G

RS10 also comes stock on the 2016 ZX10R. My friends laughed at me when I bought replacement S21 for my ZX10R. A week later they all wanted some for the street.
Always real knowledge from you! Obviously I would prefer Sport Touring also! Another topics would be brake pads type? or how much lean angle do we have to do when cornering? like should we knee down all the time for fast cornering?
Angel GT is my top choice i do long distance ride occasionally rain or shine and some low cornering daily to and back from work. Braking on wet surface on this tyre is like braking in the dry.
I got Bridgestone T30 EVO as replacements for my 2018 CBR1000RR factory tires that are wore out after 6400 miles :) They look nice and feel even better on the road
you should do a build series with the fz-07, i'd be curious to see what direction you take it either leaning towards sport or more towards touring. i have mine set up for adv/touring and some fz tips would be cool although "tips" is very general. either way keep up the great videos!
Ive used BT016 hypersport tyres for many years and they give amazing grip in dry and wet conditions. and the mileage is just as impressive 8.000 plus miles. Lasted me almost two years and im out most days on my bike. Bridgestone are one of the best. If not the best. both my 1998 honda 600f and 05 Fireblade feel great they give the rider amazing handling and braking. A HIGHLY RATED BRAND. 💯💣👍
i run st in back and a hypersport in the front.. sometimes i wish for a wee bit more grip in the back but thats the combo i ride,will never chamge except if ill go to the track
Great video bro.... I'm on RS10 and for me and my style is one of the best for now... I have aggressive style pushing hard corners knee down and all those stuffs and I can tell u for sure that tire is one BAD ASS... Especially if u like aggressive style to play in corners or hard breaking even though the corners on the out u can hit ur gass....grip is awesome and handling too.... For me one of the best for aggressive street style ❤️👍

great vid again Ari. I must say for a low powered bike like my sv650 there's no reason to go beyond the sport touring tire. I have t30 EVOS and I have cracked the throttle wide open at full lean and never had any grip issue. also very good in the wet. maybe a more racy front might give you a bit more grip in trail braking but not something I would like to try on the road

Looking at different types of brake pads might be a good video Ari. I've seen guys wash out after upgrading their pads a few times.

I'm using BT023 right now on RSVR and very happy with cornering grip but the centers harder for longevity. Probably work great for you.

Awesome video. One thing that I've always wondered about are heat cycles. Always hear people talking about them, but never got an explanation.
Nice breakdown of the categories. I ride a Speed Triple. Not overly aggressive. No track days so a sports touring tire will work best 4 me.

I got Bridgestone T30 EVO as replacements for my 2018 CBR1000RR factory tires that are wore out after 6400 miles :)
They look nice and feel even better on the road

Had the Bridgestone t31. Great tires. Now Angel GT. Also great. They handle curves very very nice. And they last more than 12 000km.
you should do a build series with the fz-07, i'd be curious to see what direction you take it either leaning towards sport or more towards touring. i have mine set up for adv/touring and some fz tips would be cool although "tips" is very general. either way keep up the great videos!

Great video I always loved the michelin pilot roads great grip and longevity I don't think there is a better tire for the street than them.
Ive used BT016 hypersport tyres for many years and they give amazing grip in dry and wet conditions. and the mileage is just as impressive 8.000 plus miles. Lasted me almost two years and im out most days on my bike. Bridgestone are one of the best. If not the best. both my 1998 honda 600f and 05 Fireblade feel great they give the rider amazing handling and braking. A HIGHLY RATED BRAND. 💯💣👍

i run st in back and a hypersport in the front.. sometimes i wish for a wee bit more grip in the back but thats the combo i ride,will never chamge except if ill go to the track

I'm on RS10 and for me and my style is one of the best for now... I have aggressive style pushing hard corners knee down and all those stuffs and I can tell u for sure that tire is one BAD ASS... Especially if u like aggressive style to play in corners or hard breaking even though the corners on the out u can hit ur gass....grip is awesome and handling too.... For me one of the best for aggressive street style ❤️👍

My favorite road tyre . Cheep and more than enough grip. They get over looked because they aren't the latest/newest thing but they are great tyres.

great vid again Ari. I must say for a low powered bike like my sv650 there's no reason to go beyond the sport touring tire. I have t30 EVOS and I have cracked the throttle wide open at full lean and never had any grip issue. also very good in the wet. maybe a more racy front might give you a bit more grip in trail braking but not something I would like to try on the road
