This knot system uses a stopper knot and bowline. It can be used for several applications to include construction, firefighting, pipe fitting, and camping.

    Superb instructional videos.
Every single child, boy or girl, should be taught fundamental knots. How does one go through life _without_ knowing about knots which are so useful in everyday life?
Edit: have you presented any knot that is not in ABOK?

I use this and modified forms of it fairly often, great knot. I'd love to have a better concept of how much tension it'll put up with, and specifically if there's any amount of tension that will pull the button through the loop. I think any time you can get it so the button & loop are laying on a surface, and are pulling into the surface, that surface makes the button completely secure within the strength of the cord because all the forces are opposed. In the example of the paint bucket handle I'm less confident that I understand how it'll work out, but I don't think a 1 gallon can of paint is anywhere near the force needed. A 5 gallon bucket of paint will usually have a more substantial handle where the 'pulling against a surface' situation comes into play. With the anvil, the clasp is floating in air and the other loops are pulling the clasp apart, this is the case where I think there could be some load limit where the button can pull through, but I'm not sure and I can't solve it in my head.

Excellent video & use of the button knot!
Thinking about ideas.....A knot [somewhat difficult to untie 😂😂] that would be good for securing Christmas presents would be really handy right now-

I saw a roofer use a version of this with a two loop bowline to secure a tarp to a roof for easier one handed removal later. He put the first loop through the tarp grommet from underneath and stuck the second loop into the first loop from above and used the tail to lock in the second loop. The tail just needs to be longer than loops. Don't know the name but remember the knot.

He did a video on that very knot recently. He called it the Venus Fly Trap, it's a Portuguese Bowline with the two loops wrapping in opposite directions round an object, and the bitter end acting as the stopper as you describe.

👍 Have you noticed that you can set the button for quick release, if your tag end is long enough to remain behind when you "close" the button? Then to quickly undo the button, you simply release the load a little and tug on the tag end which pulls the button back out of its loop.

Cool, did you not trust the army recon "unloading knot so you could have retrieved the rope without going down? It's just on or two overhand loops with a bight through that. Keep it in tension and when load reaches ground it will bump loose. Love the knot content here

I wish I could do as much with rope as you can. I realize that if I were to put the hours in to learn it, just like you had to, I might be able to. However, instead, I will enjoy watching your videos because there is something beautiful in watching someone perform a task that they have mastered.

I can't stand when people try to come off all complimentary and then throw in a backhanded compliment like if only you had all the time this guy had to tie knots you might be as good as him. Like this dude just sits around all day tieing knots.Forget work forget family his life is just knots. You just assume he sits there all day tieng knots and there's no way he could be good unless so. And you just assume you'd be good if you did also. Go ahead dude. Some people got it some don't. You obviously do not got it.

You can do it! I spent this whole year learning to tie knots and uses for them for tree work. I'm very comfortable with most situations now and still practicing.

First just repeat what he do, then take step by step screenshots of the video, add important commentary that he say, then add your notes and paintings on that screenshots, save it in album on your phone, that's your cards for memory, then practice when you feel like it, or sick of social media or something

The big tip for that mug is that a layer of marshmallows really calms the surface down, increasing the amount of jitter needed to get a real splash to happen

This, the auto-releasing knot and the tripwire knot you've showed before are all similar in function using the bunk of a knot the take the load. Is there a name for this catagory of knot? I feel like there should be so you can better compare them
