    Rare footage of an experted master of self defence! I hardly fall on such detailed psychological analysis of bullying on youtube. As a Krav Maga practitioner, i venerate disciplines and i can't agree more for this context. In my humble opinion (i am glad that this visionary video agrees me); get clever friends (not supposed to be intelligent, clever is the key) who will back you up both mentally and physically, don't act like a prey in your life, yes, no need to be a hunter but you can still benefit being an observer! Create time to acknowledge of your self-awareness and try to expand it in a good way studying self defence techniques both mental and physical. Don't ever try to be friend with a bully, make a progress like that bully wants to be your friend. Cheers from Turkey!

    Great talk! Looking forward to hearing more.
    My two cents on bullying; bullies pick soft targets, so be a hard target and the bullies will automatically pick someone else.

    You cannot be friends with someone if you do not first respect each other. Such an important lesson! Really great advice again.
    May I ask what your martial arts background is in?

      I appreciate the comment Marc.
      Of course, mainly striking background (Karate Jutsu) I enjoy close range training. We do knees, elbows, punches, kicks, conditioning, vertical grappling, trapping, selective tension drills, scenario based pressure testing, tameshiwari, weapon and multiple opponents survival drills etc. We are not an artistic or olympic dojo. We try to train in a pragmatic way. You can have a look at what we do on instagram or facebook, just search for Shuhari Self Defence 🙂

    A very serious subject that most people with the authority to stop it avoid. In these days of social distancing for health reasons we have an opportunity to confront this subject properly, particularly when schools return with social distancing being in place. Thanks Shuhari for such a clear and precise opener on the subject.

      Hi Prasham, hope your eye is ok.
      Often peace has to be earned through improving combative skill through training. Go down the rabbit hole of combative arts and get to a respectable level 💪🏻 Stay safe

    Really good advice. Im 13 and I've been experiencing this. These stupid things that school makes like "Anti bullying club) Say the exact things that you said we're bad advice for example (confronting) These people who have been bullying have pretty much made me a shell of my former self really. I've lost confidence exam scores and friends because of some idiotic people who find pleasure in hurting me. I do think about those people though. They probably have something horrific going on in their minds right now. (Maybe abuse, Suicidal thoughts) I do have sympathy for them. I just can't get out of the habit of just acting normal about it. Sometimes I walk back home with a few bruises on my face and I just say I fell over or something. I just wish others don't go through what I am and I hope the people who are "bullies" Be happy and don't have to deal with stuff like abuse.
    PS: Anyone who's being bullied, please try and stay strong. Trust me ending it all sounds amazing and no more troubles, but I like to think in a few years I would be out of that school and those horrible people won't be around me anymore.
    Just please, Don't end it. Try calling the Samaritans if you are having suicidal thoughts. The organisation has all calls private and all confidential.
    I am not implying that I have suicidal thoughts. And I do not know of I have any mental illness like anxiety. However I had a friend who was suicidal. The organisation I talked about helped my friend from propbably killing himself. I will always thank the Samaritans.
    Thanks,
    GZP

      Thank you.
      Yes unfortunately the advice given in schools on this subject is damaging the person who gets bullied further. When the issue is not sorted, the person who suffers descends into a dark place mentally. Training and levelling up physically helps the person get out of the darkness mentally and resist bullying physically.

      How do we gain skill at anything? Practice.
      How do people learn to play a musical instrument or a new language? By dedicating their time. Find a pragmatic club that will teach you how to deal with physical pressure and dedicate yourself to the practice.

    You know it's really annoying but in primary they actually told us to just ignore them!

      I hear you Jeremy.
      Disengaging and distancing yourself is ok. But sometimes, when you ignore, it gets worse.

    I got bitten today by a girl in my year six class and it really hurts and I am half way through this video and have parent teacher interviews tmr and I have told my mum but I am a bit afraid she will fight me if she finds out it was me who snitched cause she has fought someone before. And she IS NOT afraid anyone or being expelled.

      Sorry to hear this has happened. People who have nothing to lose are dangerous. Stay away. Don’t let her in your personal space, do some training, so if it happens again, you know how to handle it. Stay safe 👍🏻

    what if they are getting bullied physically by a whole gang of people?

    • @ShuhariSelfDefence
      @ShuhariSelfDefence  2 года назад +2

      Hi Sasha, hope you are ok. Multiple opponents is very difficult.
      You need to be really well trained to handle that.
      Building a support group around you that can come to your aid when needed, and training at the same time is a great start. These two are easily combined if you make close friends where you are learning how to defend yourself.

    • @ShuhariSelfDefence
      @ShuhariSelfDefence  2 года назад

      Hi,
      A bully friend is an oxymoron.
      The two concepts are contradictory to each other. No one who bullies you is a friend.
      Maybe a fellow student, a neighbour, an acquaintance or colleague, but never a friend.

      @ShuhariSelfDefence  2 года назад

      Hi
      Sorry to hear that. Hope you are ok.
      No easy answers for this one.
      Weight matters. Thats why we have weight categories in combat sports.
      Height also matters because of reach when striking.
      However nothing matters as much as technique.
      With enough skill, you can successfully deal with a bigger snd less skilled opponent.
      Find someone to teach you pragmatic skill. An mma gym would be a great place to start.

    What do we do about physical bullies in schools here the U.S. with a zero tolerance policy? I am not talking about defending yourself. You can simply be the victim and not fight back and be suspended for "participating in a fight." You can be bloodied and bruised and take a thrashing and still get in trouble with the school! What are we to teach our children?

    • @ShuhariSelfDefence
      @ShuhariSelfDefence  4 года назад +3

      Hi Robert, hope you are ok.
      That is frustrating. Getting suspended for being attacked is preposterous. It is bullying followed by injustice. Zero tolerance should be directed at the bully who initiates the physical violence.
      Where the schools administrative interest clashes with the childs personal interest, the child will have to do what needs to be done, which is self defence. The school cannot tell a person not to defend.
      We teach our children to stand up for injustice doesn’t matter where it comes from.
