Wow, this will be the ultimate comparison video! I've never seen a comparison video that provides such an accurate comparison by controlling so many of the variables. Looking forward to seeing it!
I love the look and sound of skin heads and will second heads from John. Great product. Also, Jeff Memzies in Jamaica sells unique skin heads, but they are not premounted on the hoop.
new subscriber. you are doing a great service to the world of music. I'm restoring my old gibson banjo right now and would love to get a new head on her.
Awesome, thanks!
Looking forward to the reviews. I bought a fiberskyn head to replace my frosted Remo, and was very disappointed. On my fixed income, I cant afford to experiment. So, thanks!
I’ve always thought fiberskyn heads just muddied/ dulled the sound of my banjos, never liked them at all. Goat skins give that perfect amount of warmth while keeping a growl I like my banjos to have!

Chris Coole disagrees.
powbobs how so? I’m not familiar with his playing/tone preference
Ward Breeden
Look him up on RUclips. He’s amazing and his banjo has an old beat up finerskym head.
He certainly does!
To be properly tighten any kind of head you need a DrumDial. They're often available used.
I have one, they recommend not using them on skin heads though
@@BanjoLemonade There is no reason to not use a drum dial on a skin head. I've used mine for decades
Starry Night I would like to hear that 5 different Heads video
How does the goat feel about this?
😂
@@BanjoLemonade my tackhead has a goatskin head too. Nice mellow sound in the winter. Horrible outdoors in humid Chicago Summer
@@josephmichelotti6230 - yep
Often talented people are never satisfied with the sound of their instrument. I see that with fiddle players i know. Mandy, I think you 're like that too.
hmm never really thought of that, i do like trying out new sounds though.
