So here's what you've given me, Dan. I could never have afforded to drop what I was doing for 15 years and follow Donald and Walter around the world. But now, through the magic of the internet and your skill remastering these shows, I have been able to do a deep dive and become the Steely Dan fan I've always wanted to be. Decades of shows at my fingertips. That's astonishing for me, because Steely Dan has been an obsession for decades. Tonight, when I feed the dragon, it'll be with this show. Having interviewed Donald and Walter, I hope that your curation and preservation meant/means as much to them as it does to those who cherish every beat, note and vocal here. I hope there's more, of course, of solo work or with the Dukes or the Rock and Soul Revue. But even if this is it, it's a treasure trove unlike any other. Thank you.
Walter shines at this show. Time Out Of Mind, the interplay with Donald. Home At Last, he’s on fire and SO in the groove. Then the vocals on Haitian Divorce, smooth and sinister, even better than the original! Long live Walter Becker.
You know, listening to these concerts has been a rediscovery for me. I always loved Steely Dan, especially for their harmonies which I also use as a jazz composer, but now I am getting back into their music with a vengeance. Thank you Dan!
Mr.Belcher, I don't know how much effort you invest in the improvements to audio and video, but you certainly improve my time in the office by producing an uninterrupted musical experience. Thank you!! John
Thanks again Dan. Great work. To my ears, the band lost quite a bit of umph and tje magic sauce without Drew and Chris. Maybe they were just more excited first back on the road in the early 90’s. Nice show. Great mix.
Thanks for ripping and sharing it. The video is just AI upscaled, I am not good at video editing otherwise. For the audio, from what I remember... I took the SBD and AUD recordings and edited them separately. I used EQ to improve the balance, and multiband compression on the low frequencies to tighten up the bottom end. Then I used AI to split it into bass/drums/vox/other sounds and then processed those channels individually a little as needed and blended those back into the mix. I adjusted the timing to get the SBD and AUD tracks in line as best I could since they didn't run at the same speed, and blended them all together with a little compression and light limiting (not nearly as much of either as you'd hear in a commercial release, but some to even out and thicken things up when you aren't listening at super high volumes).
I don't think I have any Blurays to burn, but I can send you a download for the high quality MP4 if that'll work. Just shoot me an email djbelc01 (AT) gmail (DOT) com

I'm the one that ripped the video and did the surround sound mix for this video, and shared it on TDD. What did you do to upgrade it?
