I went up and down the East Coast that summer and saw as many classic rock bands as possible from DC to West Palm Beach. I taped the Steely Dan shows from West Palm (I went 90 minutes before the show and the box office handed me a front row center seat) and I struck up an email friendship with one of the back up singers that summer. She was from Orlando so we had that in common. She said she recalled me in the front row in West Palm but I have no way if she was just being nice or not. It was a great summer to say the least!

I come back to this a lot… if only for Walter singing “Haitian Divorce” with Harrington on lead guitar. So good!

I've been Blessed to see The Dan 4 times & in the front row each time. Early Reunion show in Miami '93/'94 w/Cornelius soaring & not tapping a foot as he blew us away! They had a mediocre Ld Gtrist George Wadelius for some time span; I don't know what for but he was there. The next 3 Shows were in SF & 2 Decades on as they were doing their 'Favorite' LPs Tour w/2 lps per & a few of their Hits nightly. These were all at the Masonic w/ each section tapering down to 3 seats in the front row separated by an aisle all the way around the Stage so it was perfect for the Music Lovers among us & I was Blessed to just show up & see from the first row at all 3 Shows w/eye contact & the fabulous Leonhart Couple [in the Woodwinds & among the 3 Singers]😮. What more can you hope from a good Union‽ The 'Speed of Heat' Tour by the great Skunk Baxter w/his highly sought after Session partner (from The TAP's works as well) & the other half of that team w/Baxter- CJ Vanston (on Keys at the TEC Awards' 'Rikki' w/Skunk). I wish Skunk's Solo work on the road started earlier but I am not in those shoes.🎼

I was there on a business trip from New York; only time I've ever been to Nashville. I happened to notice that Steely Dan was playing the night I arrived, and the hotel concierge hooked me up with a great ticket. The local cabbie who took me out to the show said he'd pick me up afterward, and he was indeed right out front at the end of the excellent show ... turned out he'd listened to the whole thing from the parking lot! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starwood_Amphitheatre I still think about this excellent show to this very day.

This is a great show. John Herington is a good player, but he isn't Larry. I really wanted to go to this concert event, but there was no way logistically to make it happen. It is funny to hear Larry talk about relearning the songs after his friends told him to get real -- the audience expected the leads to be exactly the way they were on the record.

i remember in the song sharing days (napster, etc) these files were widely available. I burnt em all onto a disc and listened in my car. Wasnt this originally a european import? At any rate they seem to have disappeared from the internet and ebay.

STELLAR masterpiece! Thank you for your work! I am also Dan, and a huge fan of The Dan. My first show was the Think Fast tour at South Lake Tahoe. It was the biggest party I had ever been a part of, and Steely Dan was the house band. What a wonderful experience, and quite the wicked hangover! We've seen nine shows since then, and we miss Walter dearly. God bless The Dan.

I live in the Chicago area and have been to The Chicago Theatre a number of times though I've not seen SD there. The sound on this recording is crazy good! Unfortunately, Fagen's voice isn't quite up to par on this night. Anyway, thanks for this vid and putting in the time to make sure it sounds good. 👍 BTW, the coordination of the photos and who's playing at the time is fantastic!

This performance is good but I prefer the tight eight piece unit that hit the road in ‘74. This performance is more of a LITE FM version of that rocking incarnation.

Saw them @ the Beacon 2014/16 and 18, great opening acts too; Russell Malone, Peter Bernstein, Ricky Lee Jones.

I think we can all agree that Cousin Dupree was an inexplicable mistake on 2VN. Otherwise those cuts here are pretty good. West of Hollywood started off bumpily but caught fire partway through. Home At Last here is fabulous. Unfortunately I think they hired the camera operators off the street as they were not good.
