- Fairfield police are investigating exactly what happened after a homeowner shot and killed a suspected intruder. The shooting death occurred on Tuesday at about 8:30 a.m., when a man knocked on the door, kicked the door open and broke into the house on Vintage Valley Drive after receiving no response, police said.

The homeowner is a true hero. He acted selflessly in protecting his home and family.
And, as a bi-product of his protecting himself, none of his neighbors will suffer from the dead criminal's further illegal activities. Imagine, he may well have saved others lives, spared them rapes, home invasions, etc.

Well, actually... He is a suspect until proven guilty in a court of law. The intruder's family can still sue for liable, even though it is obvious what happened. ...and the cost of the door as well. In Canada we have the give ground laws, you have to be pinned in with no escape, and be in imminent (seconds) from certain death to defend yourself. Imagine, being driven from your home, into the night, because criminal lives matter. Where did they mention it was a .357 magnum? He said it had an extended magazine. There are only a few .357 autos and they are not cheap. Guy had good taste. And remember, the average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes. The response time of a .357 magnum is 1400 feet per second.
Both the victim, and the suspect had firearms. The homeowner "apparently" had a .357, and according to the officer, the suspect a semi-automatic (presumably a 9mm) with extended magazines... at least that was my take on it.
