Perhaps the black community in Oakland can see that not holding their own people accountable for all the crime and violence hurts their own community too. The silence on the statistic was so that the non criminal black people don’t suffer more from the criminal stereotype. But if you continue to ignore that reality for 10 more years… it’s costing you all the same like it costs the city

What can I say about any of this? This violence has been going on in Oakland forever - people who live in Oakland need to wake up and recognize the blessings they have around them. The immediate bay area (Oakland, San Francisco, Berkeley, San Leandro, etc) is one of the few regions in the entire United States that will remain relatively resistant to climate change. If you live there, do NOT take what you have for granted. Take care of one another - don't let big real estate conglomerates grab everything up - work hard, engage in community. Understand that hip hop is dead - it has been co-opted by people with a particular agenda - and that agenda includes keeping poor people poor. That is why it has become a dumbed-down violence promoting shell of its former self.
