Thank you to Casio Australia for sponsoring this video and for letting me play with a whol heap of new Edificeseses. My verdict? Three steps forwards, three steps backwards! Some improvements over the old models, for sure, but these seems to have come at the expense of slight backwards steps in other areas. Maybe they will put those lovely dials in a 40mm case at some point. But at least one can still buy the original if one wants to. Cheers, Jody

I am so disappointed with the sizing of these. They’re lovely, and would be an instant buy if it was 38mm, but 42mm is way too big for my preference. I loved my EFV-110d but it was a tad small at 35mm and it ended up leaving my collection, you could say I have “gifters regret”.

Everyone’s different and size is personal preference. Personally my efv 100 fits me great and I have smaller wrists maybe because of the small lugs. But I couldn’t go over 42 that’s for sure. You might be surprised, pick one up they kind of shrink on the wrist and they’re comfortable too!

Hello, Jody! Having watched your previous review I bought Casio Edifice EFV-100D-1A. Nice black sunburst dial with yellow accents (second hand and WR 100M text). Still like the first generation more. It has more originality and character, inspired by Aqua Terra but not trying to copy it too much. Smaller case size with screw down crown and lumed markers. The only improvement I see in the sequel is the clasp with more adjustment holes. Anyway, I bought the Hirsch Grand Duke 100 m water resistant leather strap, which costs almost like the watch itself. With this strap the 100 USD Casio looks much more expensive :)

Also I think it's funny they have the 1/5 seconds marked on the outer track while lacking second/minute marks on the chrono hands. The one reminds you that you're wearing a quartz, while the other reduces the usefulness of the chrono. Personally think a larger broad arrow hour hand would look nicer, but understand why Casio went with the smaller - ultimately came down to standardising parts for the new range, and knowing a larger arrow would obscure the chronology sub-dials. Nice looking watch all around though, totally a 'gateway' watch

    1. Thinner hands look better on the new non chrono than the old non chrono, but chunkier was better on the old chrono.
    2. As someone who does use a chrono to time seconds, no seconds markings makes this chrono a non-starter.
    3. Love the light blue seconds hand!
    4. As always: big dif between a crappy pressed clasp and a good one. Looks like this one is perfectly adequate.

My ef106sg is one of my favorites In my collection despite pitiful lume, a dinky date window, and tacky-looking gold-tone accents. It’s perfectly legible (in daylight) and balls-on accurate. The case and bracelet laugh at abuse. The glass is barely scratched after four years of outdoor work. I’ll probably have it the rest of my life, regarding it more with respect than enthusiasm.

Not something I'd wear myself, but look very Omega and cheap enough to get as presents. Cool, Cheers mate 👍🏻👍🏻

The blue is striking but a less common color would been superior.

I personally don't like the bigger size and the press on caseback. The size is just too big for me and I think screw on case backs are way easier to open for a battery change since this is a quartz.

I really like the look of these.
I've been searching for the older version with the white dial and the smaller 35mm case for the longest time now and I can't seem to find it anywhere....
    Maybe someone here can help?

    For the 3-hander: Older
I cannot stand pressed on case backs.
    For the Chrono:. Toss up
I don't use the functionalities. I have sold the majority of the Chrono's in my collection.

I'm a big fan of the new model, it looks much nicer and the brushed bracelet is a big improvement for me.
the size increase is a good thing for me (7.25-7.5 inch wrist) but it does seem like an odd choice overall. I feel like Casio is pushing away a lot of buyers by not offering something at a more reasonable size. Hopefully they'll release a 38mm model, but that seems unlikely.

Great video, great watches. Fantastic quality and attention to detail and superior to the Tissot PRX I owned whose seconds hand hit the marker at 12.05 and then didn't even hit one before or after that. The lume is disappointing though, far better on my Mudmaster.

I prefer the older 3 hander but the dial on the new one is killer! The polishing and brushing on the old one as well as the screw down crown and the larger (wider) hand set makes for a better all around watch for me. Now personally I prefer the size of the new one because of my wrist size and that dial on the new one is much nicer too! All in all Casio gives you a lot for your money and at this price it's a no brainer👍

The stipey dials make me think more of the Tag Aquaracer first and foremost! But then I haven't seen the Omega Aquaterra that closely. I wish they had retained the older handset though.

I really like the look of the new one, but my god, that size! I wish it was a 35-38 instead. Personally I prefer the new handset.

  • @RM-el3gw

I think the new handset is a big improvement - looks better in my opinion, the older one looked less refined and too flat. The bracelet is also a big improvement, way too much bling on the older one.
On the other hand... The loss of screw-on caseback and screw-down crown is a disadvantage. The previous case finishing also was as you said, better or at least ore interesting, although the newer one isn't necessarily bad.
Good looking watch. But I'm not sure I'd pay MSRP for it.

Looks like great deals for the money. In fact, for anyone looking for a low cost quartz watch that looks like an Omega, the 3-hand version seems a better buy than the MoonSwatch.
