My wife had bad dandruff that didn't want to go away. Every dermatologist she goes to see they all told her there is no cure for it. We came across Dr. Berg's videos and we started Keto diet. 2.5 months later her dandruff is gone with no medication. Also, we're doing intermittent fasting. We're both down 30lbs and my blood pressure is down 30 points. It's like a miracle.
Yeah I do keto and I barely eat any sugar at all. None of that worked. What actually did work was getting a chlorine filter for my shower. Solved my life long dandruff problem overnight.
Yup, my issue has worsened or gotten better, depending on the area in which I've lived. (I'm not a home owner & apt leases run about 12 months.) In one area, I had to resort to only washing my hair at my parents' place due to the dreadful water supply where I lived that year. At the very same place, I had a friend visit from out-of-town who attempted to rinse his face and screamed when the water went into his eyes. (That's saying something, because he was from a coastal town where everyone knows the chlorine is strong.) Meanwhile, the apt people had told me that I was "just sensitive" when I called to ask what was going on with the water supply. I bought a "zero water" pitcher that I would use for a cold douse/rinse when I absolutely had to wash my hair there. 🥶
I had my wisdom teeth out and they made me take antibiotics, a week later i had the most annoying, gross dandruff. Thanks for helping me make the connection.
Same. I took some for a infected toe and the next week I had dandruff. I still have it three weeks later. Also the antibiotics made me gain weight. I’m like WTF!
I had severe dandruff and itchy scalp when I was 13 back in the '70's. Derma doc told me to use Ivory dish soap, watered down with distilled water, I did and it went away. When Dawn dish soap came out, I used that. Later in life, I had a severe reaction to a sulpha drug, doctor told me not to use shampoos with sulphates in them. I switched recently from Dawn/water to Dr. Berg's shampoo and I love it. It's the only shampoo I've been able to use since 1969!
I had at times very bad dandruff and never knew why. I wasn’t even thinking about dandruff but after I went KETO and IF, I noticed I no longer had dandruff. I was shocked and happy at the same time. I would’ve never thought that would happen. So many things are getting fixed with just diet.
In India, we use unflavored yogurt on hair (sometimes with a few drops of lemon juice) before shampooing the hair. Put it on scalp and on the length of hair for 15-20 mins and then wash it off. It reduces dandruff and conditions the hair as well. Edit : Also your hair and scalp should be exposed to the sun everyday for at least 10-15 mins.
I've had dandruff all my life. 3 months ago i decided to stop washing my hair with shampoo and conditioner, only using water. it has been a life changer.
I fixed my diet a few months back to loose weight and my dandruff drastically reduced as a consequence. I 100% agree with the science of this. I also used a probiotic hair serum from living proof that perfected the treatment.
I had dandruff my whole life until I went keto. At first I didn‘t even realize it was gone, just like my receeding gum line on my teeth & bleeding gums . . . just started to regenerate (get healthy). It‘s crazy how manythings improved: sleep, energy, digestion, cognitive strength/ concentration. Thanks Doc 🙏 you had a direct impact in my success!! God bless and keep you 💞 & Mrs. B & kids & Charlie!
@rocketscientist66 Icured my dandruff, dry knees and elbows by drinking orange juice mixed with lemon juice and i put 2 old, clean pennys in the gallon of juice. Dont use new pennys as they contain zinc. I drink a quart a day.
@@glennerd3125 Don‘t think Dr. B would wanna test your blood glucose or insulin levels after all that fructose. Lemons and their juice are super, the oranges usually are loaded with too much sugar. But if it works for you, great! Anything‘s better than drinking cocacola, sweet-tea or mountain dew, that‘s for sure 😉
@@saifmd7001 Yes it did, totally. But you maybe should add up all the factors: clean, healthy, whole foods. I also started drinking every morning a big, hot „bulletproof“ coffee with butter, coconut oil, cream, almond milk, strong coffee of course and added about 7 diff. spices: tumeric, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, black pepper, cayenne pepper, pink himalayan salt, a little stevia. This coffee is my addiction, spicy and sweet 😋 and it gives me energy the whole day. I usually eat lunch at 1-2pm and sometimes have something small for dinner (before 6pm), so I get my intermittent fasting. Many times I just eat OMAD, plus I like to do a 2-3 day extended water fast once a month with just water and herb tea (no coffee, no BP-coffee). My hair, teeth, skin and nails are much healthier! I am much healthier overall
I have struggled with this all throughout my adult life... It began when i became an alcoholic... Its a very painful, embarrassing situation... Thankfully ive been sober for ten years but still love chocolate... So this is so helpful ..
I stopped using shampoo altogether a month ago. First hair reaction was to grease after 2-3 days. I continued to use only water. The grease disappeared. My hair look clean and healthy all the time. Dandruff is gone. Now I'm thinking of applying something my grandfather did, who has the best hair his while life, which is vinegar. Maybe with some olive oil, like a hair mask.
Look into neem oil, neem is antifungal, antiviral, antibacterial, and antiparasite. Neem oil is also great at helping heal and moisturizer to the skin, it does not smell good though at all
Check out Stefan Molyneux's podcast, especially the call-ins, for the Fibromyalgia... it may have nothing to do with diet, much to do with psychology & philosophy.
@@exnihilonihilfit6316 Part of her post, "and no longer have symptoms of Fibromylagia that plaqued me for 10 years." I think it's safe to say, Becky is doing well.
@@AngelsandDragonfliesAIVideos That's great, but the issues that causes may still be there, even if not to that degree... Fibromyalgia is generally "in the head": caused by f-ed up stuff in the childhood which should or shouldn't have happened.
Great explenation! I have had severe dandruff problems my entire life, visiting many doctors and using all kinds of prescribed and unprescribed solutions. The problem is most shampoos make you dependant on them and as soon as you stop using them it returns just as bad. The chemicals in them will basically slowly eat you alive. In 2016 I fell in love with a nutritionist. We have been in a relationship over 6 years now and walked a path of healing together. Now I know that the main reasons for my dandruff were gluten and sugar. Every time now, when I step out of my current diet to consume either of these my dandruff reappears after being completely absent.
I agree totally with the findings and conclusions of this vlog by Dr. Berg. My chronic case of dandruff totally disappeared when I embraced the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting in my lifestyle three years ago.
Dr. Berg, I've suffered with dandruff for the last year or so. I've gone through my 20s with no scalp issues: I've always had great, healthy, shiny hair and a healthy scalp. My mom passed away last year, and as a result of the deep despair I faced I started eating garbage (lots of carbs and sweets) and drinking alcohol excessively. I got covid in October and my scalp issues got worse in November/December. Started shedding like crazy, dandruff was crazy, itchiness like I've never experienced. I went to my doctor, they told me there wasn't a lot they could because if it's caused by covid, they don't know enough to help me. 😒 I refuse to take "there's nothing we can do" as an answer. I knew I had put on weight and was unhealthy but I didn't realize how bad it was. I went back on keto, doing one meal a day, taking several vitamins, and now I'm doing the carnivore diet for a little while, incorporated organ meats (beef liver jerky from WF to start, then actual liver once I figured I could stomach it. Very aware of the potential for hypervitaminosis), exercising: weight lifting and running, making sure I get out for at least 2 hours of sunlight and fresh air every day. My scalp and hair are feeling normal again. I still get itches here and there, but the shedding is virtually non-existent. I'm still washing my hair with city (Chicago) water - and I'm going to get a good filter - but it's amazing how I've been able to reverse my issues with diet. My hair, which was always a light to medium brown, had turned a corpse gray/black while I was unhealthy, the color is coming back into my hair. Truly incredible to watch this transformation I'm going through. Thank you so much for putting out this information and I hope my story inspires someone to finally make the change.
Thank you for your testimony! I caught Covid in December of 2021 and noticed my scalp has been inflamed and very itchy since. And recently I have experienced some small patches of hair loss. I have also changed my diet. I switched up my diet just a few short days ago & I already noticed a slight difference in my skin. A healthy diet is the way to go. I must cut out the excess sugars! I forward to reporting back my results!
For a short term fix I can recommend apple cider vinegar. Just use it similar to a conditioner. Use a diluted solution, at least 1:3, massage it into your hair and let it there for a couple of minutes while you wash the rest of your body. If you have some bloody spots it will hurt at first. Then it helped me to leave it on longer... usually until it stopped hurting. The next days you will likely get some skin build up... but after 1-3 days it will be gone and underneath will be fresh, healthy skin. Anyway... rinse it out and let your hair dry. It won't be smelling very nice at first... buuuut as soon as it dries this scent will disappear. I had these problems since my puberty... all the special shampoos and the special creams from my doctors didn't help anything. It just got worse and worse.... I still have these outbreaks from time to time.. usually when I'm under a lot of stress. Most times I can fix it by just slowing down and taking care of the stress... If it's too severe, the ACV still works like a charm.
I have used Apple cider Vinegar for many years, and it is the only remedy that can give me relief from psoriasis.. But you need to do it continusly because it will always return, if you dont use it… Its very painfull in the beginning but you just need to go true the pain, you will be happy with the resultat !
The best remedy is to buy Amla and Shikakai powder. Mix 2 tablespoons of each with some boiling water. Apply on your scalp gently rubbing for 5min. Then leave it in for at least 20min/while you're taking a bath. Then rinse it with pure water. It takes some time and is a mess but worth it! After you have to wash your hair only once or twice a week. It is strong and shiny. No shampoo, no conditioner needed any more. (You can use silicone-free shampoo once a while if you don't have time for the procedure..)😊
I waited 1 year for my dermatologist appointment for my awful dandruff and she prescribed me with SEBCUR-T medicated shampoo and it changed my life. I only use it a couple times a year now if I have any flares up. My doctor kept telling me to buy over the counter dandruff shampoos and it made it worse after a couple days of reliefs. Getting that appointment has changed my life. Hopefully this helps to anyone suffering
I stopped using detergent shampoo a long time ago and use argan oil shampoo instead. It seemed to have helped because I use to get so much sebum build up, that I had to use a stiff scrub brush to break it up!
Selenium sulfate - Selsun Blue - the only over the counter that worked for my husband. He tried so many other before he found it. When he gets a flair up he uses that once or twice and it's gone!
Since January I was suffering from itchy scalp and hair loss . Neutrogena t-gel helped a lot but it wasn’t enough. I had to cut coffee (every time i drank coffee my hair would shed ) and change my diet cause I know what the problem was - my gut . Working on fasting and keto
I can actually confirm, I tried no carb diet for two weeks. I had a huge dandruff for almost 20 years. During this no-carb phase the dandruff completely vanished.
Glass and clean wood only. Stop using heated plastic, it is quite toxic. Also silicon bake tools are only good to medium temperatures, and offgas in boiling temperatures.
Your hormones may have a lot to do with it as well. Whenever things go haywire in the body it’s worth doing bloodwork to check if you have a condition causing the issue. We are all complex and it’s never just one thing. I did keto and that is when my dandruff issue began.
How long did you do keto? Getting started causes all kinds of problems with stored toxins getting dumped into your blood. Give it time and make sure you are eating high quality keto not cheap crappy meat.
My solution that's very effective (reducing 90% or more) and basically removing the problem together is 50% water and 50% pure apple cider vinegar. Apply that after shampooing on the scalp (rubbing it well) and then wait 30 or seconds, wash and add conditioner. DONE DONE DONE !:)
Yes this makes total sense! My dandruff flares up when I have too much sugar and yeast in my diet. Saccharomyces boulardii capsules and low carb help but when I don't stick to that I've found that The Body Shop Ginger shampoo clears it up straight away - I think the ginger's antifungal.
I’ve been waiting for this video for years! Thank you so much for shedding light on this age old problem, about how modern treatments do not treat it in the optimal way.
I use milk only on my hair 1/2 cup is plenty to clean should length hair and I only need to clean a couple times a week. Now this is all I use on my hair, eyes and body. Zero chemicals. I rinse the milk out with clear water. I bath rather than shower and the milk has removed dry eyes, cleared fungal toenails and ever in my 65 years has my hair been so manageable . It does lighten hair a little but at 65 I have no noticeable gray. Milk also worked to stop horrible discomfort of shingles. I can’t drink milk. But topical it has been amazing . Also resolved a life long battle with hives.
I had chronic seboria dandruff my entire life, and shampoo with panthenal made it worse, but when I changedmy diet after wheat and milk allergy diagnosis it almost immediately disappeared and has never been back.
Hi! I'm over 50 and have suffered from an itchy, flaky dermatitis scalp for over 30+ years. I have very thick wavy hair and tend to get a lot of build up. I recently used a baking soda rinse and then a charcoal detox shampoo and it helped my scalp feel better and so clean. I highly recommend it.
The main thing I learned about the Malassezia from the studies I read is that it thrives in a pH between 4.0 and 8.0. So the best way to get rid of this is to acidify the scalp, lower the pH below 4.0. That's why applying Apple Cider Vinegar, Salicylic Acid or Glycolic Acid works.
Itchy scalp sores pimples severe hair loss im heartbroken. Doctor gave me antibiotics and shampoo medicated for fungus nothing is helping. Im taking probiotics
After cutting sugar, eating more omega 3 and cutting of carb/gluten my dandruff stopped by itself. I did not have a lot issues with it so much before and changed diet because of other reasons like skin and gut health but I am amazed how healthy my hair and scalp is now. Also the skin! So I can confirm this. Thanks Dr. Berg for everything you do here! Learned so much from you and still learning! Listen to your body guys and don't treat it like a trash can.
Thank you so much for always linking your sources for people (like my parents) to read. It really shows that you’re not just saying things you think, that the information you are giving it actually trustworthy.
A million thanks for shedding light on this topic. But where is the link for a good chemical free shampoo which Dr. Berg mentioned at 9:54 .... I'm unable to find it😢
I have psoriasis vulgaris and scalp for almost 11 years. Doctors in my country said they didn't know the exact causes. They gave me oilments, even oral medicine. Not working until now, only temporary and it always came back. I also suffer from GERD. Just recently, i found out your channel about ACV. i drank it for around a month and the symptoms of GERD are slowly reduced, i also eat kimchi, yogurt, and arrowroot powder. it help me reduce the itches in my skin, even if it's slowly. Some even healed. And now, after i watched this video, i remembered that when i was a kid, i often got sick and drank antibiotics. I also have bad life style, less vegetable and fruit, also less workout. Everything is connected. Now, i start to improve my life, by add more veggies and fruits in my diet, also workout even i can only do it 2 time a week in weekends now due to my job. I don't think i can do keto diet but i will try to reduce carbo, especially from rice and bread/white flour. I want to do my best, cause i want to be healthy. Thank you Dr. Berg.
@@kavetimanasa6685 there were a lot of things happened for past year and my plan for changing lifestyle into healthy one didn't run smoothly. Well I don't have dandruff but I definitely have a vitamin D deficiency. I just came to tell Dr. Berg thank you for his knowledge. I started taking supplements and I'm already feeling better. I have pre-existing conditions that make it really easy to miss new symptoms by assuming it's an exacerbation of those conditions that are causing the issues. But I was soooooo fatigued for the last month, I knew there was something else wrong. The level of exhaustion scared me, and i was constantly falling asleep. After just a few days on supplements, I am already feeling better! I'm back to my 8 hours instead of 12 hours, plus naps lol
I’ve dealt both with fatigue and weakness too (autoimmune disease at play) but vitamin D has helped me tremendously too I suck at consistency it’s definitely needed
I have to add my experience as well. I had an itchy scalp and would have some flakes sometimes. After listening to this video, I realized that I haven’t had an itchy scalp in a while and I just went and scratched my scalp a few times and there was no white residue under my fingernails that I’d usually get when I did this before. I’ve only been washing my hair once a week and it wasn’t intentional. I’ve been doing intermittent fasting since November 2021 and I significantly cut down on my carbs and sugar intake since March this year. I eat mostly meat, dairy, and eggs. 😊
@@AldousHuxley7 I did cut down on that too, but I still eat pasta. Just try to be more conscious of how much. I consumed a lot of sugar (daily), plus the carbs (rice, potatoes, pasta). Now I cut down on sugar and on rare occasion I may have a meal with rice.
@@WamsyAmsy how did you get started please tell me I want I try it this dandruff is killing me, so itchy. I don’t know where to start. My mom does all the cooking and she cooks Mexican food that’s high in carbs and gluten. Like how did you switch to no carb no sugar no dairy diet? And what foods did you eat throughout the day to give me a idea? Please I really wanna know
@@lilsushiboi5996 Hi there! How I started was by not telling myself that from now on I will NEVER eat carbs or sugar. Instead I challenged myself to do it just for 3 days and see how I felt after that. Once those 3 days were done, I felt so good that I just naturally wanted to continue to eat this way. It was a mental thing for me, bc saying I’ll never touch another sweet or carb was not realistic in my case. So my suggestion would be to start with a smaller goal - cut the carbs/sugar for a couple of days and see how you feel after. Or try to make at least one meal of the day carb free and gradually increase that. The cravings will go away eventually. Good luck! 😃 I ate mostly ground beef, eggs, dairy. I’d have pasta here and there and some veggies. As with everything, your body will need some time to adjust. Try to listen to its cues. 😊
Ever since I was around 15 (almost 43 now) I've had dandruff on only the sides of my head, in my beard, and occasionally on my chest. And no matter what dandruff shampoo I use, it won't go away. It only ever slightly reduces. I also have it inside my ears. Not in the ear canal, just inside the exterior part of my ears.
Having done point (2) I’m better, but there is still dandruff. I’m massaging my scalp weekly with MCT oil with Tea Tree oil, and let it sit for 15 minutes before I rinse out. It works quite well, for me. I’ve also stopped using shampoo and conditioner, using only water. I’ve also stopped using deodorant, but rather wash armpits and groin every morning with lukewarm water and a cloth. Aftet visiting a swimming hall with chlorine, I also do the oil treatment. All trying to preserve my good bacteria, as best I can.
I've lowered my carb intake and eat a lot more butter, eggs, meat, yogurt, kefir and my dandruff seems to be getting worse. I eat either sauerkraut or kimchi every day without fail. Chlorine/tap water shower only once a week, if that, the rest of the time I use my rain water tank to wash. Get hours of sun exposure a day. I thought it may have been due to all the eggs I have been eating.. still unsure of the root cause but I do believe it is gut related.
I have always had dandruff. I tried quitting shampooing my hair, putting diluted apple cider vinegar on it but it was all useless and made my skin dry, which boosted the production of dandruff. Finally I started keto 2 weeks ago and I dont have any anymore. 👍
Ok, time to chime in here. How I CURED my dandruff. Had it since HS. (Probably sooner.) Usually some over the counter anti dandruff shampoo a few times a week kept it in check, mostly. Several years ago it got bad. Chunks coming off my scalp. I tried EVERY product on the market. I tried some over the counter things like soaking your head in listerine, tried rinsing with apple cider vinegar, even tried coal tar shampoos. NOTHING worked. Went to a dermatologist who took a three second look, said "Scalp psoriasis, no known cause, no known cure" charged me over 200 bucks, gave me a prescription for some expensive drops to stop itching and have a nice day. Yea well.... I had recently started reading up on all the crap in our foods. So decided to look up soap. OH MY GOD! Soaps are even LESS regulated than our food and just about every chemical in soap is an irritant if not a carcinogen. I started looking for all natural soaps. Found one (tried several, this is my favorite.) Dr. Bronner's new castle liquid soap. Thought I'd give it a two week trial and use nothing else. Well the no known cause psoriasis went away. The dandruff I had for decades completely went away. Oh I can still scratch my scalp and get a few flakes to fall, we all shed skin so guessing some of that is normal. But no more flakes on my shoulders. A few other non related rashes I had in other places all cleared up too. Now I had already cut most carbs out, (went on atkins for awhile.) A lot of foods I stopped buying because of all the garbage in processed food now, learned a ton about diet and learning more every day but this psoriasis started after the change in diet. I haven't had a can of pop in several decades now. It wasn't until I changed soap that this all cleared.
@@jhb9254 Oh I tried several with tea tree in it. Then even bought a bottle of straight tea tree oil and started adding an eye dropper more to the bottle. (Probably way more than the ones that claim to be tea tree.... all they have to do is put in a drop to make the claim.) It made no more difference than anything else. The cure was simply get OFF all the chemical filled crap.
I use to always use Nizoral for my dandruff struggled ever since I was a teenager ! And I had ran out and forgot to buy more cause I didn’t have any itchiness and my dandruff went away ! I noticed my dandruff went away when I started to cut out carbs and sugar my cravings for sugar went away I didn’t even realise I stopped eating sugar 😉 and my face it’s glowing I don’t have texture on my skin gone !
Dr. Berg, I came across one of your videos and it changed my life. Your sir are a great man. Wonderful information and God Bless you for sharing your knowledge.
I like the analogy with the soil: l'm an avid gardener, though mushrooms can be unsightly, l rejoice whenever l see them sprouting on my plot, I know the soil is healthy.
With seborrheic dermatitis and possible psoriasis, do not use olive or coconut oils on the scalp. It feeds the yeast & causes more irritation. Instead use sweet almond oil, jojoba and pure organic castor oil.
I have done and continue to do most of the things, that you recommend on your videos, for years. I have been using all natural products and eating organic whole natural foods for 10 years. I am not following a keto diet, but do fast daily for about 12 hours on average. My problem I believe is not having my gallbladder. It has been one problem after another following the removal to which I was extremely hesitant to do. I tried every natural alternative that I knew about back then but had no success. I even tried the gallbladder and liver cleanse. It is absolutely frustrating that as a society we are okay with removing organs. Now granted, I know there are medical emergencies that require drastic measures but to remove an organ due to a tiny stone or minor issue that could be resolved in less problematic ways is insane to me. The medical field lets us down in my opinion. I am so glad that you are sharing this information to help people be their own advocates. There are alternatives that do work!
I totally agree with you. I didn't remove mine, doctors wanted to, they told me, there was no solution only removal BUT GOD yes with fasting and praying 🙏🏻 God healed me from gallstones disease. Thank You Jesus🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 You too can be healed🙏🏻
I’ve been dealing with sebborheic dermatitis (beard, scalp, creases of nose) for the past few years. Never had any skin issues until then. I’m almost positive that there is a gut-skin connection, which is not surprising, as the state of your gut affects almost everything. My wife and I eat very cleanly, and I don’t get many flare-ups, but if I eat things that I’m not used to eating (fried foods, etc.) consistently for a few days, I can feel the itch coming on.
Me too.. I’m 35 and the problem started about 12 years ago. Now that I think of it, I wanted to bean athlete when I was younger and the problem with dandruff and skin issues like sebhorreic started after I gave up on being an athlete. I probably started eating poorly and drinking more alcohol. Or maybe it was after using an antibiotic, who knows at this point. What I noticed though is that when I’m on keto, the problem subsides. It goes away completely or almost completely. Maybe it really is a mixture of low carbs, sugar AND omega 6. It makes sense. I never consume probiotics or fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, etc. Will try this time with keto + low omega 6.
Also I forgot, in case this helps someone with these issues. I found there’s a direct correlation with bread and dandruff + sebhorreic dermatitis for me. Recently I got off keto and started consuming bread like crazy. I did this twice. The first time I was consuming bread and butter and I got a ton of acne, which I never have, in my forehead region. I thought it was the butter, not the bread. But I cleaned my diet and it went away. Next I fell off the wagon again and ate bread a lot but without butter, mostly with mayonese, cheese and ham, and same problem again. So it’s not the butter, it’s something in the bread.
@@Carloss86py Good to know. I’m around the same age as you. The only bread I really eat regularly is sourdough, which is the best option because it’s fermented.
Hi Mark B please see my comments above. Use only pure sweet almond oil, jojoba, or organic castor oil on your scalp. You can leave it on or overnight & use a mild shampoo to wash it out ok.
Certain hair products really add to the dandruff problem. I've had good luck with tea tree shampoo and quit using specific dandruff shampoos years ago. They're just too harsh on the hair itself, but the scalp did improve. I've also stopped washing my hair daily but wash it now about every three days, sometimes just wetting it in between washings.. I brush it out well nightly and massage the scalp. This seems to help distribute the natural oils more evenly. I still get a few flakes here and there, but nothing like when I was younger. Oh, and genetics tests show that I'm prone to having dandruff, which was interesting. My son has stopped using soap AND deodorant entirely! You read that correctly. He says the whole soap industry is a scam. After he stopped using soap, it was dicey with his roommates for about three weeks. His hair got oily. He got dandruff. His skin broke out. Gross. Then, voila....no more smell. No more flakes. No more breakouts. He claims the microbiome on his skin is now healthy, which is what the soap destroyed. Interesting. And brave.
Amazing you are doing a video on this. I realized that my dandruff went away after I started following Dr berg and doing Keto and changing my eating and fasting. Thank you
Two young Africans (Angola and Mozambique who also speak Portuguese) came to a podcast from Brazil to participate in a podcast aimed at a young audience and most of the comments were about the energy, disposition, joy and visible health of the boys from Africa , mainly compared to Brazilian hosters. We often look at Africa as a malnourished or weak continent, but we forget how many harmful substances are making us in the Americas sick.
Hey Dr. Berg team, I would love for him to do a video on carnitine deficiency. This is the inability to use fats for energy. We can't do keto or fast which is what he recommends in EVERY video as a treatment for everything. Makes one feel hopeless about ever being truly healthy.
Very helpful to say it way saturated and not unsaturated fats. I was having way worse seborrheic dermatitis when I was putting on Shea butter. Once I switched to a liquid at room temperature oil for my skin it was not blazing hot and itchy all the time, just diet related. The Shea butter being hard at room temp has more saturated fat in it than a liquid oil like rose hips, which I use on my face.
I make a scrub paste with olive oil and salt and apply on my scalp only - not hair and I gently scrub my scalp. Than I wash out with shampoo, if its still oily than I do a second wash and finish with a mix of 1/4 vinager and 3/4 water and leave for about 3 mins, rinsw with water and than i use leave in conditioner. I do this when my scalp starts get itchy and dry, especially in the winter when wearing a beanie. I also eat a lot of Kim Chi & sauerkraut. Don't sleep with your hair wet - that will cause dandruff.
Appreciate the info Dr Berg. However if you are suffering with severe dandruff like seborrheic dermatitis and possible psoriasis on the scalp, ⚠️ please never use coconut or olive oil on your scalp⚠️ these oils irritate the scalp 3x worse! Instead use: sweet almond, jojoba or organic castor oil. Trust me it works for we who suffer with scalp conditions. I pray this helps someone. 🙏🏼
Dr. Berg I have used Listerine (original gold color), which has thyme oil, on my skin for sebborheic dermatitis flare ups and it works. But I am concerned about the other chemicals in it so I'm not sure if I should be using that. Very curious what you think about that. Thank you!
This was a big problem for me, not only on the head, but also spread to my face. I tried serveral things, and nothing worked. Then i tried to stop eating candy/chocolate and not long time after it just got better and better every day.
I've had dandruff for over 2 decades. I'm not talking little flakes either- I have big, chunky flakes that you can feel coming off my of my head if you ran your fingers along my scalp. I've also always had eczema and after becoming an adult, I started going to the doctor about it. I got prescription shampoo and a steroid cream, both of which just kind of stopped being effective. I'm a very healthy eater, which may help (who knows), but a year ago my armpits got so red and inflamed I went back to my derm and she just gave me more chemicals (anti fungal and steroid), which didn't work. I decided to take a shot in the dark and stopped wearing antiperspirant and skipped out on the Rx creams all together. Immediately I started seeing an improvement. A few months ago after my monster flakes moved in for the winter, I ran out of shampooo, so I decided to just use castille soap instead. Again, it was almost an immediate 180; most of my dandruff is gone since I stopped using *real* shampoo. I've even taken things a step further and I only shower 2-3 times per week to make things easier on my skin. I'm not a naturally stinky/sweaty person and I have a desk job, so this routine works for me. Look, I'm not typically into the woo-woo stuff (I'm a lawyer raised by scientists), but allowing my natural "filth" to kind of run its course has been really beneficial to me. I hope you fellow crusties figure out what works best for you, too!
I just came across your one of the video on fatty liver accidentally. Since then I m seeing your video. Your work is just amazing. But in a typical Indian family set-up , following keto is not so easy. But we see your video and try to do as much as possible. It has changed the way we see our diet. Thanks 🙏🙏🙏
I didn't start having scalp issues til I hit puberty. I briefly had dead skin and a scab break apart on my head and dandruff start. And my hair didn't seem as thick or volumed as it was. After washing out the dead skin and scab, I was left with dandruff. By this point I was also starting to get acne (not much just one or two) which seemed typical for puberty, and some very mild oily skin (only knew that due to a fee blackheads on my nose). So I hot on T-Gel for a time since it was super strong and would use it weekly and regular shampoo every other day. Later I got on head and shoulder (clinical one) and have been on it since. After a couple of days I'll get blackheads and dandruff on my head. So it seemed puberty started all of this...and it hasn't gone away
Ever since I was a teenager I’ve had dandruff in my hair and then my beard. Since I started Keto it got a little better, it wasn’t until I quit Caffeine (coffee and tea) that I don’t have it anymore. My skin and hair feels much softer and hydrated now.
i tried a scalp mask from olive oil ,vinaigre, lemonjuice ,carrot juice and some salt for an houre and it worked no more dandruf for 1 week and no scalp inflamation for one week !
1:20 zinc pyrithion is not banned in europe. at least not here in germany. you got a lot of dandruff shampoos with that in it. But yes, i was really suprised that my dandruff (40+ years used this shampoos) suddenly are cured within just 2 month of keto diet!! - and now, i know why!
I never made the connection, but my dandruff, which I had all my life, hasn't been a problem lately. I also spend most of my time in ketosis. Go fig. Thanks Doc!
A doctor recommended me to use apple cider vinegar the same way you recommended using those natural oils. It helped my friend a lot and I decided to start trying it this week.
I have had chronic insomnia, most of my life. I sometimes go several days with no sleep, and I have very unhealty. You point many related causes, yet my memory is so diminished that I will forget this very quickly. I suffer from seperation anxiety disorder and have been basically all alone since before covid. I have severe panic attacks as well. I use very little sugar. And am so tired and depressed by deaths of all my family since june 2014.
i had insomnia for decades and after my mom passed away even getting worse. doctor gave me sleeping pills is still didn't work. alhamdulillah after i took mace of nutmeg. i boil it and drink it now my sleep normal, i can slepp since 11 pm until 4 am because as Muslim i have to wake up for pray at dawn prayer time but after sunrise i still cam sleep again until 10-11 am since i am houswife without children so i habe nothing to do Alhamdulillah so i can use my time to sleep more. and sleep is the best thing in life❤
This is great, thanks for sharing Dr Berg. QUESTION: You always recommend fermented food, but every time I eat any of it, I get breakouts all over my skin and worsen in my allergies. Small portion of yogurt, sauerkrauet, etc. Please help me. Can the fermented food increase allergy and what can I do about it? THANK YOU
You are just detoxing. Keep it up do it in small amounts and increase over time. There is a battle going on in your gut and you feeling bad is dealing with the casualties of that battle. The good guys went in there and killed some bad. It is normal. Happy healing!!!
The other possibility is that you are allergic to histamine. The fermented foods are healthy but they also contain a lot of histamine, you might try antihistamine diet
I used to have lots of dandruff and itchy scalp, used all kinds of shampoo but it never went, one day I decided to use apple cider vinegar as my conditioner after shampooing, let it sit for 5 minutes then rinse with cold water, and suprisingly, the itchness and dandruffs stopped completely, I also use black seed oil and grapeseed oil or olive oil as moisturizer. But you have to be extra careful the ACP doesn't get into your eyes.
Cool story. When I got covid I could not eat I was sick for two weeks and could barley eat. I survived off some chunks of pineapple, lemon water, tea, and sips of chicken broth. I lost 15 lbs but something I noticed which was crazy...for once in soooo long my scalp did not itch like at all and my skin was crystal clear. Before that I had to scrub my scalp with vinegar every day or I’d literally itch tell it bled. I knew it had to do something with me not being able to eat. I think two weeks of serious fasting caused my leaky gut to heal up some.
*_I haven't washed my hair in over a decade. It's long and healthy. What I did at the start when I quit shampoo is I rinsed with diluted baking soda(not baking powder) and to remove odor: diluted apple cider vinegar(with the "Mother"). I have not used baking soda in 9.5 years, but if you try this and you feel you have "build up", just use a heaping tablespoon of baking soda in a spray bottle of water and aim for your scalp. Or, if you are adventurous, sprinkle baking soda right on your scalp on wet hair. I would like to claim baking soda removes 100% of "build up" and dead skin cells-but does it also remove the friendly bacteria and yeast mentioned in this video: hm, not sure? It does leave you feeling "very clean" on your scalp._* *_I am guessing you have forgotten elementary school science: DO NOT MIX ACV AND BAKING SODA ON YOUR HEAD, make sure you have rinsed very well before adding the other one. Also, keep your eyes closed when using diluted ACV, it will still sting your eyes and if it does: you won't do this again._* *_I nowadays only rinse my hair with ACV once every week or every two weeks, depending on the season, summer. once a week, winter: once a month, but even after 1 month it really doesn't smell like hair or "scalp". Your hair will NOT smell of vinegar if you use ACV, it will leave a slight "fruity scent"._* *_By not washing your hair, you gain fantastic "body" in the hair. Things take time, I'd say you would achieve maximum "body" after 6months._* *_You will not have greasy hair from this. You do not need to rinse your hair daily, you might think you should, if so, just do that. But after a while you will realize your hair looks better, your scalp doesn't itch and you won't have dandruff or large scales raining down from your head. Just great, healthy hair._*
I have been told that ACV with baking soda is a great way to clean jewelry, but I haven't tried it yet. Will there be some sort of dangerous chemical reaction if I try it? They said to put it together in like an aluminum pie pan, and then let the jewelry soak.
20 years ago I had a severe case of sebaceous dermatitis, I had all these oily scabs that formed on my scalp, in babies they call it cradle cap. I was at the local health food store, looking for a shampoo that might help and I had a young clerk come and ask me what I was looking for. When I described my problem she told me what I needed was a specifically balanced omega blend, not just omega 3's which were just starting to become popular, but a blend of 3-6-9 omegas, that I could get in a particular fish oil product. I tried it, and it took a couple of months but it cleared it up, and not just my scalp but I had always had pretty bad acne, and it helped that a lot. Over the years I have tried to share this with various people, medical, acquaintances, ect and most just give me that look, "okay, sure" and turn their back and roll their eyes. Oh well for them I guess.
@@annekendziora9114 It's Nordic Naturals, they used to brand it as 3-6-9, but now it's called something like "complete omega", it's omega 3 plus 70 mg GLA (what it says on the label). There are some other brands that make a blended formula, it comes in liquid form and they are all pretty pricey. I lived in Switzerland for a time and could get a plant base formula (which I think is better because it's more sustainable) and didn't cost an arm and a leg, but I haven't found it here. It's just so bewildering that even after 20 years, no one in mainstream medical will even listen. So sad. I guess it's like everything else these days, no real profit in it. Better to sell millions of bottles of H&S and all those prescriptions for steroids. Crazy.
I saw a video from another physician that said the fungus theory is wrong and that dandruff is caused by something in the diet. Once I find the video I’ll drop it here

Your thoughts on NIZAROL AND KETOCONAZOLE
My wife had bad dandruff that didn't want to go away. Every dermatologist she goes to see they all told her there is no cure for it. We came across Dr. Berg's videos and we started Keto diet. 2.5 months later her dandruff is gone with no medication. Also, we're doing intermittent fasting. We're both down 30lbs and my blood pressure is down 30 points. It's like a miracle.
Did you try scalp Scrub

Wow 🤩 that must be so cool to improve as a couple lol I bet you get interesting comments from your neighbors…
People don't realize, nothing is more unhealthy than over eating. We could all use a 7 day fast to reset everything.
I had very bad dandruff, eating healthily, using keto as my base, i now noticed that i have zero dandruff. You are appreciated, Dr Berg.

@@egyptstar9966 to date no dandruff. 🤗
Yeah I do keto and I barely eat any sugar at all. None of that worked. What actually did work was getting a chlorine filter for my shower. Solved my life long dandruff problem overnight.
Yup, my issue has worsened or gotten better, depending on the area in which I've lived. (I'm not a home owner & apt leases run about 12 months.)
In one area, I had to resort to only washing my hair at my parents' place due to the dreadful water supply where I lived that year.
just replaced all our filters very important
Interesting….i noticed I started getting dandruff when I moved to a very dry climate
Hello @geored5420 which one do you recommend
Yes this works heard about it from a lot of people
I had my wisdom teeth out and they made me take antibiotics, a week later i had the most annoying, gross dandruff. Thanks for helping me make the connection.
Same!! I could not understand where all this dandruff was coming from!
Same. I took some for a infected toe and the next week I had dandruff. I still have it three weeks later. Also the antibiotics made me gain weight. I’m like WTF!
Did you guys cure it with probiotics?
This guy is a blessing to mankind

Hey bro can u share ur num😢. I really fed up with this😢😢😢
In India, we use unflavored yogurt on hair (sometimes with a few drops of lemon juice) before shampooing the hair. Put it on scalp and on the length of hair for 15-20 mins and then wash it off. It reduces dandruff and conditions the hair as well.
Edit : Also your hair and scalp should be exposed to the sun everyday for at least 10-15 mins.
Sounds like probiotics in yogurt work...Thank you for sharing.
I have long curly very dry hair. Sounds like this might help. Thanks for the suggestion!

Such a systematic way of making people understand about the process and the science of solution. Loved it, Eric.
I fixed my diet a few months back to loose weight and my dandruff drastically reduced as a consequence. I 100% agree with the science of this. I also used a probiotic hair serum from living proof that perfected the treatment.
For my record,
Good: Tea tree oil, Garlic oil, Oregano oil, Probiotics
Bad: Soy oil, Carnola oil
Also watch out for sat fat intake while substituting seed oils with other oils or butter/lard
And I’d add to that limit carbs and no sugar
I had dandruff my whole life until I went keto. At first I didn‘t even realize it was gone, just like my receeding gum line on my teeth & bleeding gums . . . just started to regenerate (get healthy). It‘s crazy how manythings improved: sleep, energy, digestion, cognitive strength/ concentration. Thanks Doc 🙏 you had a direct impact in my success!!

Did your receding gum line stop and regenerate??

Neem oil is also great at helping heal and moisturizer to the skin, it does not smell good though at all
Neem oil maybe twice a month?
Dr.Berg, following your recommendations I have lost 80lbs and no longer have symptoms of Fibromylagia that plaqued me for 10 years. Thank you!
Check out Stefan Molyneux's podcast, especially the call-ins, for the Fibromyalgia... it may have nothing to do with diet, much to do with psychology & philosophy.

Hello, I am an Arab girl from Egypt and I follow you and I love you very much
Great explenation!
Glad you like the explanation here. Thanks for sharing your experience. Stay safe and healthy!

Also the little patch of psoriasis on my leg is practically gone - I suspect that's due to diet plus vitamin D/UV exposure.
That’s a heck of a testimonial!! May the force always be with you!! 🙏🏻😃👍🏼
When you had severe dandruff did you has massive hair loss? I am not sure if that could be my cause to so much hair loss.
Typically doctors default to "theres nothing we can do"
Like my Dermatology professor used to say :
Dandruff : It's all about the oil balance in the scalp. Both under-washing and over washing can cause it.
But you need to do it continusly because it will always return, if you dont use it…
Its very painfull in the beginning but you just need to go true the pain, you will be happy with the resultat !
Thank you so much for making a transparent video and not immediately suggesting chemical medications!
I stopped using detergent shampoo a long time ago and use argan oil shampoo instead. It seemed to have helped because I use to get so much sebum build up, that I had to use a stiff scrub brush to break it up!
Brands? Organic?
Selenium sulfate - Selsun Blue - the only over the counter that worked for my husband. He tried so many other before he found it. When he gets a flair up he uses that once or twice and it's gone!
Since January I was suffering from itchy scalp and hair loss . Neutrogena t-gel helped a lot but it wasn’t enough. I had to cut coffee (every time i drank coffee my hair would shed ) and change my diet cause I know what the problem was - my gut . Working on fasting and keto

Stop using heated plastic, it is quite toxic.
Also silicon bake tools are only good to medium temperatures, and offgas in boiling temperatures.
Heavy metal and chemicalless Ceramic also, as well as glass and clean wood tools
Also those nonstick pans contain chemical which causes birth defects longterm, undeniable.
Thank you Dr. Berg. I used virgin coconut oil to get rid of that problem and it worked very well.
Your hormones may have a lot to do with it as well. Whenever things go haywire in the body it’s worth doing bloodwork to check if you have a condition causing the issue. We are all complex and it’s never just one thing. I did keto and that is when my dandruff issue began.
Could be the endocrine disruptors in the products we use
How long did you do keto? Getting started causes all kinds of problems with stored toxins getting dumped into your blood. Give it time and make sure you are eating high quality keto not cheap crappy meat.
For me I think that happen the same. When I start to consum more fat the situation goes worse.
Are you still using that shampoo
I’ve been waiting for this video for years! Thank you so much for shedding light on this age old problem, about how modern treatments do not treat it in the optimal way.
I use milk only on my hair 1/2 cup is plenty to clean should length hair and I only need to clean a couple times a week. Now this is all I use on my hair, eyes and body. Zero chemicals. It does lighten hair a little but at 65 I have no noticeable gray. Milk also worked to stop horrible discomfort of shingles. I can’t drink milk. But topical it has been amazing . Also resolved a life long battle with hives.

Organic cloves and rosemary tea rinse your hair. I just let it dry on. It makes it warm calming very mild tingling sensation for hours.

But I was soooooo fatigued for the last month, I knew there was something else wrong. The level of exhaustion scared me, and i was constantly falling asleep. After just a few days on supplements, I am already feeling better! I'm back to my 8 hours instead of 12 hours, plus naps lol
I’ve dealt both with fatigue and weakness too (autoimmune disease at play) but vitamin D has helped me tremendously too
I suck at consistency it’s definitely needed
I have to add my experience as well. I had an itchy scalp and would have some flakes sometimes. After listening to this video, I realized that I haven’t had an itchy scalp in a while and I just went and scratched my scalp a few times and there was no white residue under my fingernails that I’d usually get when I did this before. I’ve only been washing my hair once a week and it wasn’t intentional.
I’ve been doing intermittent fasting since November 2021 and I significantly cut down on my carbs and sugar intake since March this year. I eat mostly meat, dairy, and eggs. 😊
Nice! Cut down on gluten too?
Good luck! 😃
I ate mostly ground beef, eggs, dairy. I’d have pasta here and there and some veggies. As with everything, your body will need some time to adjust. Try to listen to its cues. 😊
@@WamsyAmsy you can avoid milk and use diary products
Thank you Dr. Berg, I had dandruff my whole life, cutting out sugar & going Keto finally got rid of it.
That sounds more like psoriasis , dermatitis or eczema
@@rikkirobinson4429 psoriasis is different, but eczema is really just a synonym for what he is talking about.
I had to literally search "seborrheic dermatitis Dr Berg" cause I just wanted accurate information. You're the best doc.
Your instructions for me have been perfectly Devine for extended fasting. Thank you sir for literally saving my life!
Not just dandruff but also my psoriasis has cleared up since I started keto
That's fantastic!
Me2 can't still figure it out even tho my diet is clean
I have always had dandruff. I tried quitting shampooing my hair, putting diluted apple cider vinegar on it but it was all useless and made my skin dry, which boosted the production of dandruff. Finally I started keto 2 weeks ago and I dont have any anymore. 👍
you are supposed to wash with baking soda and rinse with vinegar. might be why it didn't work.
Found one (tried several, this is my favorite.)
Dr.
Waw thanks for taking the time
@sub R0cky that was all kinda useful information so I appreciated it
awesome! May you share if you use the tea tree one? also may you share how You diluted it?
@@jhb9254 Oh I tried several with tea tree in it. Then even bought a bottle of straight tea tree oil and started adding an eye dropper more to the bottle. (Probably way more than the ones that claim to be tea tree.... all they have to do is put in a drop to make the claim.) It made no more difference than anything else. The cure was simply get OFF all the chemical filled crap.
@oldschoolpkI prefer the stories
I have learned more medicine from Dr Berg than 4 years of pre med studies in college
Me too ❤️ I have learned a lot
Wow
A video on seborrheic eczema would be much appreciated, Dr Berg.
Use apple cider vinegar, undeluted every 2 days, within a week or less it will be gone, make sure to use undeluted acv
Yes u would love that as well!
With seborrheic dermatitis and possible psoriasis, do not use olive or coconut oils on the scalp. It feeds the yeast & causes more irritation. Instead use sweet almond oil, jojoba and pure organic castor oil.
I’d be surprised if he hadn’t made at least one video on this.
Agree🤗
Thank You Jesus🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
You too can be healed🙏🏻
@@Carloss86py
Good to know.
I suffer from the same. It's been that way my entire lifetime.
And brave.
wash hair with baking soda and rinse with apple cider vinegar. no conditioner on scalp just the ends.
I have learned all my holistic method from you...Salute to you Dr.Eric 🙏🏾
Hey Dr. Berg team, I would love for him to do a video on carnitine deficiency. This is the inability to use fats for energy. We can't do keto or fast which is what he recommends in EVERY video as a treatment for everything. Makes one feel hopeless about ever being truly healthy.
there are some other things too that prevent it such is liver damage and some nutrient toxicities as well
Very helpful to say it way saturated and not unsaturated fats.
Eating coconut oil kills dandruff.
That's true Castor oil helped me with this condition. Mine started when I moved to a cold country.
@@thilagadebeyer2559 it has really helped me too!
Tyfs, I use coconut oil on my hair but not scalp.
@@companyconfidential6624 absolutely
I hope you fellow crusties figure out what works best for you, too!
whats castille soap? should I just use a bar of soap?
Thank you Dr Berg for doing this for free. Like always great videos.

Could also be candida! Fermented foods create sugar which feeds the candida fungus
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your important research ♥I have a question- What about dairy products? Are they ok to eat?
It does leave you feeling "very clean" on your scalp._*
*_I am guessing you have forgotten elementary school science: DO NOT MIX ACV AND BAKING SODA ON YOUR HEAD, make sure you have rinsed very well before adding the other one. Also, keep your eyes closed when using diluted ACV, it will still sting your eyes and if it does: you won't do this again._*
*_I nowadays only rinse my hair with ACV once every week or every two weeks, depending on the season, summer. once a week, winter: once a month, but even after 1 month it really doesn't smell like hair or "scalp". Your hair will NOT smell of vinegar if you use ACV, it will leave a slight "fruity scent"._*
*_By not washing your hair, you gain fantastic "body" in the hair. Things take time, I'd say you would achieve maximum "body" after 6months._*
*_You will not have greasy hair from this. You do not need to rinse your hair daily, you might think you should, if so, just do that. But after a while you will realize your hair looks better, your scalp doesn't itch and you won't have dandruff or large scales raining down from your head. Just great, healthy hair._*
I use borax along with my shampoo. Foams up beautifully 😊
How diluted is your acv?
I have been told that ACV with baking soda is a great way to clean jewelry, but I haven't tried it yet. Will there be some sort of dangerous chemical reaction if I try it? They said to put it together in like an aluminum pie pan, and then let the jewelry soak.
Fragile Chords in the comments it said to not use them together because it may cause a reaction
Vinegar & baking soda would make a foamy cleaner.
I use this to clean produce
What type of fish oil did you take?
Crazy.
Please enlighten us on the type of fish oil as I suffer terribly from dandruff thank you.
Hi Ana, Did you took omega 3,6,9 supplyment or omega Shampoo(not sure)?
Nordic Naturals, Complete Omega. I'm not interested in doing an advert for this company, but that's what I use.
