    I just received snipersling.7 green, super fast bands. I shoot 9.5 steel outdoor and clay indoors. I thought clay was extremely inaccurate until I put these new bands on. Now they fly so fast it’s spot on!

    Great video as always Mark. It always amazes me how increasing latex thickness by such tiny amounts makes such a difference. I've been shooting 0.45 ALS for a while and when I jumped up to some Precise 0.6 I actually heard my shoulder and back muscles creak!!! Oh yeah, audio was spot on as well. Thanks buddy

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  2 года назад +1

      Thanks man. It is surprising the difference. Draw is a major component for accuracy. I find it strange that so many people shoot heavier bands with light ammo like 8mm. I started out the same shooting .65 and 7 with 8mm steel and useing small tapers. When I tried out .5 my 8mm was going way faster with a lighter draw and way more accurate.

    Snipersling black are some smokers. Fastest iv tested too. They are just a lil heavy for the style of shooting I do or I would shoot them more. .5 black gives me about 325fps but I shake to bad

    • @ATOMark

      Ya I think I got 327 but those bands were stretched to the max. I sure if I could turn green and pull these long draw I could reach 400fps. The black .5 I find a little heavy.

    • @ChuckinSteel
      @ChuckinSteel 2 года назад +2

      I can help you with this, I shoot pretty much exclusively snipersling yellow .5. The black is faster but with a heavier draw weight by far. Pound for pound the yellow shoots extremely fast for the draw weight and is much more fun to shoot.

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  2 года назад +1

      Chucking steel makes a great point and I agree 100% . The .5 yellow and black are close to the same speed but yellow has a much lighter draw which makes for a more accurate setup. I shoot mostly snipersling yellow or gongchi white because of the lighter draw. I will try to get that video done soon.

      I have to agree having a smoother lighter draw means you can practice more without fatigue . Been using the .85 Great White for 11mm steel for the same reason . At the end of the day accuracy tops power every time .

      I see where you are coming from. And I agree to a point. I think someone starting out shouldn't start out with heavy bands but work up to heavy bands. I can see shooting crazy heavy bands 1 or 2 times a week as an exercise to build up draw strength. Which would give the shooter a more stable hold.

    Some people think thicker is faster with bands but if they're too thick there's too much friction and they'll actually be slower. Thicker bands are needed to move heavier ammo but you actually want the thinest that will efficiently move the bbs.

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yup exactly right. Thinner bands have faster retraction. There is a sweet spot for bands and ammo. Just takes a little experimenting to find the right one for you.

    • @jimmynich4791
      @jimmynich4791 8 месяцев назад

      @ATOMark I bet someone has done the tests and has it all correlated somewhere. There's probably a sweet spot for widths & tapers as well but more for speed & band life, if the taper is too accute the bands won't last long at all.

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes very true. I have done videos on speed vs longevity. Some people think they get max speed with max longevity...... I believe they made a mistake. In all my testing, and I have done a lot..... a real lot. Max speed equals short life. Long life equals slower speeds. Really it is all about the balance of active band length, tapers and ammo and the shooters expectations. It is pretty simple the more stress you put on your bands the less they will last. Once you find a setup you like that meets your expectations of performance and longevity stick with it.

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  Год назад +1

      Agreed I reccomend that people hunt with the band they can most accurately shoot. Shot placement is king in every situation. When I do these band tests I am trying to show the potential speed of the bands. I am not reccomending people use the setup I am useing. Most likely these bands would be shooting at 270fps tapered at 20-12 for 9.5 mm steel and not maxed out. They would have a much lighter draw and be comfortable to shoot accurately and hunt with.

      @ATOMark  Год назад +1

      Good morning my friend. There are some people that hunt with 8mm steel but head shots are a must. 7mm steel I probably wouldn't try. The less weight the less energy you will have to drop your critter. For those size projectiles I would use .5, .55 or .6 maybe even .45 with some bands like bsb or snipersling. The lighter the projectile the more important speed is so I would reccomend snipersling black .5 they are extremely fast but don't last very long. You can get over 300fps with them if you tune your bands properly.

      Really it is all personal choice but there are a few things to considder. Tapered bands 99% of the time break at the pouch which is good because it goes away from your face instead of towards you. 2 tapered bands tend to be faster. Besides that it is all personal preference. I just did a video on this very topic with speeds and draw weights.

      @Luigi Merola I really can't give you any insight on this one bro. I always buy my snipersling products from snipersling and a couple times from wasp. You will need to contact the supplier you bought from.

    I do like the speed of the black .5 but the band life is terrible, sometimes less than 50 shots

      Really. I have never had that happen. But when I use amber belt I have problems.

    Why does the smaller ammo have more penetration than the bigger ammo? 9.5mm vs 11mm. Is it the speed?

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  Год назад +1

      Smaller surface area and higher speed. The larger ammo has less speed but pushes more energy into the target.

    Why not use .5 latex with a wider cut? Wouldn't that be faster than a .7 band of a narrower cut?

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  Год назад

      No it wouldn't, and it wouldn't be able to move heavy ammo. I have done tests with straight cut and tapered cuts. Tapers always win. I think you really have to find the sweet spot for your size ammo. Personally I shoot .45 and .5 with 8mm steel. Certain bands handle 9.5 pretty well with well tuned bands but I haven't found a .5 band that can handle 11mm steel.

    • @-_ellipsis_-5219
      @-_ellipsis_-5219 Год назад

      @ATO that doesn't seem right, though.
      .5mm latex cut wide can have the same amount of rubber in total as whatever cut you're using of .7mm. And from what we understand, thinner rubber retracts faster than thicker rubber.

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  Год назад +1

      @-_ Ellipsis _- you are right but it has its limits. That's why guys like Wayne Martin shoots .8 with a taper 25-20 for 11mm steel. I have done a video on how tapers affect speed with 3or 4 different tapers and 2 different size ammo. Results were interesting.

    • @-_ellipsis_-5219
      @-_ellipsis_-5219 Год назад

      @@ATOMark that really is interesting. I'm surprised the thinner rubber wouldn't just flat out be faster. Elastomers never fail to baffle me.

    I shoot 8mm steelballs with theraband black in full butterfly and the speed on a warm day is average 426 fps, but sadly the bandsets dont last verry long (average around 30shots)
    Due to that i'm in search for a new latex which lasts little bit longer and shoots the same speeds as theraband black
    Does anyone know if snipersling black could reach the same speeds as theraband black on 8mm steelballs when i take 0.7 ore 0.8 and apply the same tapers ?

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  Год назад +1

      Snipersling black and yellow are both really fast elastic. If you tune them correctly. I'm sure you will reach the same speeds or faster. Snipersling .5 is the fastest bands I have tested with 8mm steel.

      Usually it is told that thinner bands are faster then thicker bands, but i thaught about .7 ore .8, because of the recordset in our community
      The recordshot with 8mm steel and doublelayer theraband black in full butterfly was 507 fps, but the record was broken with 511fps 8mm steel with a single layer .9 latex (sadly this latex is no were to find anymore) this latex was called lilatex and it was purple, so i thaught maybe if i take .7 ore .8 snipersling black i will get similar results

      @bwstsnserwtrng .7 snipersling black is the fastest bands I have ever tested with 9.5mm steel short draw. I think it was 315fps. The draw is heavy but I would imagine long draw you could reduce the draw weight with great speed.

      @@ATOMark yes, i saw it verry impressive , only due to your video about it, i have now a good option (thank you once more)
      The drawwheight should be no problem it is not much different to the drawweight of doublelayer theraband black
