I love my Etchr white canvas sketchbooks, especially the hot press versions for gouache painting. I like to gesso the covers, then paint and seal them, which adds a very unique and personal touch.
@@insertaghere Hi there! Believe it or not, I seal them with Mod Podge! I brush one thin coat on with an old paint brush, let it dry really well, and then apply another thin coat.
I have the A6 and A5 landscape etcher coldpress sketchbooks and I love them! The paper quality is very good and is a joy to paint on, in my honest opinion. ❤
I’d say the white covered hot press etchr sketchbooks are my favourite to work in. Close second is the Hahnemühle Akademie watercolour book! I’m so happy they are making square format versions and hoping they don’t take too long to come out with hot pressed ones!
I may have squealed a little when I saw the thumbnail and again when you showed the sizes. 😂 Small square sketchbooks and small panoramic sketchbooks are my new obsession. My wish list just got bigger. (Back to video.) Thank you.
I've filled two etchr's cold press white-cover sketchbooks. I bought them from Jackson's Art at a very good price. I think the paper is great, with nice texture, not as good as my Archer paper though, as expected. So not taking as many layers of water medium. But they're definitely perfect for quick sketches, and, perform better, in my opinion, than the 100% cotton hahnemuhle sketchbooks. I always always always want to try their Signature series with Fabriano paper but it's way beyond my budget...
And I'd definitely get them in SQUARE, both bigger and smaller, once they are out. Hoping they bundle these three new formats instead of three of the same format.
I just received my pack of 3 x B5 white cover cold pressed SBs yesterday in the post - it took nearly 4 weeks to arrive! Im hooked on these now and initially tried both the cold and hot pressed but didn't like the hot pressed paper they use, felt a bit too smooth and thin so going forward its the cold pressed for me! May have to try the smaller new square sized ones when they are available... so badly want the perfect sketchbook but it's just too pricey! Great video as always :)
Do you have a video that gives other watercolor sketchbook options? Perhaps some slightly more budget-friendly? I know that good watercolor paper is getting really expensive. Thanks Teoh😊
I'm really excited to see the new square and panoramic formats! I use the Etchr everyday sketchbooks (white cover) well... every day! 😁 I actually started with their hot press sketchbook a few years ago for acrylic and traditional inks, and now use the cold press for plein air gouache work as well as watercolor for urban sketching. They are absolutely my favorite, most-used sketchbooks. I hope that one day they will offer some with toned papers as well, but for now the new formats sound great. Thank you for your reviews, Teoh!
There are Rosa sketchbooks in Ukraine which has Fabriano Unico/Artistico/Watercolor paper in A5 format. I have Unico one. Does Artistico good in showing granulation? Don't wanna waste my Daniel Smith watercolor on non-granulational paper 😢
I love etchr sketchbooks except for the two pages in the front that are glued together as well as two in the back. They are still usable but barely. That is my only complaint about them. I have two of them that I am currently working my way through.
If one wanted- would they be able to fold one of these books in half while working or would this ruin the stitching? Let’s say you’re working in a small coffee shop and needed to work on one page only.
It’s good paper but they’re Mixed Media sketchbooks not solely Watercolor. I have the small one because I wanted to try out the brand. It doesn’t eat my colored pencils and takes WC very well. Pen does quite well also. Everything looks great when it comes to color and vibrancy. It’s a bit expensive because Fabriano Artístico is expensive paper in and of itself. I may buy one a year as a splurge for me item but the cost isn’t conducive to a regular ongoing purchase, imho. I’m not a Pro but I can use up a sketchbook in no time doodling and urban sketching. I do really like the sketchbook. I mean sketchbooks are just for you not the museum or commissions. Good cotton sketchbook are a dime a dozen nowadays.
Yay! I love square format! This will be a great addition. I’m not a fan of portrait either as it isn’t very good for urban sketching. Thanks, Teoh!

What do you use to seal the covers?

Yaaaaay! I can’t wait until the square ones are available!

I agree I love square sketchbooks. I make them too.
I use the perfect sketchbook for my symposium book! I usually fill it up as I sketch all day and night!

Cass Art currently have The Perfect Sketchbook on sale for £39.95. I bought some a few years ago and they’re brilliant
Now for the shocker... the price 😂😂😂 I feel the special edition is worth it. It's a beautiful sketchbook. I'm a portraitist and LOVE it! 😊

Their everyday comes in b5 format too and i can usually find it for 40-45$. That’s less than half the price. Thank you for showing us!
I like the square sized!
“Now for the shocker…” Indeed 😮
great video, it was wonderful ❤❤❤

The price was about double what I was expecting. I would pay up to $40 USD, but beyond that it's not even a consideration.

@@teohyc thank you! Than I will buy to try it. So much believe you ❤️
Wahhh the new square format look so goood I want oneee but the price probably not so good lol 😂

Those glued pages can be used to stick stickers that you get from other sketchers
uhh square my favorite, but cant find it in any onlineshop yet (not even on the etchr page) 🤔(germany)
It will be available very soon

It's not gonna fold into half. Spiral bound should be use instead
Does Etchr have spiral bound too?
No spiral bound. There aren't many spiral bound sketchbooks in the market. I know Arches has one.

I just received by panoramic sketchbooks in hot press. Can’t to start working in them.
Still difficult to buy them in Japan…
EDITED to share Etchr said Hot Press is happening.
Commenting for RUclips
Nice
These look really nice but too expensive for me.
What? Oh my!
Way overpriced
