What made things more difficult for her was that she had to guess without listening, because you were wearing headphones, Dave. Congratulations to her!
My analysis: 1. A. No. It has too much dynamic and is not beautiful. B. No. Too many wrong and joking notes and without a trailing gliss. C. Yes. Clean staccato (rest) with the tone of Davie’s bass. 2. A. No. Too many ghost notes. B. Yes. Davie’s slide style and a long fermata with a sudden rest in the end (on timeline). C. No. Unforgivable messy lowend near the end. 3. A. Yes. Davie-style syncopation and gooving. B. No. No compression and 3:36 Davie thought bad too. C. No. Too smooth at the latter part and different pickup (tone of ghost notes) from Davie’s favorite bass. 4. A. No. Unforgivable persistent clipping on timeline. B. No. Some noises from touching the pickup. C. Yes. Davie-style syncopation and gooving. 5. A. No. Too jazzy with a slightly speedup at the end (with Davie’s smile at 5:37). B. Unsure (No). Davie-style gliss at the end. C. Unsure (Yes). Davie-style fingering and slap-like end. 6. A. Unsure (Yes). Davie’s ending slide and hit. B. No. Messy lowend at the beginning. C. Unsure (No). Too noisy slap end.
Wow! Great analysis. I've guessed all right except for the second, but I couldn't quite tell why I knew it was Davie, other than "it feels groovier and more precise in a Davie-ish way"
what does looking happy mean? don't tell me smiling from the eyes. the idea of deducing things from body language is so stupid because you can easily use those standards to act in a certain way and mislead the viewers. also, body language is not universal and it's just a social construct. it's a tool to communicate, not a mirror to the soul. you can never know anything about another person from first look. and just like love at first sight is seen as shallow, your comment should also be seen as shallow. it is very adorable that you think you can know what someone thinks or feels.
if knowing the true feelings by looks is actually real, no actor can objectively deserve an award more than the other, which is such a stupid thing to say. the entertainment industry won't stand your argument, and youtube wouldn't exist today
@@aelyndorren i know. i just need to clear some things up on some comments section. because since last year, i've been seeing people thinking they can know if a smile is true or not, by looking at the eyes. that's just plain stupid. if they knew about that, there's a big chance the smiler also knows that. so you can never know. also, some people just have awkward smiles. it's just a social construct. some people nod up and down to agree with you, in india they nod sideways. body language is the stupidest field of study i've ever heard about
All correct. If you image the plucking hands movement when listening, you can notice which ones were the corrects ones. In videos it seems so effortless, yet very clean. This image of playing can also be heard in recordings.
@@GoodMorning-b2w Oh yeah, not possible for everyone. However you could also guess the correct ones from volume differences/ accents, as there are no unecessary ups or downs in volume with change of rhythm or speed, but fluent flow in Davies play. As some people tend to increase or decrease volume (or accents) depending to speed of playing or what technic is used for each note (plucking, slap etc.).
I know nothing about bass and don't even watch this channel often, so I'm surprised I got all of them right. There really is a clear difference to how clean and confident your playing is, and how perfect the timing is. Also the emotion your playing conveys is completely different from the rest. Amazing
The thing with Davie tone is that its very bright, regardless of the bass, and the two other had a very darker sound with something like a p-bass pickup that even when he has Davie doesn't use much. Also it is noticeable that the amp or plugin is the same.
I'm really not a regular viewer, only ever seen a couple videos a while ago, but I decided to play along. I got lines 1, 3, 4 ,5 and 6 correct, by picking the recording that played the most dynamic while sounding the cleanest. Was legit surprised I kept getting it right
Darn. Got number 4 wrong, was between B and C. I agree with the wife, there's a certain level of cleanliness to Davie's playing. First bassline was so easy to guess. No one can play S L A P P like Davie.
i got it all right as well! :)))) funny idea for a video:). not only you could record it in cleaner tone, but also you could mute your other strings better when not played and your fast fingerstyle had a better quality. Plus, your way of SLAPPP has much better gap between the notes and you as the audience can hear different notes.
I got them all right... the reason being is - all of yours hit the rhythm spot on. the others were either behind or in front of the beat. choice of note too had to be perfect, which you always do! wife is safe
The tone is always a big giveaway… And also the beating on the instrument. Always a David trademark. Baseline number 6: it starts. Ok, don’t need to listen to anything else.
Great idea! I wish there was a little more of an explanation on the thought process that lead your wife to her decision. Love to see you guys on every single upload! :)
Got the second one wrong, i was struggling between B and C and took C... Basically for me your slap is... slappier than other slappers. Like you hit just a bit harder and faster in the string, it sounds more sporty even on slow lines. Maybe you move your hand sloppier which gives it a bit more force. Also no matter in which bass you play, your hit angle on the sites always make the site cling against the metal strips on the neck, which gives it a little more "dirt" in the sound. And you are using mostly very silent percussions while playing, if even any. This makes your lines very unique in my opinion.
I somehow got all of them right without any musical knowledge, except the second one which I guessed wrong. As for why... the only thing I had in mind was that when you play bass on videos there's more slap to it. Whenever you do videos where other bassists have to play your bass lines I usually think they don't sound as good precisely because of this. Without the kind of sound that slapping gives, their base lines sound more... simple, as if they were background music rather than a proper musical instrument.
I got them all right. It was fairly easy to pick out due to the better audio quality and "flowy" playing - the other players sounded like they were very purposefully plucking different strings a lot of the time (likely due to needing to replicate a bass-line), which sounded a tad awkward.
So happy to see you again! I guessed all Davie's bass lines because of his precise timing/drumming/slapping/ghosting👻. His unmistakable sign. Great video! Thanks Mrs&Mr!
5/6 your bass really has its own identity, I've been watching you since 2020 and I'm proud i didn't fail as bad as i was expecting at recognising ur basslines
it was easy because the tone on the other basses was different and your playing style is more aggressive and uses more staccato ones. i also compared the visual wave forms but primarily of course Davie slaps in an inimitable fashion. fun game!
I got them all right technically, just like the third choices, I changed from the right answer to a wrong one, so after that I decided to always go with what I felt, not thought.

I've guessed all!? And I don't know.... why? :D Maybe... 1. The sound. Your base has very clear, sharp, "selective" - sound. 2. The..."articulation"? Your all notes are very.... clear, I hear each note about on the same..."level". In other bass lines there were parts too quiet, then suddenly too loud....Some notes I just didn't hear. I couldn't recognise some parts. But your lines are very..."stable"? Like I could hear each note very precisely :)

The toughest yet, with bassline 2 being the second hardest so far. I really wasn't sure. The playing was different. Bassline 5: B. Oooooooo. I got it wrong. Here come the divorce papers. Oh. That doesn't apply to me. C was my second pick, but outside of the fun quirky end, overall B got my vote. I've been waiting for one of the basslines to either all be you or for none of them to be you. Bassline 6: A. B was a close second. I almost thought that was it, because I watched Davie's face while they were playing. You almost got me. 4 out of 5 ain't bad. I think that's a classic Meatloaf and the Casseroles B-side.
