CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) interrogates Brett (Frank Whaley) and recites his favorite passage from the Bible.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Outrageously violent, time-twisting, and in love with language, Pulp Fiction was widely considered the most influential American movie of the 1990s. Director and co-screenwriter Quentin Tarantino synthesized such seemingly disparate traditions as the syncopated language of David Mamet; the serious violence of American gangster movies, crime movies, and films noirs mixed up with the wacky violence of cartoons, video games, and Japanese animation; and the fragmented story-telling structures of such experimental classics as Citizen Kane, Rashomon, and La jetée. The Oscar-winning script by Tarantino and Roger Avary intertwines three stories, featuring Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta, in the role that single-handedly reignited his career, as hit men who have philosophical interchanges on such topics as the French names for American fast food products; Bruce Willis as a boxer out of a 1940s B-movie; and such other stalwarts as Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Christopher Walken, Eric Stoltz, Ving Rhames, and Uma Thurman, whose dance sequence with Travolta proved an instant classic.

Throwback to 2010, when in a Con Law class, I had to address prayer in school. Asked the class to pray with me. Recited this. Slammed my book closed at the end. Sadly, only like one person in the class got it and I'm pretty sure it was the teacher.
This whole scene of dialogue is pure gold. The thing that I love, is that Samuel L Jackson's reciting of the passage is mostly wrong and no one cares. Because it's just badass
Really gotta pay attention in this movie. As soon as Jules started talking about the bible and his scripture, Vincent puts out his cigarette and pulls out his gun. He already knows what's going to happen.
of course he knows. he read the script
@@trentchandler1922 Vincent didn’t read the script.
I think he got the heads up with the script the scene called for it
In the robbery scene Jules tells Ringo he liked to spat out bible verses because he thought it was a cool thing to do before killing someone, from that we can infer he has done this a million times before, ensuring us that Vincent has watched this happen before enough times to not even do remarks about it

most quotable movie scene of all time.
@Wes Bradley-Taubner This guy gets it
One thing I noticed, when Jules says "the finder of lost children," he says it directly to Marvin's face. The previous dialogue implies that Marvin got cold feet and ratted on the rest of his friends to Marsellus about their plan to rip him off, which is why Jules and Vincent know exactly where to show up. Marvin is even the one who lets them in; they didn't knock on the door, he opened it at the agreed-upon time. This was Jules telling him, "the boss will spare you this once, but don't even think of looking at him sideways again." Too bad about his firearms accident later.
Even before they get to the intensity, Jules had that comedy bit of “What ain’t no country I ever heard of, they speak English in What?”. Such a masterpiece segue, you can’t believe it was scripted and start thinking Samuel ad-libbed the whole thing.

Matthew Alexander Lemma I believe the Church had a lot of it removed because people wouldn't want to envision God as angry. An example of this is a book that told the story of Jesus' childhood, which depicted him as angry and not knowing how to handle his divine powers. Because of this, the book was removed from the Bible and addressed as an apocryphal book.

I just noticed something new, other than Jules' intentional glare at Marvin when he says "lost children,' and that's the two golden lights that briefly flash on screen when the camera is on Jules & Vincent. It's the same golden glow Vincent sees when he opens the case. Since I don't believe Tarantino has ever confirmed what's in the case, I feel that what Vincent is looking at is the power of all the souls Marcellus has taken during his reign.✋🏿💗🤚🏼
I love that Vince gets his gun ready when Jules starts quoting Ezekiel 25:17. He's like "oh boy here it comes"

One of the best scenes in film history!
I was at the gun range and i said YOU WILL KNOW MY NAME IS THE LORD before unloading my rifle. It was really fun.
I was on the rifle range at Fort Jackson firing an M-60 and yelling "GET SOME!!! GET SOME!!!" (like the door gunner in Full Metal Jacket). That was a good day. I was given 40 rounds and got through about half of them before the gun pushed me to the back of the foxhole, so I stopped firing; leaned into it, locking my right foot against the back of the foxhole & left knee against the front; wrapped the sling even tighter around my left arm & elbow and pulled the butt stock even tighter into my right shoulder (locked into my LCE) and was thinking "Ok.. I got this mother". It pushed me to the back of the foxhole again. That's when I learned that it's best to do multiple 3/5 round bursts instead of holding down the trigger; trying to fire all 40 rounds at once.
Probably one of the greatest scenes in film history. I really like it. However, Tarantino and Jackson really took their liberties with Ezekiel 25:17. Nothing like the scripture.
Yah but the restaurant scene redeems that liberty, IMHO.
actually, the last part is practically identical to the bible ( "and they shall know ..."). The rest is taken from Chiba the bodyguard, a movie eith a similar speech.
The main theory is in Tarantino's universe the bible is literally different, so that is the right quote from the in world perspective.
Says you...if sam l jackson says it's real, it's real dammit
Ikr, why is that? Why make it long and irrelevant? Why not just quote it the way it is, or quote another verse?

Lmao John Travoltas look once the prayer comes out.
The part he said about Marsellus basically foreshadowed what happened to him later.

The Ezekiel speech gets all the hype, and for good reason as it is epic, but his “say what again” line is amazing too
