- Due to the increasing popularity of goat-cheese and milk the number of dairy-goats, since 2000, has almost increased fivefold. This means there are also more male goat-kids than ever before. Male-kids are often considered "waste products" as they do not produce milk and their meat is of low value. What happens to the 150,000 male-kids that are born each year? Eyes on Animals started an investigation.
I raised dairy goats and always kept the males. They protect the herd and are companions to the main breeding buck. I swear humans make things too complicated. When I purchased a doe, I noticed a beautiful white Saanen buckling. I found out he was destined for slaughter, and my young buck needed a buddy. Best $50 I ever spent.
Ikr like it's fine to get product from animals but let then live a happy and natural life. Good on you for doing that

Id like to have some goats just to clear brush. We use them in the USA to clean out brush, they eat anything its the perfect animal to clean out a lot somone let go wild, as underbrush is why fires spread so fast and burn so hot.
Goats run wild by the black hills youll find a lot of grassy areas with no underbrush
The male goats are usefelull.
And goat poop is high in nitrogen its really good for your soils.

Horrific! I will never ever buy any Dutch dairy product again. I've been careful over the years to ask when I buy foods how they're manufactured and ask about animal cruelty. I don't want to consume foods that come from abuse torture exploitation or cruelty.

This is why mom and pop shop small scale farms are so important. Any time you have a major farm conglomerate/factory farm sad/horrible things happen because the farmers have no connection to the animals anymore.

I agree with you. I raise a few goats and they are having babies right now. I treat them all with love and make sure they are safe and sound . We even take walks through our woods in summer just for fun. I have to sell some every year but I make sure they have a good life. I think family farms do treat their animals much better than factory farms because we can.
u do know that once any small mom and pop shop becomes more successful they become the next farm factory. Thats how all conglomerate farm factories started off as, small. Basically, it makes no difference.

The mother can be conditioned to get used to it. It's just so much wasteful not to use their first months milk that could've let these foals survive to adulthood naturally.

Heart breaking to watch I only saw half of this video it's too distressing . Such a cruel fate for these little kid goats , how can the workers carry this out . . Such a horrible end to a few days of live. Unbelievable. These memories of watching this has really brought home how an unnecessary heartless cruel act by these people puts shame to being human .

I saw on television that male baby goats have negative value. The farmer has to pay money to get rid of the baby goats. So you can take them. The famers will be glad if anyone take them.

BTW, this video is overrated. Most farms do not have this. Our family owns and operates the biggest goat farm in BC, Canada, and nothing like this happens. I am been to many farms before, from family and not, and have seen everything about this farm, been to many Dutch farms, and I saw none of this. Yes, it is true that the goat kid is taken away from the mom after birth, but only the does. This is to prevent the doe kids from getting CAE, a disease where a goat gets swollen and crippled joints. When the kids are moved, they still have each other for company. And please do not make any comments if you have not a lot of farming experience or if you did not live/work on a goat farm

We're talking about animals being treated so disgustingly, and ultimately destroyed, and you are bothered by a label attached to them. The fact is, majority of animals with male genitalia (if that makes it easier for you to understand) are of no use to farmers.

I don't even use plant milk any more unless in a bit of baking. Many wonderful RUclips food channels that help with vegan recipes and life style.

I'm not ok with animals being abused. But, nature is what gives all carnivores the right to eat meat.. I think It's great that many people have choices. But keep in mind while sipping almond milk ,or eating gluten free tofu organic seaweed that people around the world are starving.

Very sad and disheartening. Goats have an immense value in farming- they can clear land in very little time and leave it well fertilized. Of course some of them end up as food for wolfes, coyotes and Eagles, but that’s nature. The Netherlands has a tradition of Tolerance and Freedom - perhaps just set the goats free and let nature decide their faith.

Guys this video has opened my eyes to the truth, we must ask for those baby goats in those farms and rise them in our farms so when they have age we can kill them and sell their meat. That way they will not die being a waste product, baby goats deserve to be a product too

No, that would be much better for the environment, animals AND people's health. Milk isn't good for you.
You can make your own "almond" milk from numerous seeds, not only almonds. For example: sunflower seeds, nuts, etc.
The nut juices are very little nut content and full of other things. A massive, massive amount of growing, tending crops, including chemicals, processing, adding some vitamins, not all things.
There is hazelnut milk, oat milk and coconut alternatives, as well as soya, been drinking these in tea and coffee, as well as on cerial for about 10 years now, and much prefer them to dairy for a number of reasons
