Love this breed of horse
This is my favorite video of Unique. Now she's with Star.
😇⭐🐎🐴
The sight of that mother horse licking her dead baby in a desperate attempt to give him life was the saddest thing I've ever seen. I hope these two have a great life together.
It broke my heart too
It broke my heart too...
Broke my heart too but at the same time, happy for you, you haven't seen sadder moments in your life then this.
"this little guy is one hard sleeper"
Grown man in my 60's crying my eyes out.
She was like "Where is my baby?" And you bring the foal and she's like "Oh, there he is! He looks different, but he's mine!"
Oh, yes! She is like...mine, mine, mine! And doing her happy dance!

Amazing.
A new life
I hope Ziffora (mom) is having the same joy with Star across the rainbow bridge. 🌈🐴🐎
I came to the comments to suggest the name Ziffora; if they have any more fillies this year!
this comment slapped me square in the face 😢 I imagined Star getting a mommy in heaven just like Uni got a baby on earth.
what a nice thought. =)
Who’s chopping onions around here? I’m not crying! 😭
They're together now and Ziffora is looking after Star. Ziffora knows her baby boy is with Star's mama.
She claimed him as hers the minute she saw him. That's her son. She even announced it to the rest of the stables. "My child is here! He is handsome and healthy! Look at my beautiful son!" Uniek wanted to be a momma no matter what. Through their sorrow they found family. She's an amazing mama. Be at peace, Star. Thank you for looking out for Rising Star like this.
i love this comment!! so beautifully put. ❤❤❤
I’d like to think that Rising Star’s mother is taking care of Star in heaven.

Oh dear Uniek, I had to come watch again after yesterday's heartbreaking news. 😔 This video brought me to the Friesian Horses channel almost three years ago, and I will always remember you this way, filled with joy at the sight of your little boy Rising Star. RIP beautiful Queen 👑💔

It was a beautiful natural piaffe, wasn’t it? We are so lucky to see such a thing.

She has no choice. She's being forced either way. Lots of editing. She definitely knows that's not her baby but she is doing the right thing. Almost all mammal mothers will take on an adopted child of they don't have theirs.

I was the same way. I was okay until I seen mom trying to wake him up, that brought tears to my eyes. I have a hobby farm and death is a fact of life, so I was caught by surprise when the tears started to flow 😥
I found this video to be very moving and I was in tears when the goal died.
Such joy then when a new foal was introduced and was accepted. Thank you for sharing this heart warming video. ❤❤❤❤

and for his new sibling
I think she knows he’s not her baby, but she has such good instincts that she wants him anyway ❤️ She also clearly trusts you guys so much to allow you all to handle her and her new baby. I love it!
She probably does but she lost her own and she's been a mum before and just wanted her baby
@Ariel 9977 It's not true. You touching a chick is not going to mask the animal's scent so entirely that its parent can't identify it. It's a myth that was conjured up to convince people to stop interfering with wildlife.
If a cat that lost her kittens can accept pups or ducklings, then a horse mothering over another mare’s foal isn’t such a big leap.
I'm concerned that this mare seems to be over grooming the colt, a sign not good from foster or natural mom. It could be a sign of stress
@@vetpaula I agree she knows, but some animals are just more motherly.
Idk how it's with horses, i do know fosters happen - but with cows there are always a few who try steal every calf they get their hooves on. I have one now (dairy farm so calves don't stay more than few days) so if cow that calved is hostile towards the calf, I'll bring the Grand Old Lady to babysit.
Watching this again 😢😢 I just can't believe Uniek is now passed😓😓😓🖤🪽
Looking back, it is so special that Uniek quickly became protective of her baby. She didn't care that he was a bit different. He was her baby.
And somewhere in heaven, a grey mare is taking care of a black colt...

Hi, I'm spreading the Gospel around in much love ❤️
Have faith in JESUS CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOR for HE SAVES from hell❗️
*What is the Gospel?*
The true gospel is the good news that God saves sinners. Man is by nature sinful and separated from God with no hope of remedying that situation. But God, by His power, provided the means of man’s redemption in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of GOD, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Romans 10:9
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
JESUS CHRIST can come anytime!
Just Believe ❤️ Love you and GOD BLESS

Words cannot express the heartbreak I feel after hearing about Queen Uniek's passing. My heart didn't want to accept it. Alas, such is the reality of the world.
It was this video that made me subscribe two years ago. My mother had just passed away a few months prior and I was in a state of major depression: didn't want to get out of bed, had no desire to take care of myself, I just wanted to rot away and fade from existence. It was during the night that I saw this video pop up on my recommended feed, and I am so glad I clicked on it. This channel helped me get through one of the worst times of my life, and I am forever grateful for it.
Queen Uniek is forever immortalized on the internet. Loved by many, she will never be forgotten.
She's truly a great mare. What a great way to turn an unfortunate accident for both horses into something better. It'll be nice if everyone was so kind
I agree with you so much, it would be so nice if everyone was as kind and accepting as Queen Uniek. The world could certainly learn so very much from her and from Janet and Yvonne. These 2 women came together with a simple but grand solution. Diplomacy at its finest, as they say, a win win!
My response would be not just stroke the mare but to hold and cuddle her and to use soft towels as well. Different human cultures.

The fact that you guys didn’t even need to cover Rising Star with something that had the scent of Uniek or her foal & she completely accepted him anyway is truly incredible 🥹💖
I know they tried to do that, but the fact that they ended up not needing to at all was why I thought it was even more amazing.
Hey DonnaScarpa, are you new in this community? If it is so, you could see more videos. You'll soon find out:
In this "herd" everything comes up to trust, respect and love. Yvonne has no need to fake something or leave something out. It was as simple as she told us: They tried but couldn't find the afterbirth. After all they took the risk of introducing Rising Star as he was and it went well. That's wonderful and we are so happy about the story of Uniek and Rising Star!

same here. me as an adopted child cried by seeing this. this mother and child were meant to be.
Not all moms, unfortunately. You are very lucky to have had such a loving mother. I was an unexpected, unwanted and unloved child and, of course, it has colored my entire life. I often wish that she had just put me up for adoption so that a loving woman, someone who wanted to love and nurture me, could have raised me.
My son was adopted. When he was young, we explained that some children need a mom and some moms need a child and adoption brings them together.

@Guided VisionWhat does that have to do with this amazing story of 2 hurting souls needing each other & then the beautiful way that this little boy's mother explained his adoption ?

They both somehow knew that they need each other. Her needs her milk and protection and she needs him to care for. And they both need each other to heal from the loses they had.
Uniek really wants to be a mom.
My thoughts exactly.
Beautifully said
Uniek and the other Friesians will also show him how to move like a dressage horse. Movement is part conformation, part instinctive and (interesting to this dog trainer) part learned. So if you have an orphaned Thoroughbred foal, ideal is to find a Thoroughbred foster mare so that the foal learns to move like a race horse. And if you have a warmblood/dressage horse, a Friesian is an ideal foster mother to teach him to move big, like a dressage horse.
Training can shape movement but having the good fortunate of finding a foster mare who moves the way you want the foal to move lets the foal get a half step forward from the very beginning.
So very many blessings from two tragedies.

Foals.calves/lambs are less picky than the mothers are.
My mare had twins and, as is so common with twins, they both died. I put the word out and before 24 hours passed, I had news of a foal who needed fostering. I took the mare there and my girl just said "a live one! For me? Thank you". She grew her adoptive baby into a fine young colt. It's amazing how strong their need to mother is.

So sorry for your loss but happy for the foal and mare.

Euh....Twins ? why continue the pregnancy? Twins is very dangerous for the mother. It is normal to terminate the pregnancy as soon as possible to save the mother ... for that also it is necessary to follow the gestation from the beginning...

@@aprilsmith9210 hello beautiful good day to you how are you doing today I hope you are doing well?
@@aprilsmith9210 God bless you today and always. I pray that every day be filled with happiness and hope. That as you go through your days, you know happiness and love. That everything in your life turns out for good, because God has His hand on you.
The timing of this meeting was pivotal. The postpartum hormones were still abundant in the mother. I'm glad it worked out.

His little tail waging is everything, horses are amazing animals. I don't know what we did to have them in our lives but we are so blessed too. ❤
I won't lie; I teared up when she called to him. What a good momma!
@Lana Rhodes I hate to say this,
Lana, but I agree with you!
I try very hard to keep in mind the
GOOD in many many ppl.
It does help me to do that!
Ppl have turned away from God,
and even though animals are not "supposed" to have souls, I feel animals, somehow, have GOD IN THEM. I think this video proves that! I truly love animals to the bottom of my soul. Try to see THE GOOD, Lana, focusing on it.
The evil in this world comes from many turning FROM Our Creator. Jesus tells us we MUST pray for them....very difficult to do, but if we can change many, maybe the world will turn around. I do pray to "unmask the evildoers and bring them to justice, please, Lord." But then pray, "Please have the evildoers see the error of their ways!"
One final thought....
"IF MY PEOPLE COME TO ME HUMBLY IN PRAYER AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS I WILL HEAL THEIR LAND."
....frm The Good Book.....
God Bless You and Yours, Lana!
So good meeting you on this particular video bc it is priceless!
@@pamelarandlov1735 True, true. But difficult indeed.

The second worst situation every horse owner dreads: Losing the mare or the foal. Losing both the mare and foal is the absolute worst.
It is so fortunate you were able to have something beautiful created from two tragedies.
Agreed :)
After watching you last post I had to go back and watch when the world was introduced to Rising Star ❤😢
50 years ago or more, my mare had a stillborn. The trader said very rare for a mare to adopt a foal from another. He brought the filly over. We tied Smokey's halter to the rafter, had to tie up one of her hind legs, according to the horse trader and spray cologne on the filly rump and put some on Smokey's muzzle. After a few days, the two were inseparable. I'm glad to see, your success
Oh my goodness, When she was eating just after she lost Star I thought "oh well at least she's not sad" but wow when she sees the little baby boy she got so excited and you realise how much she was waiting for him to come back to her
She probably had nothing to eat on the day of Star's birth, so it was necessary for her to eat.
@@christinerobinson9372 some animals dos´t seem affected in the slightes if their Babys die, some are so affected that they starve them self to death. Both sides happen in Nature. So it is not a matter of course that she eats again straight away.
@@ATypiclaNPC For an animal as large as a horse, whose food is a low source of energy, it is a matter of course that she must eat again soon after the loss. Animals that don't seem to mourn the loss of babies (and I don't assume that they don't mourn because they don't show emotion as we do) are usually ones that have large litters multiple times, and they seem to love their babies as a group, not as individuals. So a dog that has a litter of six or eight puppies seems not to notice that one didn't make it. She still has all the others to worry about and protect. A dog that gave birth to one or two puppies and loses them both definitely shows behavior we can understand as mourning. An animal who gave birth to one baby, a baby that she carried for many more months than a cat or dog, may be more likely to mourn that loss. Losing an only baby is much more noticeable than losing one of eight babies. Even so, how do we humans know whether or not she is mourning when her very large body requires food, so she eats? Add the fact that although she is a large and powerful animal, she is still a predated animal and she must move on to protect herself. But look at Unieks body language when she hears and sees that baby being brought to her. It is very clear that she is filled with joy.
@@christinerobinson9372 oh sorry i think u got me slightly wrong there 😅
I actually wanted to take 2 of the probably biggest opposite reactions that can occur and thought it was obvious that there are all the variations in between. And I'm assuming that animals don't feel so dissimilar to us, maybe not that conscious but similar. But that just my guess, but i know that it is a fact that animals do feel. And even something or more like especialy something like "mother-love" (idk if there is a actual english version of this word), is a nature given Thing.
@@ATypiclaNPC My apologies, I did understand your point but felt the need to mom-splain it. I wanted to point out the "why" of the different reactions of animals who birth litters and those who birth a single baby. And I am incapable of 'splaining in less than one hundred words. Got it from my mother, who could let you know what you did wrong for three days without pausing for breath!😉
And Rising Star’s Mom is taking care of Unieks little baby foal up in heaven
The circle of life.
Ahhhhhhh that made my day 🥺❤️
Why is this not the top comment!! 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥰🥰🥰🥰
Now im crying 😭
What a happy thought! Thank you for making my day.
How many are watching after sweet Uniek has joined her last baby Star in heaven?
The beginning of an amazing story ❤
Uniek...one-of-a-kind❤Such a sweet, beautiful Queen! Rest in paradise with your little Star❤
Uniek’s ears relax. As soon as his nursing relieves some of the tension in her udder❤❤❤❤
Seeing Uniek prancing when she sees RS for the first time, is priceless.
She even points with her hoof almost as if she is saying "bring him closer please i love him!"
Right after her Happy Dance, Uniek taps her front left hoof a few times as if she saying "I want my boy right here, right now".💙💙💙
The queen is demanding her son😁
When foaling it’s best to create a “hot bed” which is a mixture of bedding and the mares fresh manure,it’s called a hot bed because it provides warmth and a soft landing, zoos use it for animals such as giraffes to soften the 5ft drop so it really is a good birthing bed.
I’m so sorry for your loss, star was such a beautiful foal, mama did well,it’s so amazing to see her get a second chance 🤗😍🙏
Every time I watch this it still brings tears to my eyes. But the joyful reaction of Unique dancing at the sight of the foal and their love for each other, heals all sadness. Truly a miracle. Blessings to all.
Beautifully dealt with: the sad but gentle goodbye she had with her own colt and the gentle, controlled introduction to her foster foal.
So much gentler than how hospitals used to treat stillbirths. 💕
@@restoretheearth2829 back in the day parents would never have even seen or held their dear dead child. I’m so impressed by the humanity shown to this desolate mother
