This was the very first Ponderosa we went to for breakfast. It was $2.99 in those days! I remember asking for Tea and the server asking if I was having anything else from the buffet. When I said I wasn't a breakfast person and Tea was all I needed she said, tea's on me! She then brought me some toast. All gratis! Happy memories!
Oooooo, this brings back memories. I ate at the Ponderosa next to the old Wet’n’Wild and opposite the old Rodeway Inn hotel (now the Continental Plaza) on I-Drive religiously. My first time was 1996. I just couldn’t believe how cheap it was and how good it was. I am sure they did an all you could eat ice cream dessert. It was always a good, cheap place to eat after a day at Disney or Universal. Remembering some great times back in the 90’s
Did every day for breakfast at ponderosa on our two week Disney I drive stay. Our lovely server was called Abel. He brought fresh toast and coffee to the table. Sat us away from people. I loved every minute.
There are 5 Ponderosas still operating in Michigan. The location that we visit, which is the one closest to us, is an hour and ten minute trip and it is well worth it.
First of all, I want to say I just love you guys! You’re so natural, and to this Canadian, I like the vibe you give off. My daughter and I are planning a mother-daughter trip soon (I’m 57, she’s 21), so your I-Trolley video first popped up on my feed since our hotel is on International Drive. Then this Ponderosa video caught my eye, and brought back fond memories of visiting with my mom and dad when I was a child. You’ve got a fan here!
That was the exact Ponderosa we used to go to on our last florida visit in 2017 I'm glad it's still open . I bought many souvenirs out of that shop thanks for bringing back good memories 👍
We used to go to one on I-Drive - probably about 23 years ago. I remember enjoying the Tex-Mex buffet. It was pretty cheap at the time and always had queues outside. We also found a similar one - think it was called Sizzlers, that had a good salad bar. Think we then moved onto Golden Corral on later trips, but then after coming across a bad hygiene experience in their toilets, I couldn’t go back again 😂. Sweet Tomatoes was always my favourite buffet - such a shame they went under.
Such nostalgia. We used to go on Tuesdays for the special. A family of seven it was areal treat. And in high school we went and thought we were rich kids, lol. I wish you could still buy the Ponderosa sauce and buns.
From the UK and went on holiday to Florida in the early 2000s. Going into a Pondersoa, and seeing the variety of food, fizzy drinks, and sensible prices was amazing. They had ice cream, all colours of jelly you could imagine, even blue! skinless fennel sausages, bacon cubes, hash browns, eggs, chicken strips, fries, rice, bacon, pepsi, root beer, coffee. As someone who grew up in the UK, where food is pretty abysmal, it felt like going 100 years into the future!! The older I get, the more I relaize that what I consider to be futuristic, and exciting (big, cheap, tasty food, neon lights, big american saloon cars, cheap petrol) is actually USA from the past!! haha
So many good memories at this exact Ponderosa, all through the 90s, breakfast was always better than dinner, visiting next year, hope we can have one last meal before it shuts 😢
I’m always late… God we miss Ponderosa.. I remember when it was $6.99 and add a Chopped Steak for $5. Lol. Those coffee mugs looked like they’ve been there as long as the building lol
We went to this Ponderosa a few years ago when we were at Disney World, which is right around the corner. It was OK, but definitely not the Ponderosa of its heyday. The buffet was meatless when we were there.
I remember going to that Ponderosa and Bargain World on my trips there. Looks like it has not changed a bit. Nowadays we prefer Ichiban Chinese Buffett down there.
Thank you so much Barry and Maxine for visiting our favourite place for breakfast when we used to visit Orlando, twenty years ago was when we first went and we also loved Sizzlers which was right by the Rosen inn at pointe orlando hotel where we stayed,we are going back from the 5th to the 19th of October this year on our own this time !!! we love all your vlogs so keep up the great work
My dad used to bring us there sometimes. In Michigan …I thought we were living high off the hog but it turns out he was just cheap. And liked a good bargain. Happy Father’s Day daddy I love you
Used to absolutely love the ponderosa!!! The buffet was outstanding! We used to have both the buffet and a meal and be completely stuffed after! So glad you found one! Nice to look back! 🥰👍
Oh wow! This brings back memories of my trips in the 90s. I instantly recognised the photographs of the food as you go into the restaurant. Trips to The Ponderosa, Sports Dominator, Bargain World & Pirates Cove Mini Golf is usually how we spent our evenings in Orlando (when the parks used to close a lot earlier than they do now). Hopefully The Ponderosa will survive long enough for our trip next year.
Me and my partner have followed your journey all year .... Finally jetting off to Orlando from Manchester in 2 weeks and your videos have helped us so much for ideas etc. Thankyou Bazza and Mrs Bazza :)
Used to love this place when the kids were little. $9.99 each for the evening buffet and the kids ate free as we always had the 'kids eat free' card. Bargain!! Thanks for the happy memories xx
We used to go to Pondarosa and Sizzler back in the day .... We went to Florida in 2019 & came accross this one you are in now & like you we went in to check & for memories & we had a nice meal to be fair xx
We first saw Ponderosa Restaurant like you back in 1994 but to be fair we didn't use them till our 2nd visit in '98 because on the first trip we were royally fed each morning at Give Kids the World on Bass Road. Another chain going at that time was Western Sizzlin' and there was one opposite Old Town across from the Denny's which still exists today. Thanks for the memories you two, it certainly brought some back.
This is def the ponderosa I visited on my first visit to florida I 2002..Great memories ..coming for my 7th visit on November 1st..can't wait..May even pay them a visit
We started visiting Orlando (from the UK) in 1988. Before we started staying on Disney property in 1997, we always stayed in what was 'Las Palmas Inn', 6233 International Drive (it's had a few names since then, think it is called 'Monumental Movieland Hotel' now). This was directly over the road from Wet’n’Wild. Back in the day, Las Palmas was a lovely little hotel and we have wonderful memories of dining at Ponderosa on many occasions. It was normally Sizzler for breakfast and Ponderosa for an evening meal (when we were not in the Parks of course). Really enjoyed eating at both. Great video guys!
We went back in May for nostalgia purposes and came away feeling the same, that it was ok but not the same as it used to be! Although nice to know the ice cream machine still hasn't been fixed since then 🙈🤣
We used to eat at the Ponderosa on I drive every time we visited Orlando. I’d do the same as you fill the kids up before we’d get to the parks! We’re in Orlando now and visited Golden Corral for a buffet fix 😊
Fantastic vlog, thank you for the memories of two great holidays in Orlando with the children back in 92 and 98. Cannot believe it is the exact Ponderosa we used everyday for breakfast buffet, used to keep us going all day, and always exited through the gift shop.
Hi, we remember Ponderosa, our first trip to Florida was in 1993, we stayed in the Days Inn. We also liked Sizzler, is that still open? Oh happy days. An enjoyable vlog, look forward to the next. We are currently staying on the gulf Coast in Bradenton, we love it here. Love AMI and dipping in and out of the water, just bliss. Take care, Susan xx
Blimey I remember going there, last time was 2000 and that was the one . I do remember they had a few here in the uk in the early 90s. I went into the one in Chester and then a few years later went to Florida for the first time and really enjoyed going into the Ponderosa. I used to enjoy a restaurant in kissimmee that was called Stacey’s another all u can eat buffet. Really enjoy your videos certainly helping to plan my next trip after 22 years .
Ate there while in Florida for 3 weeks and had a terrible experience. Food was bland and was very expensive$87 for 3 for dinner. The waitress told us we had 3 minutes until the dessert part closed when we went it was actually closed!! Our friends that have been going there for 20 years will never return.
This was a treat for us back in the day in Pennsylvania. We had 1 in my hometown and one 2 towns over. Last one I was at was on I drive. We also had Bonaza, which was a smidge of an upgraded Ponderosa. Thanks for bringing back some great memories!
Hello my name is Colin Mitchell from England Guildford Surrey The Frist time I went to Florida was back in 1992 and that was my second day there I went to that ponderosa and I keep going there each time I was there my Miele was Selwyn tips and had a good time there each time we went there great food and service all the time my last time there was back in 2007 have not be back to Florida would love to get back there one day as so much has change thank you for going there it brought back good memories
It was good seeing a Ponderosa after a while. First in one with family 1992 at international drive and we all loved it. Myself and my wife love your vlogs keep up the good 👍
Hi great video this took us back to 1996 first time to Orlando staying on international drive every morning we went to Ponderosa Dougie was the meet and greet on frontdesk across from Pirates cove every morning he asked our son who was 4 at the time have you been to see Mickey yet. We loved it then exist via the shop just like you did. We are back in November so hopefully Ponderosa will still be open We will re live some memories. Thanks Bazza and Mrs Bazza certainly took us back. Xxxx
we've been going to Florida since the 90s our parents would take us to sizzler or ponderosa nearly everyday before going to the parks aswell. interesting how we all do the same things lol. we haven't been to Orlando since 2018 thanks to the pandemic. will be going next September finally. this brings back so may memories that I honestly didn't appreciate as a kid.
Really enjoying these videos....discovered your channel through the lodge guys. Love florida been every year since 97, with exemption to 2020 and 2021. Remember ponderosa and its a shame that there is one remaining. I found a similar situation with Sonny's I think there is only 1 on 192 near St Cloud (I think). Totally agree with you on tipping, just got to respect their culture. Very remonicinant though. Thanks for the video.
We used to love going for breakfast with the kids, thought it was gone forever. Totally agree we should keep it going. The kids loved Sizzler too. Ah the memories.
Oh boy this took me right back to 'April of 2000' when we first visited florida, we ate there alot,we thought it was amazing value. A little bit of nostalgia is good for the soul and I'm so delighted to see there's still one open for business. 😊 xx
Apart from Busch Gardens the only name I remember from Florida when I was taken there as an 11 year old kid is Ponderosa and it's because I could eat as much bacon and ice cream I wanted at 9am haha
@@ThemeParkBazza We are lucky to have enjoyed such times, thanks for the video, I really enjoyed watching it - I think the only things I saw that were from the era I dined there were the pictures of menu items on the wall when you first went into the restaurant.
A child of ten, never had a char-grilled [broiled] anything. A baked potato was a rarity and I was eating it nearly every night for a fortnight. The biggest discoveries of ten year old me though were 1] blue jelly exists 2] there is only so much blue jelly you can eat before your body says no. What a place. Disney. Pool. Ponderosa. Pirates cove. Bed. Choking on nostalgia right now
@@ThemeParkBazza Not going to lie, I'm convinced the blue goo put me off my game that night at Pirates Cove. Then again, after 5 bowls (it was all you can eat, c'mon...) it's not a surprise
Only ever been to one Ponderosa in the Lake Buena Vista area on our first visit. It's a shame there is only one left in Florida. We enjoyed visiting on our first-ever Florida trip. Great video, we all enjoyed it. Stay safe and well
Always went there for the breakfast with the children before going to the parks fill them up very cheap and good value and the staff always very helpful thanks for the information will try and visit it again later this year now i know still one open thanks for the information
That was the first place I ate at when I went to Florida over 30 years ago..the one on international drive..it went years ago was gutted when it closed down..great value for money..keep up the vlogs..love em.. 👍😀
wow always loved the show dan was my mother’s favorite character and she thought he was the funniest character ever and a great actor and his sons live on
I remember going to one on our first visit to Florida. I think it is where I had a jacket potato completely loaded up unlike what you used to get here in the US. That and salad as I was a picky eater as a kid. I'd want to try it all now!
I remember going to the ponderosa in the 90s and it was heaving, we had to wait in line with about 100 people, we went back a few years ago, sad to see it's decline, although there was a waitress called Pingu who was amazing and did her best to make our son blush , great video 📹
Loved the Ponderosa in the 90s great breakfast buffet filled us up for the day before going to the parks. Went back in 2019 to the one on 192 just for a touch of nostalgia - decor still the same
I remember visiting various Ponderosa outlets in Florida - including this one - in the 90’s and they were always packed with Brits and hardly any empty seats. The queues were often out of the door in those days, how times have changed - I hope they manage to keep going
I think on our first holidays to Orlando back in the 90’s we spent EVERY morning having breakfast at the Ponderosa as did all other Brits ! Remember it being $3.99, even cheaper with a coupon 😃. Did once try a Sizzler but wasn’t as good. Then checking out gift shops next door like you did 😄.
Takes me back as you say to when we first went in 97,99. Sizzler for brekkie and Ponderosa for tea. Great choices. I think only Golden Corral left now as a buffet although not been back for 15 years.
A bit off topic but when you came back from UK to Orlando did you use a taxi to pick you up from the airport and are there any taxi companies you or your friends have had good luck with in Orlando. Thanks for the tip. Any what a great video! I had no idea there any Ponderosa's still left.
This brings back so many memories for me back in 1998 we went here every morning to eat before going to the parks my dad would say fill up because im not buying lunch in the parks ha ha
Remember going here as a kid multiple times per trip! The chicken wings were incredible! Noticed last time we were in the US (2017 I think) that they had closed so many of them and the buffet wasn’t half as good as it used to be. Funnily enough that’s the exact Ponderosa I went to!
Awww ponderosa was the first place I ever ate in florida. I was 18 on my first ever holiday with my sister. It was the one by the rosen inn at point and we was to scared to cross the road so wandered into there 😅Only had $500 with me. Had the time of my life still my favourite trip and have been again many more times. X
Anyone remember Las Vegas Buffet on hwy 192 in early 90s.......when you entered remember that smell........ we went to ponda once, sizzler for breakfast liked the meat in soft tacos... if you went in September alot of the theme park rides were walk on, less we dropped lucky back then...
Holy retro decor Batman! 😉 ICYMI: Burger "week" returns September 14-28. Yes, that's TWO weeks but it is Floriduh, right. $7 burgers -- Hard Rock Café and American Social look good...
Hi 👋🏼, those were tostones (fried green plantains). They are better freshly made, if you can try mofongo (smashed green plantains) is delicious. Love your videos!!!
Ah, Ponderosa. THE traditional first morning breakfast when arriving in Orlando in the 90s/early 2000s. Cheap as chips and meant no complaints from young to old as you could literally have ANYTHING for breakfast. One thing that has not changed... The Coffee cups! Exactly the same now as they were back then
In 2013 we went into a place called Woodrows Grill, on I drive, a I trolley driver recommended it, all you can eat buffet, I think it was about $13.00 a head and drinks on top, it was very similar to this Ponderosa, but alas when we went back in 2018 it was gone. :(
This was the very first Ponderosa we went to for breakfast. It was $2.99 in those days! I remember asking for Tea and the server asking if I was having anything else from the buffet. When I said I wasn't a breakfast person and Tea was all I needed she said, tea's on me! She then brought me some toast. All gratis! Happy memories!
Happy Times. I remember this was our 1st ever eating place when we landed on our 1st trip. Loved it. How its changed now. Still prefer GC

I remember that one, 2008 crossing road from our hotel, Rodeway Inn 😀😀
Wow. We used to go to Ponderosa all the time, for Breakfast when we visited as kids. Great nostalgia. Although $16.99 for buffet seems steep!
Love the old fashioned look of it still 👍🏻👍🏻
Used to be our favourite place when we first started going to Florida. Stuff ourselves silly on breakfast then feel ill all morning in the parks.
Obviously jelly for breakfast will make u sick 😃😃
I can relate to this!!!! ❤

Yes Eric, it brought back a lot of memories for us as well
Ha ha that getaway chicken wing gave me a good laugh 🤣🤣
Loved to go here every morning before the parks. Belly full and away we went 😘
From the UK and went on holiday to Florida in the early 2000s.
Going into a Pondersoa, and seeing the variety of food, fizzy drinks, and sensible prices was amazing.

It was a different time, and place for sure, but we still have the memories
So many good memories at this exact Ponderosa, all through the 90s, breakfast was always better than dinner, visiting next year, hope we can have one last meal before it shuts 😢

Always went there for the breakfast with the children before going to the parks fill them up very cheap and good value and the staff always very helpful thanks for the information will try and visit it again later this year now i know still one open thanks for the information
Wow that brings back some memories. Thanks for sharing.
That was the first place I ate at when I went to Florida over 30 years ago..the one on international drive..it went years ago was gutted when it closed down..great value for money..keep up the vlogs..love em.. 👍😀
Just returned from a 3 week visit. We searched out this last Ponderosa and went twice during our visit. No complaints here 👌
wow always loved the show dan was my mother’s favorite character and she thought he was the funniest character ever and a great actor and his sons live on
That’s great
I remember going to one on our first visit to Florida. I think it is where I had a jacket potato completely loaded up unlike what you used to get here in the US. That and salad as I was a picky eater as a kid. I'd want to try it all now!
The Connecticut town where I grew up had a Ponderosa, a Bonanza and the next town over had a Beefsteak Charlie's (all the free shrimp you could eat!)
I remember going to the ponderosa in the 90s and it was heaving, we had to wait in line with about 100 people, we went back a few years ago, sad to see it's decline, although there was a waitress called Pingu who was amazing and did her best to make our son blush , great video 📹
It’s a plantain haha! Gotta get you guys to try some good Cuban food (I’m Cuban btw) in Orlando! Love you both!
Impressed you worked that out from my description
@@ThemeParkBazza I didn’t see the vid description, what did I miss? (Going back to read it)
LoL at you trying to eat those wings 😅 that mash looked yummy love a good buttery creamy mash
Loved the Ponderosa in the 90s great breakfast buffet filled us up for the day before going to the parks. Went back in 2019 to the one on 192 just for a touch of nostalgia - decor still the same
I like the promotional video!!
I remember Ponderosa in Moncton New-Brunswick!
We only use Uber or Lyft to get around when not driving
@@ThemeParkBazza Thank you very much. Wishing you and Maxine a great weekend!
loved that place as a kid, thanks for the memories
On our first two visits to Orlando in 1996 & 2000, we lived in Ponderosa, it was great value and the food wasn't bad at all, Breakfasts & Dinners.
Used to love a Ponderosa buffet and it didn’t look too bad I must say. How much more expensive is it compared with Golden Coral please?
About the same price as GC
That’s a really nice one
Brings back holiday memories used to fill up here before the parks to avoid crazy park food prices remember the Mexican eggs 🥚 (scrambled)
That commercial has my city Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada!!! Miss it...I love Ed the salad bar!
I was just there last week during my Disney World trip, great food and great times.
Great memories
Anyone remember Las Vegas Buffet on hwy 192 in early 90s.......when you entered remember that smell........ we went to ponda once, sizzler for breakfast liked the meat in soft tacos... if you went in September alot of the theme park rides were walk on, less we dropped lucky back then...
Just love watching your videos, many thanks
Thank You
Wow I love ponderosa I hope it’s still there when I come back next year
It was still open last week
We used to love ponderosa, they where always busy so don’t understand why they closed, please try it for breakfast.
Holy retro decor Batman! 😉
ICYMI: Burger "week" returns September 14-28. Yes, that's TWO weeks but it is Floriduh, right. $7 burgers -- Hard Rock Café and American Social look good...
Good to know !
We always had a few meals at the Ponderosa and never had a bad one.
Hi 👋🏼, those were tostones (fried green plantains). They are better freshly made, if you can try mofongo (smashed green plantains) is delicious. Love your videos!!!
We went to the same 1 5 years ago for breakfast might try it this time when we come over in 5 weeks time
Ah, Ponderosa. THE traditional first morning breakfast when arriving in Orlando in the 90s/early 2000s. Cheap as chips and meant no complaints from young to old as you could literally have ANYTHING for breakfast.
One thing that has not changed... The Coffee cups! Exactly the same now as they were back then
This was the first place i ate in florida was breakfast at ponderosa it was $1.99 eat as much as you like lol
Love ponderosa!!!!
In 2013 we went into a place called Woodrows Grill, on I drive, a I trolley driver recommended it, all you can eat buffet, I think it was about $13.00 a head and drinks on top, it was very similar to this Ponderosa, but alas when we went back in 2018 it was gone. :(
