Will you stop. Haley recorded 3 songs that day, creep, All About That Bass and back up vocals on a third. She was ‘tired’ from a week’s worth of touring on the road as soon as she arrived. She confirmed that in a recent interview she thought not being 100% made her reach deeper for emotion that came through in the performance. Haley has NEVER needed to be persuaded to sing. LOVED anticipating your genuine reactions as many of the little surprises in this song were coming up. This is, in my opinion, one of the two greatest covers of all time. The other being Johnny Cash covering NiN's Hurt. I've watched both hundreds of time and never fail to tear up as both are just such emotional bombs. I realize Scott Bradlee arranged this, but I suspect Haley had a lot of input as well. She is clearly a talented arranger herself as evidenced by several of the songs she did on AI. I believe that was the first season where I really started to watch AI, and it was filled with interesting performances. What she did with Elton John's Benny and the Jets on that show was masterful as well, and worth looking for if you haven't watched it. You have a new subscriber. Looking forward to going back through your catalog, and maybe even making a few suggestions.

All the PMJ songs are well done. You can't go wrong with any of them. Haley is in many. But their cover of Aerosmith's 'Dream On' will give you chills. It's different singer named Morgan James (who also teams up w/ Haley in their cover of 'All About That Bass').
Recent find myself, a back catalogue well worth investigating. “Don’t speak” and “All about the base” are two of my favourites but this one is phenomenal.
vocalocity...it's like being hit by a speeding vocal punch. Haley just full of awesomeness. Displaying 13 of the 9 human vocal techniques. Always have to watch what Haley does with her eyes, hands, body motions; she can truly tale a story just with her performance. " Black Hole Sun", "Love Fool", "Don't Speak", "Seven Nation Army", "Oops I Did it Again" all with Haley and PMJ. PMJ uses several fantastic singers with other songs but Haley and one Morgan James are my favs. (Morgan and PMJ "Dream On") Great reaction here man!
PMJ brought us Haley, Morgan James and many more wonderful vocalists.......Scott Bradlee, the pianist, does the arrangements and the band is top notch ! .......... straight outta 1950's Tin Pan Alley
Haley is amazing! She has done a number of songs with PMJ. I would suggest the next one to check out would be Don’t Speak. When she performs with Casey Abrams (co-contestant on AI), they make magic happen! Her rendition of I Who Have Nothing on AI was chilling. She was treated badly by AI.
Any PMJ with Haley or Morgan James is a MUST HEAR! Haley did a cover of No Doubt's "don't speak" w/ PMJ, 7 nation army, its all about he bass (w/ Morgan) you MUST see Morgan do DREAM ON w/ PMJ.
Your my new fav reactor!! Can only say welcome to Haleyville! Long time for me, I was there at first American Audition. On PMJ again welcome to growing crowd. Maybe see PMJ "BYE BYE BYE" a good springboard into the Pinnacle studio regulars.
Haley IS Jessica Rabbit! While touring with PMJ in 2015, she recorded 7 or 8 videos. PMJ's specialty is recasting modern songs in a style that was popular during the mid 20th century. Your follow-up reaction should be their reinvention ("cover" doesn't describe what Scott Bradlee does with a song!) of The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" ( ruclips.net/video/sB6HY8r983c/видео.html ). This one's done in the style of a New Orleans dirge. ---------- PMJ uses many vocalists and draws musicians (mostly acoustic) from a pool of excellent performers...so every video has a different feel to it. The only thing you can count on is that the end result will be fascinating! PMJ's restylings are SO different from the originals that it's a good idea to go back and listen to the original before discovering what PMJ does to it!
Haley was on the 10th season of American Idol. It was also the season where everyone realized the results for every season were fixed ahead of time. She was clearly the best performer but was constantly sabotaged by the judges to knock her out of the competition.
Oh sir, wait until you hear the PMJ Haley Reinhart cover of Seven Nation Army… 👀 I never appreciated this White Stripes song until this version - hope you’ll consider reacting to it. Haley and this band and arrangement are too good! Subbing in anticipation 😊
I had a similar reaction, Larry. Haley Reinhart has the kind of definitive musical vision for a song that one sees in Angelina Jordan or Frank Sinatra. The arrangement is killer as well. Radiohead did well in writing this song, and their version is great, but this is my definitive version. Great reaction LH!
Ok so I loved her on American idol. When she didn’t win I almost quit watching lol. But I’ve kinda followed her ever since. She is fantastic. I’ve got a girl crush for sure. I could listen to pmj all day. This is a fun rabbit hole. Enjoy.
You also absolutely have to react to Morgan James doing Dream On with PMJ. You, my friend, are definitely going to have to go down the whole PMJ catalog rabbit hole. :)
This is my current audio obsession. I've literally looked up dozens of reactions to this song and I never get tired of hearing it. I love Radiohead, but Haley and PMJ made this song their own. There is no comparison.
My favorite moment with everyone is at 9:00 -- everybody is blown away by her belting, and expects that to be it, but then she keeps going and people's brains just can't process it.
examples of female singers with rasp , janis joplin , stevie nicks , bonnie tyler,, just a few of many ! and there have been a lot , haley is one of them , the elite!
also what is even more impressive is that this masterpiece was actually completed in one take with a tired voice and all but one of the postmodern jukebox covers are done live with no auto-tune, etc more info in links below: here is the history of "creep" one take from scott bradlee (the creator and pianist from postmodern jukebox): ruclips.net/video/MskKSH1Kf4U/видео.html. here is additional history on haley and "creep" from #1 fan haleyTusk (even has a color pic of her from that day): ruclips.net/video/eVASTaIoTYw/видео.html
This is, indeed, their schtick. Scott Bradlee is a fine-but-not-mind-blowing pianist, but he's an absolute genius at two things: arranging, and finding the right people to perform his arrangements. There are some good suggestions here already, but let me add: _Royals_ (Lourde), Featuring Puddles, the Sad Clown with the Golden Voice.
Scott Bradlee is the founder and arranger, etc., for PMJ. He uses a stable of musicians and singers who do these covers of modern songs done in a 30, 40s, 50s genre. Recommend PMJ featuring Morgan James doing "Dream On", it also is killer. Haley and Morgan do a lot with PMJ and they do several together. Enjoy...all I would ask is be careful where you make your stops..you miss some of the vocal fun that way...good luck.
Don’t compare her to anyone else. You are never going to find anyone like her. She is truly special!

Nice way to catch all the nuances. You used a phrase I use when I describe this performance, vocal gymnastics, and she stuck every landing.
Thanks, she was pretty incredible in this performance. I'm really eager to jump in for some more of her content.
@@larryshair I've heard they did 1 take to get that video. I'll be at her show next Friday, so I'm looking forward to hearing her live.
I’ve heard a couple others from Postmodern Jukebox. This is incredible! You looked like you were in heaven!! Great reaction, Chris.
She is one of my favorites for sure.Haley Reinhart performs with her dad at Chess Records in Chicago is a must watch, so good.
She had a sore throat when she sang this, she wasn't going to sing but the band persuaded her to give it a go.
This was her first professional tour, do you really think she had to be ‘persuaded’.?
As a top 0.1% of Eminem listeners worldwide according to Spotify, I think it's crazy you are reacting to this because this is one of my favorite covers of all time and is regularly on my playlists.
Man, I can see why! I was speechless. What an incredible all-around great performance.
Not just one of all-time great covers, I think it's one of the all-time best vocal performances. For me it's in the same realm as Clare Torry in "Great Gig in the Sky."
Welcome to the PMJ rabbit hole!
All of Hailey's performances with them are amazing.
Loved the Angelina reference, as I would love to hear an AJ/PMJ collab some day
LARRY,, in event your hair got in the way and missed it, Angelina released a brand new co-written original today.
LOVE DON'T LET ME GO
Thanks! Uploaded today!
Also, if you didn't see it in the description of the original video, this was the FIRST TAKE. That's how good she is.
And she was sick.
@@feasible tired, she had gone non stop as soon as she landed in Berlin on the road. In a recent interview, she said she was tired, five shows on the road, but she believed it was because she wasn't 100% it caused her to push her emotions, which came through in the video. She was not sick, there's a difference
@@feasibleHaley sang in PMJ’s 2 top videos that day, Creep and All About That Bass, and did backup singing for a third video,Style. No one in their right mind would do that if they were remotely sick.
Talk about stamina.
Perhaps that's where the bit of hoarseness in her vocals was more prevalent. I'll have to keep my ears open on other songs for sure.
@@larryshair Haley’s voice has a natural hoarseness to it. She even speaks with a hoarse voice.
But don’t let that fool you. She can hit pretty high notes also.
Her rendition of I put a spell on you is a prime example.

PMJ is great, Scott on piano is the founder/arranger/etc... Haley is a goddess... She became a favorite the first time I heard her, so tallented and versitile. Scott is smart and has Haley on several of his videos. Scott also likes having Morgon James sing on his videos... Did I mention Scott is smart? Enjoy the rabbithole.
If your want to see her doing Jessica Rabbit, you need to see her cover of Seven Nation Army. Rumor has it that she taught Jessica Rabbit how to vamp!
The best performance by one of the premier vocalists performing today. IMO, one of the top tier videos, far outstripping most of the far more viewed tracks on RUclips.
AJ is much younger but started earlier than Haley and, yes, they are very much in the same wheelhouse although with different personal images. Two superb vocalists.
'a box of chocolates', exactly, every soundbite is a new flavor, surprise after surprise
PMJ, yes this is stylistically what they do, this being one of their best, check them out with Haley on 7 Nation Army and with Morgan James doing Dream On, Aerosmith
thanks for sharing
As someone said in another reaction to this, she uses 23 of the 9 known vocal techniques known to man
POSTMODERN JUKEBOX IS TOURING RIGHT NOW!
🛑❗Rocker Harry Reinhart's daughter, she grew up in the music world surrounded with talented people. Harry has a lifelong passion for the blues and she shares it, he has mentored and encouraged her throughout her life and tho he and his friends may have opened some doors, she sailed through them and delivered !
Glad to have you along for the ride down the Rabbit Hole!
@@larryshair Thanks. I'm enjoying all your videos. And discovering some new artists! Thank you! I listen almost exclusively to independent artists, so I love finding new talent that I haven't heard before. And speaking of that, have you discovered Larkin Poe yet? If not, you have to start with Mad as a Hatter in The Convent Club chapel from 2015. I have a feeling you will like it a lot. These girls (two sisters from Georgia) were pretty unknown back then, but they do have quite a strong following now, and even a Grammy nomination in 2019. Not going to say any more other than I would love to see you do a reaction.
@@davidnettleton3375 thanks a lot David! I’ll be sure to put the song request on my list. The list is pretty large, but I can try and sneak in one or two here and there. Thanks my friend!
All the PMJ songs are well done. You can't go wrong with any of them. Haley is in many. But their cover of Aerosmith's 'Dream On' will give you chills. It's different singer named Morgan James (who also teams up w/ Haley in their cover of 'All About That Bass').
What a great reaction, I will be following you down that rabbit hole.
Great reaction. As usual anyone reacting to this superstar (should be more known to the public) gets a subscription. Tnx!
This was my intro to PMJ, & I just love them! They do such great arrangements (rearrangements)… such as a klezmer version of Talk Dirty To Me.
Haley puts on a clinic with this performance. Best ever!
(Morgan and PMJ "Dream On") Great reaction here man!
toss up between this and seven nation army. she nails both
PMJ brought us Haley, Morgan James and many more wonderful vocalists.......Scott Bradlee, the pianist, does the arrangements and the band is top notch ! .......... straight outta 1950's Tin Pan Alley
Post Modern Jukebox - What is love
She is cracy good!
This is Haley stating that she is a world class vocal athlete!
"Casey" Abrams :-)
Casey Abrams
@@agwyvern spell check got me! Fixing it now.
That one with Jeff Goldblum and the orchestra too.
Any PMJ with Haley or Morgan James is a MUST HEAR! Haley did a cover of No Doubt's "don't speak" w/ PMJ, 7 nation army, its all about he bass (w/ Morgan) you MUST see Morgan do DREAM ON w/ PMJ.
The guy on cello is Casey Abrams who was on the same season of American idol as Haley
So excited you got to this!
Your my new fav reactor!! Can only say welcome to Haleyville! Long time for me, I was there at first American Audition. On PMJ again welcome to growing crowd. Maybe see PMJ "BYE BYE BYE" a good springboard into the Pinnacle studio regulars.
Thanks so much!
Her song, 7 nations army is amazing as well.
----------
PMJ uses many vocalists and draws musicians (mostly acoustic) from a pool of excellent performers...so every video has a different feel to it. The only thing you can count on is that the end result will be fascinating! PMJ's restylings are SO different from the originals that it's a good idea to go back and listen to the original before discovering what PMJ does to it!
Welcome to the Postmoderm Jukebox cover. Depending on the song, the style change.
🕴️Best torch singer since Sara Vaughn and Julie London.
Haley was on the 10th season of American Idol. It was also the season where everyone realized the results for every season were fixed ahead of time. She was clearly the best performer but was constantly sabotaged by the judges to knock her out of the competition.
👍👍👍 love her and postmodern jukebox rocks. check her out in Seven Nation Army & All About the Bass
She was sick with sore throat and didn’t think she she could do it and she ended up doing this in one take
Same thing Tony Bennet said to Lady GaGa , “ I don’t know if you knew it but YOU ARE A JAZZ SINGER”! Same with Haley.
Oh sir, wait until you hear the PMJ Haley Reinhart cover of Seven Nation Army… 👀
I never appreciated this White Stripes song until this version - hope you’ll consider reacting to it. Haley and this band and arrangement are too good! Subbing in anticipation 😊
Be sure to play this on good speakers to have the full body effect
I like your lighting, nice set up
Thanks so much!
Check out Post Modern Jukebox featuring Morgan James doing Aerosmith's Dream On. It's fantastic.
I'm buckled up for your route 66 ride.
Nice, let's go!!!
0:15 - "Can you actually believe it... that I know a modern song?" (from 30+ years ago)
lol! Well, when you're 57, I guess 30 year ago was recent :)
@@larryshair - Yeah, I get it... I'm 53.
This is the way it was meant to be.
Ok so I loved her on American idol. When she didn’t win I almost quit watching lol. But I’ve kinda followed her ever since. She is fantastic. I’ve got a girl crush for sure. I could listen to pmj all day. This is a fun rabbit hole. Enjoy.
One of PMJ’s newer productions is a cover of Miley’s song Flowers- personal opinion, I like it better than the original! Just amazing!
Told you that you’d like this. Not a bad PMJ song, they’re all phenomenal!
Not really. Only the ones featuring Haley Reinhart. All others pale in comparison.
@@bullfrog5037You're really a hardcore fan, hm? I bet Haley would not appreciate your aggressive attitude... relax...
@@tanjakaiser7432 I couldn't give a flip what you think or bet. As a termite obviously has more brain power than you do.
My favorite is Haley doing Seven Nation Army and then All About That Base.
This is said to be a one take effort AFTER she was in the All About the Base video.
You also absolutely have to react to Morgan James doing Dream On with PMJ. You, my friend, are definitely going to have to go down the whole PMJ catalog rabbit hole. :)
PMJ with Morgan James is another one you have to check out
She did a cover of 7 Nations Army by the White Strips that is equally amazing, IMHO.
Agreed!
also what is even more impressive is that this masterpiece was actually completed in one take with a tired voice and all but one of the postmodern jukebox covers are done live with no auto-tune, etc more info in links below:
here is the history of "creep" one take from scott bradlee (the creator and pianist from postmodern jukebox): ruclips.net/video/MskKSH1Kf4U/видео.html.
here is additional history on haley and "creep" from #1 fan haleyTusk (even has a color pic of her from that day): ruclips.net/video/eVASTaIoTYw/видео.html
