I love your videos, and I started my first locs at a salon. Second round I am having a friend do them for me. Not saying the salon was not great but I went through some surgeries in my past years. At 60, now is a new journey that will stay as long as I live. Your hair is a part of your wisdom, and who defines you.
I keep a box of aloe leaves for a number of uses. I used this method on my last re-twist after seeing your video ... loved it! All I used was aloe and a spray bottle of water with some coconut oil (which wasn't really necessary). I've tried blending aloe in the blender and making the gel previously and ended up with little particles of aloe in my hair (which was a no go ... I had to wash my hair again to get them out). I found rubbing it straight from the plant to my hair much better and super convenient! I loved the shine and softness of my hair after it dried. Thanks of the post! :-)
akamouse100 Thank you so much. I use nothing but pure products. Coconut oil & water.. I was my hair with sulfer 8... Castor oil. and African Shea butter.
When I had my first set of locs in the 90's. I used to use the aloe vera plant the way you just did in your video. Lately in videos, I've been seeing people put it in a bowl, blend it, etc...and then wash it out. I was so confused because when I used it the way you did, my hair turned out great. Just as your hair did. I have my third set of locs now and I just bought a plant but after I saw how everyone washed it out I got confused. Thank you for confirming that I can go ahead and do it the way I always have. Your locs are beautiful...
Look, the people telling me that locs are dirsty are the same ones who have heat damage and end up with traction alopecia, and at the age of 60 decide they want locs, but it won’t grow because they’re hair is too damaged to sprout 🤷🏽♀️
I use aloe on my face all the time but I have never tried it to retwist my locs. I can't wait to try this because I HATE using store gel on my locs because I just know there will be build up.
Thank you for sharing this video! I decided to used it today to retwist my locs & I love the feeling that I no longer have to worry about my hair being oily. Good bye to (let's jam, bees wax etc). I love it
First, I would like to say you have definitely inspired me to try Aloe Vera now. I'm a year and half into my locs and still trying to figure some things out. Secondly, I'm happy to see someone else use a hand held dryer instead a hooded one!
I want traditional locks sooooooo bad, I have Sisterlocks 😐, they are okay but they are gonna make me a slave, traditional locks I could maintain myself but these, not. Your locks are beautiful 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 thank u so much for doing these videos & for the information. GOD BLESS.
Sisterlocks are very small intricately created locks using the interlocking process which are very easily styled due to their small size, they are quite versatile but I really have a love for traditional locks.
100% Haitian here and I totally relate.. Haitian parents are really...........iffy when it comes to locks. Always have to turn down their requests to take me to a barber.
I love the video. I forgot my shampoo when I traveled to Guyana. I had to use the aloe that was growing so thick in the bucket. Also I grow rosemary, and sage. You can dry them make a tea. use them as a rinse.
I really liked this video. It helps me a lot to know different ways I can do locs and twists. I try my best to do all natural hairstyles. With myself and my family. And that is a nice hairstyle on you. Keep the videos coming!
oh wow the way u apply the aloe vera is so logical and convenient. i never thought of applying it that way. i have dozens of aloe vera plants in my backyard but stopped using it as gel becuz i hated the application process (too messy) but now that i've seen this im gonna give it another try
This seems like such a convenient and effective way to retwist! do you still do this? If so, have you found any concerns with it? I planned on just using aloe gel from the shop
I love your locs so much. You were my inspiration to start my locs. My locs will be 6 months on August 6th. I also wanted to say I have never left a comment on anyone's page but, I love watching you and your beautiful family. Thank you for giving awesome tips I look forward to seeing your future post and volgs.
Can I use ready made aloe Vera gel in/from the bottle? Btw... my Haitian in-laws have yet to comment on my locs. I don't think they like it. I'm different from the other daughters in-law with straight creamy crack hair 🤣 oh yeah btw I'm Jamaican 🇯🇲
They're not going to like Jack as long as its different. Haitians are very judgmental and colonized by French traditions which includes the straight hair, religious, and colorist folly. Girl continue to be yourself that's probably why your husband choose you and you chose him from the get go. I'm haitian. My father tripped when my husband put a doo rag on our son. He said only "thugs" wear that kind of stuff. I ran from that mentality. I have a tattoo and plan on getting more, a nose piercing etc.. I allowed my sons and daughters to get piercings. My older son is now on his loc journey so I'm here on this channel because of him. Hes made me his stylist 🙂. As long as it makes you happy who cares what your in laws think. As for your other in laws with the creamy crack on their heads reality is they're going to have to do much more than that to "please " their Haitian in laws. Even after all of that they will still talk sugar honey Iced Tea.
Love your locs! ❤️Just started my Loc journey 2 months ago. I have braid locs and having a hard time with my ends. To my fellow Haitian sista sak pase ayisien! I am now a new subscriber
I love this video! I have been wearing locs for 8 years. I have been interlocing (expensive!) for the past two years because of the thinning from frequent palm rolling. And I am on the path of seriously thinking about chopping them off. but I have been researching the easiest methods of retwisting hair without thinning the locs and using natural aloe gel. Let me tell you, I love your technique from start to finished especially the edge control. I will definite give this method a try! I just need to find a place that sells aloe leaves. I checked publix near me in tamps, Fl and they do not carry it.
what it's looks so easy now thank u I'm glad I found your video it really helps I didn't kno u can use that plant for dreads and my mom buys it all the time thank u love your dimenstration👍👍👍
Ahahaha, you have to be a Zoe … hilarious. That was a Zoe move though. Lol. I tried aloe Vera once and it made me itch. I think I'm allergic to it. But I think it's a great alternative. My uncle used it way back in the day when he had Locs. Great informative video as always. Tell your hubby HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!
I did exactly what you did and is d worst, is just a few days i did it an every day i have to oil my scalp cause it looks like my hair aint wash for years an it dry an flaking
this make me wanna retwist my hair so bad but I have the smallest locs in the whole world and it's gonna take forever... I can feel my wrist hurting just thinking about it
Girl you is so awesome I look forward to your videos; I recently had to start using a CPAP machine I'm trying to have my daughter style my hair in a away were its comfortable for me while I wear my mask. God bless and thanks again for the videos keep them coming 🙏🏽💜🌷👸🏾
I'm really interested in trying this. Currently I buy a gallon of aloe vera found at Walmart and spray on after washing. I seal the moisture with castor oil, then use gel to retwist.
This video was amazing and great tips and outstanding oh and I just have one question I’m curious and I just wanna know how long does it take for my hair to lock up using this method and I was going to make some in a jar because I just started my second new journey December 15 because I wanted mine my locs to be bigger and I’m just curious how long will it take for my hair to lock up using it on my locs and the reason why I started all over because my first set of locs was too small and thin and I didn’t like it when the person did my hair they did it wrong.
Love your hair. I'm surprised that the aloe vera gel laid them edges down. This stuff does look like it can come down in handy. I might have to see how I like it myself.
your hair before looks like mine after lol or after a week . your hair is pretty much always neat ..even wet after shampoo . i wouldnt retwist it if mine were looking like that . ..i try to retwist less at the begining i was retwisting every 4/6 weeks now i wait up to 8/10 weeks .to avoid alopecia when done too often . i how often do you retwist? i like the aloe vera tip . better than gels
How did you dye your hair back to black? Which products? How long did you wait between dyes? Any damage? I dye my hair redish ' months ago and I don't like it so I want to go back to black but I'm afraid to do any damage and I want to use the right product. I searched through your videos and didn't find the info. Thanks for this informative video, I'll definitely try this on my next retwist. ;)
+adjita4 now that you mention it I should have done a video on that bc I just touched up my color. I used garnier fruitis blue black and in my experience the damage come from lightening my hair. Going back to Black never hurt it. Actually make it look fuller.
DXLYN locs Thanks I will try to find the same dye you used. But I am going to wait 2 more months because I have thin fragile hair. That's why I only dyed my hair once in my life. Your comment was reassuring though. Thank you :)
I love your videos, and I started my first locs at a salon. Second round I am having a friend do them for me. Not saying the salon was not great but I went through some surgeries in my past years. yes! glad I'm not the only one who thought so lol. Thanks for watching
Hi, following your instruction I used aloe vera to retwist my hair.I think it's better then when I use the others gel. Thank you for your videos
did the hold last for a long time
@nedgeesinger thank you for your comment .I've seen many aloe retwist videos but I was wondering how it compares to other gels.
Your locs are nice... and I never thought about the aloe plant method... I should give it a try.
akamouse100 Thank you so much. I use nothing but pure products. Coconut oil & water.. I was my hair with sulfer 8... Castor oil. and African Shea butter.
akamouse100 hibiscus flowers? How do you mix it?

😂🤣😂
Woaahhhh 😂😂
It's not true😂😂😂 I am starting my second locs at 60, and I am enjoying the journey.
I use aloe on my face all the time but I have never tried it to retwist my locs. I can't wait to try this because I HATE using store gel on my locs because I just know there will be build up.
Jaleesa Ayoka use along on ur face for what? I'm fighting acne and I'm trying to find a solution
Don’t use it directly on your hair like that. It will leave a bunch of pulp on your hair. The. It’s gonna be hard to take out
What do you use aloe on your face for?
@@CosmoKramerGeorgeCostanza whats the best way to use it ?
Exactly the video I have been looking for. Thank you for the thorough explanation and tutorial! Beautiful job!
Thank you for sharing this video! I decided to used it today to retwist my locs & I love the feeling that I no longer have to worry about my hair being oily. Good bye to (let's jam, bees wax etc). I love it
i like the re-twist look its so sleek and the aloe worked nicely...i dont have locs but i may use this in my natural hair styles
Love a fresh crispy retwist
First, I would like to say you have definitely inspired me to try Aloe Vera now. I'm a year and half into my locs and still trying to figure some things out. Secondly, I'm happy to see someone else use a hand held dryer instead a hooded one!
You did a great job on your locs, you made it look so easy...i can't wait until my locs are where yours are...thanks for sharing

GOD BLESS.
What's the difference between regular locs and sista locs?
Sisterlocks are very small intricately created locks using the interlocking process which are very easily styled due to their small size, they are quite versatile but I really have a love for traditional locks.
ohh okay, those sound like they take forever to retwist. You should try combining your locs
Combine. Another beauty in all locs
+KimmieSquare they are not "retwisted" in the traditional sense l, it's more like interlocking
100% Haitian here and I totally relate.. Haitian parents are really...........iffy when it comes to locks. Always have to turn down their requests to take me to a barber.
That's the controlling spirit that they have. Pure narcissists'. Girl keep doing you. Coming from a Haitian sista.
Great video! I love using pure aloe vera too
I love the video. I forgot my shampoo when I traveled to Guyana. I had to use the aloe that was growing so thick in the bucket.
Also I grow rosemary, and sage. You can dry them make a tea. use them as a rinse.
Oh yeah I’m from Guyana
I really liked this video. It helps me a lot to know different ways I can do locs and twists. I try my best to do all natural hairstyles. With myself and my family. And that is a nice hairstyle on you. Keep the videos coming!
I have been using the mango and lime locking gel and decided to switch to aloe vera gel. Thanks so much for the awesome tutorial.
Thank you for a smooth to the point video! Loved it!!
oh wow the way u apply the aloe vera is so logical and convenient. i never thought of applying it that way. i have dozens of aloe vera plants in my backyard but stopped using it as gel becuz i hated the application process (too messy) but now that i've seen this im gonna give it another try
+u0fo lol thank you! You are lucky to have it in your back yard too
This seems like such a convenient and effective way to retwist! do you still do this? If so, have you found any concerns with it? I planned on just using aloe gel from the shop

+SheLovesLight 😂lol yes it was. And that's interesting that it make you itch, I get like that when I eat pineapple. He says thank you so much!

💘 you too.
So neat! Aloe Vera gel is my favorite
+FreeFormLady thank you! I just love it
Valuable information for those considering locs. Or what products may work for good hair care.
I did exactly what you did and is d worst, is just a few days i did it an every day i have to oil my scalp cause it looks like my hair aint wash for years an it dry an flaking
I wonder if I can some to my loctician to try....
Go girl 😍Thanks for making this video💜I started my lock journey yesterday and I am so excited 😊
I just started my locs but I have an aloe vera plant and I usually do masks with it. So I'm happy to know i can still use it.
Nice! Does it eventually flake or is it hard to wash out.?
yes that look good and healthy
Wow this is beautiful, where do you buy the clips please
looks great. does the aloe gel have a scent? was it really sticky afterwards?
+Ednabug it does not have a scent. If it does it means the leaf is wilting/rotting. And not sticky at all, clean finish
thanks
this make me wanna retwist my hair so bad but I have the smallest locs in the whole world and it's gonna take forever... I can feel my wrist hurting just thinking about it
you inspired me

I'm really interested in trying this. Currently I buy a gallon of aloe vera found at Walmart and spray on after washing. I seal the moisture with castor oil, then use gel to retwist.
Nice job! Are you going to wash the aloe Vera from your hair?
This video was amazing and great tips and outstanding oh and I just have one question I’m curious and I just wanna know how long does it take for my hair to lock up using this method and I was going to make some in a jar because I just started my second new journey December 15 because I wanted mine my locs to be bigger and I’m just curious how long will it take for my hair to lock up using it on my locs and the reason why I started all over because my first set of locs was too small and thin and I didn’t like it when the person did my hair they did it wrong.
I’ve learned a lot from your videos as a newbie 🥰I’ll be getting locked this week for the first time I must say I’m a bit nervous 😬
Love love love your size of locs and the amount ❤️
Thank you for your wisdom. I really like and appreciate your videos. How long have you been using Aloe vera plant as a gel?
What are the benefits of using aloe vera on your locs? Looks beautiful
You do your hair so effortlessly. Wonderful job. How long in between retwist do you notice your new growth starting to loc up/won't unravel?
Hi! Does that aloe Vera plant leave a weird smell in your hair?
Hi DXLYN Locs
After your retwist with the aloe vera gel how long does it take for your hair to dry?
mezami whoooi. a woman after my own heart. totally doing this tonight
Beautiful Locks....the roots look great. How often do you twist?
+MsMikko77 thank you! Every 3-4 weeks
Beautiful!!!! Quick question, does the gel from the aloe vera plant hardens as it dries to keep the locs in place?
no hardness but a good hold
You and you locs are gorgeous! I just need to locate an aloe Vera plant now ^_^
+loc'dandloaded thank you love ❤️ got it at publix
I'll have to try the aloe plant one day. Did you have a good amount of shine for a while?
+ahsiam220 I did, plus I oils my hair once it dried
i love your vidoes
Love your hair. I'm surprised that the aloe vera gel laid them edges down. This stuff does look like it can come down in handy. I might have to see how I like it myself.
+Alicia C thank you. Def try it. I hope you get good results
I so have to try using alo in my hair also to see the out come. But my question is DOES IT CAUSE BUILD UP??
+GoldieLocs101 it does not. However, I don't use if for every retwist. Just periodically, like a hot oil treatment
+DXLYN locs okay thanks for the feed back
Your locs are so 🔥, Beautiful
Thank you so much 😀
I luv your locs
How often do you retwist?

I live for the aloe. Thank you my sister. 💜💜💜
