@@naturalbeauty0214 do you still use this for retwist? My son will be starting his journey snd he has a softer texture but a 4 curl pattern. I want to stay away from products that cause buildup.
I ❤️ this. Thank you so much for the DIY tutorial. I made an oil and rose water for my locs. Then I decided to make some sugar scrub and lip scrub for myself. I researched the ingredients and made some tweaks to the DIY’s I found. I added Vitamin E, Tea tree and Moringa oil to the gel. Worked like magic. No flakes. Not oily. Not greasy. No residue. This is inexpensive and easy. Thank you so much🖤🖤🖤❣️
Thank You so much i'm a newbie to the Loc community 3weeks in!!!! The person who did my 2 strand twist told me NOT to wash my hair for 6 months and no retwist for 6 weeks...Nah that"s not gonna work so i found you and retwisted my own hair and used this mixture and my hair looks AWESOME
Lady!!!! Yaaaasssss!!!! I need this. I get so scared when I retwist because I dont want to apply products that will cause too much buildup. Your locs are beautiful!!
FYI-If you make a lot and don't use a preservative you can portion the gel and freeze the leftovers. I have had good success with this since I never use all I make and it will go bad in a very ugly and evil way. Also flaxseed gel makes a great vegan egg substitute and it is good for you too.
@@chefnyame7235 it must be whole and in its "shell" the slime comes from boiling that outer layer. I cook with flax (keto/vegan) and when recipes call for whole (or ground) they mean it! they react totally differently... but then again maybe you can make it work
Beautiful locs ❤ Great video 🙏🏽 Yes straining whilst hot is sooo much better... i did some today as a pre wash - I defo needed it, as i have not retwisted mine for a little while
Thank you so much for this!!! I'm starting my loc journey today and was in the beauty supply store like "ewww I dont want to use any of these TOXIC locing products"
Thanks for the recipe on how to make the gel! I currently alternate between aloe Vera gel, and loc gel. My locs are only a year and 2 months old and I’m looking for them to grow and be healthy. Your hair looks great! Thanks for the video
Hi, I just finished making my flaxseed and aloe gel for hair. I can't wait to use and that will be tonight. I will let you know the outcome. I will also be doing the AVC wash fir the first time on my loc of seven years.
Your locs are Lovely! What a great recipe! Can I ask how often do you retwist and wash your hair? I’m starting locs and considering what to use so I don’t get a lot of build up.
Great video. I'm about to start my 4th loc journey and i've used aloe and oil before but never flaxseed. I will definitely use this method when retwisting.
Your locs look gorgeous! I have yet to try the DIY flaxseed gel...been wanting to for years now lol... It's just the matter of having to boil and everything..It's definitely the best route to go if you want something to retwist your locs with though. ❤️❤️ tfs
@@naturalbeauty0214 😂😂😂 I watched a video about mixing alovera and flaxseed, I didn't check the amount of flax to water and my kitchen ended up in a real mess. Going to use your measurements tomorrow. Thanx

your locs look absolutely healthy moisturized and beautiful lot of work though but i will definitely try the flaxseed and aloe diy thanks for sharing love and peace*
Yes I love it! Your locks are beautiful and i love how shiny it is!! I added gelatin and vitamin e to my aloe Vera gel bit km going to make flaxseed gel tonight and mix it with my aloe Vera gel and use that! TFS!
a trick to keeping it from boiling over is to place a wooden spoon or spatula over across the pan, mid way to center....has to be wooden, or bamboo, not plastic or metal...
Wow, can u do this with Chia seeds too & show us...b/c I know they tend to have the same consistently when placed in regular room temperature water for a few hrs too?
That's funny, I've been doing some research on chia seeds and had just purchased some to do a review. I'll be doing a review with Chia seed on my next retwist. Thanks for the suggestion!
I've got my Flaxseeds and I'm ready to go my next retwist! Just need the applicator bottle (do you store it in that in the fridge)? Which oil do you put in? You mention sitting under a dryer, which helps the white looking gel dry clear. What if you natural (air) dry...would it still dry clear? My hair is pretty non-porous and I still have fly-away hairs that though I wrap around the loc, still come loose. I'm hoping this super-moisturizing gel can help with that! Thanks for sharing your recipe!
Yes store in fridge. I use any oil that helps with thickness and shine. I've never tried drying without a dryer. I'm thinking that it would but alot slower which could cause a smell eventually.
I don't have a hair dryer... If it's late and I want to go to bed, I'll hit my hand blowdryer, but I've been air drying almost since day one. That may change as my hair gets longer, but so far, so good.
@windsingerful There are alot of people who do not like the dryer and prefer air drying. Some towel blot to to dry as much as possible and let it dry naturally? Is that your method? I say if it isn't broke, don't fix it! Air drying works for you and alot of others. Its definitely more healthier on your locs.
I have 3 mircrofiber towels i use to dry my hair, plus, it's pretty non-porous, so that's about the only upside of begin that way - it dries pretty quickly (of course, that's also the downside - it dries quickly! O_o). But it could be as they get longer, that will change. I usually start early in the day, too.
Put a wooden spoon over the top of the pot and it won't boil over. I don't know the science behind it but it works.
really?!!! I love little quirks like that...thanks I'm going to try that on my next natural gel tutorial!

Hello just came across your video , I was wondering how long does this gel last and how do you store it?
great video! Question-do you think air drying would yield the same results as sitting under a dryer?
I've never tried it. I always sit under the dryer to keep my locs from smelling by being wet or not completely drying by air.
