Superb review. We need to remember that people purchase cars for what THEY want. I purchased the 2023 2.0 with the upgrades. What a great car! Everything you mentioned is right on. I love the automatic and how smooth it is. The paint is the new blue and it is stunning. I am 71 and feeling younger. Put a pretty girl in the passenger seat and I’m in diapers. I’m even growing new hair. This is my fountain of youth.
Damn bros wood 🪵 is even getting harder has to be a good car… jp
@@ZaysSlow335supra gets me bricked up too
I just bought the 2.0 4cyl Supra and I can honestly say it’s worth the money!
That's awesome!
It’s true I just got one too a nitro yellow its no joke
Congratulations for your acquisition, it's truly a JDM legend. Nice ride.

Got mine also! Blue.
Leaving a like for the eurobeat at the end. Great ending for such a video!
Good to see a positive review on this car, a lot of haters out there
Thx man you make me feel good about buying the 4 cylinder GR 2022 Supra. im person #1, can barely afford it, will 100% love it! Yes i will probly wish i bought the big brother at some point, but i am a beginner in sports cars and this is a dream car for me. I will be going places in style and enjoy every minutes of it :)
Hahah, loved the way you decided to end this video. Really enjoyed some of your insight into the 4 banger Supra
I'm person #1. I just got mines on Friday in absolute. I love it. Its enough for me. Loved the review! Subbed!
Awesome! Welcome to the club!
@@SupraMK5 thank you! I picked it up for 42k brand new in ohio. Iowa still wanted 45+. It was an easy decision just for a weekend car. I cant wait to do all the downpipe etc . I've only seen 1 owner do it but it would be interesting to see the mods & total cost in a video after its done. 0 so far lol
Considering the A90 has BMW engines and they love their 6 speeds, it really seems rediculous that it isnt optioned with a manual
I hear you, we definitely want a manual too!
...you can thank US Federalizarion laws. ~$42M for each engine/transmission/chassis combo iirc. Info on this is difficult source, but the process isn't cheap and the price may have increased since I last came across the information
I wouldn't want a manual
The only channel who tells the 2.0 and 3.0 differences clearly!
Great and honest review. Glad you mentioned the difference between this and the Z4. They are night and day.
Glad you agree! It's so easy to just write it off without experiencing the difference.
Had to subscribe. Amazing quality video. !
I love mine too! Great Review!!
This going to be a steal once you get a tune
Glad to see this car in person and such a good car
Glad you got to see it while we had it in our possession!
Great review. I want the 2.0 now!
Thank you so much for this video. I've been going back and fourth between the 2.0 and 3.0 but now I cant justify the cost of the 3.0. My plans are to use this car for autocross on the weekends, and the 2.0 looks much cheaper to tune/build how I want for the track. It also looks like with a small ecu tune you can get 300HP out of this engine. Perfect!
You're welcome! Nice! We have yet to see anyone tune their 2.0 but will definitely post a video on that when the time comes. Thanks
Just subscribed. Awesome review. Decision to be made when I retire in 5 years is one of these well maintained low to normal mileage sport cars, preferably 1 owners:
1. 2021 Supra 3.0 or 2.0
2. 2002-2004 C5 Corvette manual
3. 2012-13 C6 manual
4. 2018-2020 Mustang 5.0 auto
Won’t be tracking it, just spirited driving and long distance highway cruising. Obviously these will all be in different price ranges especially in 5 years so price independent. Looking for your honest opinion. All 4 options are pretty reliable from what I’ve researched.
Thanks
Stephen

Cool line
@Wujek Wladek yeah this guy spun. although you do achieve hp numbers through torque output.

Great bit of driving at the end there
I like this honest review A LOT!
Thank you!
Thank you Eros!
Great review. Your explanation of the car is eloquent. I'm thinking about buying a 2.0 and you helped more than any video I've seen. Thanks!
Just watching this and I realised the suspension components look like my 2018 F30 M Sport, B48 engine looks similar too, the oil cap looks bigger though
great video!
Thank you!

The nostalgia hearing those initial D eurobeat 😎
Yup, I just rewatched the final stage again lol
Good content bud👌
Thank you!
Those roads look phenomenal to drive on
As the smaller motor sits farther back, I've heard guys that tune them refer to it as a front mid-engine car.
3:55 HP is used to sell cars, torque is used to win races
6:00 Mechanical LSD
7:25 Test drive
9:30 Sport mode
12:55 Supra vs BRZ/86
17:45 Which canyon road is that (in SoCal)?
Great review!! I currently have a MK7 GTI which is a fine FWD car with good stock power. But this RWD 4 cyl Supra looks really nice for a street car. Are there any ECU & TCU tunes available for this Supra yet or is it locked? I agree on your view of torque vs HP. I have always liked high torque engines. Love to feel the pull during acceleration. Getting 350 lbs of torque with a tune in this lighter weight Supra would be very nice.Peace.
Nice! Yes the ECU can be tuned if the production date is before 6/5/2020
great video sr
So basically, an economy Supra because upkeep on replacing parts will be of a more affordable cost too. Dang, now I might be tempted to upgrade from my Mazda3 to that 4 cylinder Supra.
I trust this guy so much. I want to buy a supra and take it to him to tune.
I think that a person who hits the track regularly should get the 6 Cyl. For occasional track driving and canyon fun the 4cyl more than does the job.
Well it should be the opposite. So weird how people always think this. It's like everyone forgets how in the 90s the fastest supras at the track where the four cylinder ones.
What? There has never been a 4 cylinder supra until now@@4touchdowns1game29
I really can't fathom why anyone would hate the 4 cylinder, I mean the engine itself is actually quite sufficient for sporty driving! not too mention it made the car lighter, etc. But yeah, a manual option would've been great, especially for countries where they tax cars based on their displacement.
Doesn't sound as good, doesn't have as good of brakes, and doesn't have as many options. Resale value is not as good.
Lots of reasons to not like the 4 cylinder.
@@TeensierPython yes true, but if you just want a sporty grand tourer then its a good car. ((Though for that price you could have a more comfortable BMW or Merc))
17:20 the miata popped his headlights at you as respect for the JDM community :D
Interesting overview. Are you sure this base model has LSD and not just an open diff?
Eurobeat makes driving feel more intense
Yup! You know it!
great video, whatever makes the hood camera turn left and right is not pleasant for me, would prefer the other
thank you and yea the hypersmooth function on the gopro gets out of hand. My apologies!
What is the range when you full the tank for this model?
I just got one but where can I find exhaust, intake and stuff also does anyone know how much power the stock block can handle?
I came from a boosted 86(300whp/255wtq)and I traded it in for this 2.0 a month ago. Funny thing is my old boosted 86 doesn't feel faster but my 86 has slightly better steering but the Supra is well rounded, I love em both.
Thats awesome man! Yes, the torque in the 2.0 Supra is what everyone is sleeping on.
Testet 2.0 Supras where just 40-50punds lighter. Because the 200 pounds weight saving is based on a 2.0 supra without any orderable extra compared to a well equipped 3.0
I'm REALLY trying hard to find a video on YT of the two Supras in the same short track with many turns and many laps to see what's really quicker
The 6cl will almost certainly be faster, stock for stock, except maybe on the tightest of courses.
@@NikRomanoRacing thx. I'm planning to run it at The FIRM in Florida. Tighter than straight but mixed

Will that 4cyl. Turbo from that car could be a replacement to the Beams 3SG engine?
Good review Jhonny seens
How well do these BMW turbo 4s hold up over the long term?
It passed all Toyota reliability test
🙂I could see this Supra being a good daily driver; and then 100,000+miles later, swapping a 2JZGTE in it.🤔
haha only time will tell. Although, we have friends who have been driving the prototype supra for a while now and it has over 150K+ miles with no major problems.
@@SupraMK5 So those must be high-mileage test/development vehicles for Toyota then. If those many miles are on those Protos, then a lot of "real-world" data can be learned from the teardown after testing is complete (CATs lifespan, warranty parts, CELs/OBD, etc).
@@755hp yup, my friend said there were a few issues in the earlier protos but the pre-production cars did well and also the engineers did certain fail tests to see how to car would react so they definitely put a lot of R&D into this platform.
@@SupraMK5 Yeah, there are usually several stages of prototype builds from first time frankenstein protos all the way to a production build; and testing and development takes a lot of time and money. Those Protos are probably driven close to 24/7; so 150+k of test miles is priceless data for Toyota.
B48 ever goes in my 430 I’m goin b58✊🏽
very informative. i think he may be overestimating how much weight difference there is between the engines
Best review on the Supra of the 10 I’ve seen, subscribed to you👌🏼
I am a simple man, I heard the Eurobeat at the end of the video and immediately pressed the thumbs up button.
such a great and informative video.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
My weekend car has a hydraulic steering, NA V6, and 6mt. It might be old and missing all the modern tech but it sure is reliable and fun to drive.
Wich car is?
also I was waiting to see some initial D drifting towards the end lol
That's cool, ...I've been wondering about these 4-cylinders: I'd really like the lightness and simplicity. Might wish for a brake upgrade option from the factory, and of course a stick: there's kind of another niche market for it: those of us who just miss the fun hatchbacks of the 80's as cars to get some fun out of pretty routine errands and commutes. (Kind of funny you'd have to go to the halo sports car line for that sort of thing, but such are the times. :) )
F36 2.0
@@teemeaux3830 🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆
This car sounds perfect for a person like me, the only problem is it might be a bit difficult to sell if you think about upgrading, you might take a loss getting it off your hands
You would even if it's just unmodded and used lol
I traded my 21 3.0 for a 23 2.0. Yes I did lol and I enjoy this 2.0 Supra so much more now! sure its slower but it simply handles better and more fun to drive! if I need more straight line speed I'll just drive my Tesla lol
You enjoying the 2.0? I’m thinking about trading in my Alfa Romeo Giulia for one.
@@jakef777 Absolutely recommanded! Aside from the much more expensive Porsche 718 there's simply nothing better in a performance car that also feels refine and never cheap like the 86 or BRZ. Biggest complain I have is the JBL ( yes the upgraded sound!) is absolutely trash! I've heard better from a 4 speaker base Corolla! No joke!
@@chuchum3 I’ve heard that about the stereo which is pretty sad considering the vehicles cost. Are you satisfied with the power output of the 2.0. My Giulia has similar power figures but is 500lbs heavier so I would imagine that the Supra would feel more spirited and light on its feet. I plan to drive the Supra this weekend.
Is it brake by wire too?
This is the best review of the 2.0 Supra I've seen. Of the two groups of people you describe that would prefer the 2.0 over the 3.0...I'm both! I couldn't justify the cost of the 3L when a 0-60 time under 5 seconds is fast enough, and I like the fact that when I get "bored" of the stock tuning (had my 2L for almost a year now) I can throw in a few grand and make it all like new again. The exhaust note compared to the 3L is a bit weaker, but I abhor the Camaro/Mustang/Charger/Fartcan-Import guys who think that exhaust that wakes the dead makes the engine more impressive and am glad that when I open the throttle it gets louder, but not obnoxious. I wouldn't mind if they offered a 6-speed option (I understand why they didn't develop a manual for the 2L - cost to develop wouldn't likely exceed the sales) but I've found that I don't miss the third pedal quite as much as I thought I would when I upgraded from my 6-speed Celica.
By the time you put a brake kit on this, which is REQUIRED for any driving with this thing, and a lsd, and all that why not buy a base i6? Maybe when they are big int he used market it will be worth it then.
If they put tuned 2zz in it, im gonna saving like madman and buy it in 3 years
I'm torn between the 2.0 Supra and the standard Porsche Cayman 2.0. What would you recommend?
supra would probably be cheaper and easier get worked on....supra is way better looking
Supra. I’ve driven both the Supra 3.0 and the 718 cayman s, and the Supra is almost as good as that car. The dynamics of the Porsche are a little better and more precise, but the Supra has the better engine transmission combination, and it is much better value, as it feels more refined and modern. The 2.0 Supra would close some of the gap to the Porsche in handling, as it is lighter, and it would have the same displacement for the engine, all for 20 grand less before the ridiculous options of the Porsche. Couple all of that with the fact that the Porsche will cost significantly more for maintenance-to put it into perspective, at least 500 for oil changes at the dealer for the s model-and you would be crazy not to purchase the Supra. The Supra is the best car for the money, and it is just as fun.
Regarding the engine, I never felt the B48 is a good tuning platform, because it's high compression makes it very knock limited. It is near impossible to tune the B48, in my BMW 330i aggressively, safely. I've noticed all ECU tunes for the B48, rely predominantly on increasing boost , and very small timing adjustments are made. A 320hp 'boosted' tune, feels very watered down compared to 320hp from aggressive timing. That being said, the Supra 2.0 is 500lbs lighter than the 330i G20, is even in stock form it is adequately quick for most people.
I test drove one and man if it came with a manual I woulda bought it that day 🥲
i got one on a year lease since the 3 ltr is on back order till 2022 october in my area. and i gotta say, a couple tunes and DIY coding, and im pretty happy with it
there is some arguments that this car has a open diff, and not a limited slip at all. Is this true or does it have lsd?
I tested the diff. It's an LSD, or at least an LSD is being mimicked effectively.
It’s an open differential.
I want to see Supra 2.0 races against the Cayman. So far nobody does that
ruclips.net/video/u4bP7B-vN2s/видео.html
oh sorry you said 2.0 never mind video then
Would 3.0 lowering springs work on the 2.0?
Yes almost all parts fit on both
I completely agree. Supra is misunderstood. Toyota and aftermarket will develop mods in the next 10 years just like how gtr has evolved
car is kind of twitchy when going over a groove or odd bump on highway speed. Almost caused me to go into side barrier.
Whats the curb weight on this car? And what is the horsepower?
3181 and 255hp/295tq
Where can I buy that Supra water bottle? haha
It comes with the car. ;)
@@SupraMK5 how come I didn't get one :(
@@jbpascua5852 It was a joke, I bought it at Toyota lol
where are you driving the car
I had a 3.0 and nothing compares to the performance of that car. I don’t think the 2.0 comes close but it might have a chance with 200 lbs of weight savings, a tune and bolt ons it might be a contender. I want to go test drive a 2.0 now.
If you are used to quicker cars or want a better engine tuning platform than the 3.0 is the better choice, but the 2.0 is quick enough for most people. The 2.0 just has the weight advantage that gives it better handling. You can probably make up for some of that in the 3.0 with some suspension upgrades.

About the steering wheel feedback, I think that the people who said that are the ones who drove the supra on gran turismo SPORT, like myself and to be honest it feels super uncontrollable IN the game
Gran Turismo sport definitely made the Supra with too much oversteer. In real life, the Supra rear end will kick out a bit but it's very controllable and predictable.
@@SupraMK5 good to know that
So it has LSD as standard?
Open diff.
11:43 its scary :)
Are we talking auto-x track, or drag strip, or road race track? Because in auto-x, you are classed by car and any parts thrown at it. Drag racing the slower 2.0t (despite tuning and trick parts is still slower). Finally, on a road track, who are you racing, and to be competitive, you'd want a body in white w/the 3.0 unless you are in a lower class, but still, you are throwing $100k's at the car to make it race competitive (and meet rule book regs)....so, I disagree with you about buying the 2.0t to chuck all of the stock parts in place of better ones. The 2.0t is the car for those who don't want to buy the 3.0 (and the insurance that comes w/it). The fact that the 2.0 parts are more simple is a bonus, yes, but not the reason why the car should be purchased. Do you modify the 2.0 for bragging rights or show points? How much modification does it take to make the 2.0 perform at the level of 3.0? You almost make it sound like the 2.0 is a "forever project" car.
BMW sandbags these engines anyways looking at 280hp and 295 torque and an ecu tune puts you at ~300hp
I want a 3.0 but my credit says nope😅 I think I could afford the 2.0
... Just add more down payment and be less of a risk to the lender

2.0L is a BMW transplant. Why? Toyota is an engine supplier to Japan's Super Formula racing series which are powered by 2.0L turbo 4 cylinder engines. BMW has horrible maintenance problems later on in life which is why they depreciate so badly. Toyota should have known better. 4th gen Supra with the 2JZ has appreciated and is a cult car. 2021 Supra with a 2JZ would be an instant classic.
Should have put the 3sgte in it. The 4 cylinder supras are the most well known and iconic of all supras and they can't even use the right engine. Those 90s supras were so dope, passing V10 Ferraris in a 4 banger with power windows lol. Fr they had to add power windows to add weight.
@@4touchdowns1game29 ..Toyota never made a 4 cyl Supra, I should know I had 2 of them AND an old Celica. I owned the 1st gen Supra MK1(1979) & MK2 (1986) pop-up head lights. Toyota got the idea to manufacture a Celica-Supra with 2.8L straight 6, from the 60s sports car the Toyota 2000GT
@@PopsRacer61 go look on the cover of Gran Turismo. Toyota only made 4 cylinder supras for factory Toyota race teams. Stock street cars got the 2jz race teams got the 4 cylinder 3sgte variant.
