I just hope the Abby actress doesn’t get harassed. At the end of the day, she’s a real person who plays a fictional character. Can’t have what happened to Laura Bailey happen again.

Anyone who harasses an actor or actress because they disliked a storyline, has problems deeper than what any video game can resolve. It's pathetic, the amount of people who were unable to distinguish between reality and a game.
Oh man, you know she’s going to be and I’m going to be torching those trolls right and left. What losers these people are for attacking a performer just for doing their job. Such cowards.
I don't know if I more worse or better but I rather harass the writer that make that game of abomination than random girl try earn money.
My hope for pt 2 is that, while playing the game, there were so many flashbacks that were used to bring the player up to speed on what was happening during Pt 2. If the second season of the show focused on those parts to make a grand opening to Season 3, so there won't be any need for these flashbacks to get in the way of the narrative, I think I can be a happy guy. Another chance to watch Ellie growing up, Abby becoming a threat, life in Wyoming, an introduction to Dina, and exploring the growing rift between Ellie and Joel, maybe even ending the second season on Abby's "golf lesson" on Joel's head. (What a cliffhanger, right?) Creating a straight line with the narrative, I believe, will make it much more faster paced than the "slow parts" of the game. Not to mention the feeling of watching the mercury rising with a side by side narrative between Abby's story, and Ellie's.
Can you just imagine? Season two ending with the death of Joel? Season three ending with Ellie leaving her "happy home" after a visit from Tommy? Season four beginning with Ellie going to finish her vengeance tracking Abby only to lead to the Rattlers and meeting on the beach? Season four will end at the farmhouse for Ellie, and Catalina island for Abby.....
By that time, we should have the story caught up for Pt 3 in this epic Shakespearean tragedy.

I can see the reasoning behind this, however, I feel like what made those flashbacks especially powerful was knowing that Joel was dead
Also I don't know if there is enough substance and conflict for a whole season from just the stuff before Joel's death
I trust that Neil and Craig will make the right calls though, as pretty much all the changes they made in S1 was for the better

Probably not since Laura Bailey is not around the same age as Abby in the game. Plus, the video already mentioned a look alike who seems to have the potential to portray Abby.

Season 2 predictions:
Ep1-ep3 Ellie and Joel relationships toward confrontation
Ep4-ep6 Abby becoming a threat
Ep7-ep9 Ellie and Joel slowly reconcile after disownment
Episode 10: the attempt (as abby introduces herself and her group first, joel has a sneaking suspicion on why they ask for his name specifically.) And then after that season 3 comes around and abby's intentions are made clear to joel. Now he has to face (or rather fight) against the consequences of his actions and try to maintain his crumbling relation with ellie.
Theyre still following the game, they aren’t just gonna change the fact that Joel isn’t in the game that much they still have to tell that story.
What they need to do is structure it differently from how the horrible game was structured. Non-gamers can't know about the killing of Abby's friends and then see them in a number of episodes where they are alive again. They are gonna be like, 'WTF is this!?' Why should we care about these characters if we already know they die? They'll need to go back and forth between Ellie and Abby's stories and then have them come together at the right time. That way, we'll understand both stories equally and be connected to all the characters.
The way the game was structured was a PIECE OF SHIT!!
Playing the second game taught me that there are no heroes or villains only people trying to survive.

Meanwhile the first game had generic bad guys with deep manly voices who dont have backpacks and flashlights to signify they arent "main characters of their story" and are just waiting to be killed by the player. Not to mention they're less likely to scream in pain.

I have no problem with Abby. What I have a problem with is being forced to play as her for half of the game, when it was consistently being presented as "Ellie's story" or "Ellie's game". This is what the majority of people hated so much

I think they should have season 2 focused on Ellie, and then have season 3 focus on Abby's point of view with Ellie as the bad guy.
I think it should be the other way around. Season 2 should focus on Abby, and season 3 on elie.
Let’s not make the same mistake we did in the game with doing it Ellie then Abby because if they do that i will pray for the soul of Abby’s actress as the amount of hate she will be getting will be unparamounted.

I am one of the people that didn’t like the direction of the second video game. But I think if it’s true that they plan on fleshing out the story across 2 seasons, they will have the opportunity to earn the story that they tell. Over time I have come to appreciate the story a bit more and I think fleshing out the story would work.

You could just bring in the OG voice actress of Abby. Sure you can bring in someone who can play the part or look the part well but who better than the one who played her in the first place to play her? She did show up as a nurse in the show as a cameo so why not make her Abby as well?
Age, primarily. She's been in the industry acting professionally as an adult since the early 2000s with her first notable role being Full Metal Alchemist's Lust in 2003. That's right, twenty years ago. Meanwhile Abby is portrayed as much closer to Ellie's age in universe, which is late teens early 20s. Even the best deaging technology nowadays cannot make a woman in her early 40s look believably like she's in her early 20s.

I felt that season 1 could have also been broken into two seasons and given us more time with each of the characters for example we could have had a bit more time with Tess, Joel and Ellie...
We could have had more time with Henry and Sam which could have made season 1 last for two seasons thus I think breaking part 2 of the games story into multiple seasons vs cramming everything into one is a cool idea if done well.
I think overall season one was great I think this is partially due to the fact that the majority of fans love the first games story including the DLC, but I recall a lot of negative backlash over the second game which has me a bit nervous for the second season.
I didn't disliked the second game I was simply frustrated with some of the pacing and story elements but overtime my appreciation of the second game grew, I enjoy the second game...
I also enjoy watching play throughs of the second game as with the first game hence I really hope whatever adjustments are made to the story in season 2 land well, I want this series to last at least 3 or 4 seasons.
It's a bummer we have to wait almost 2 years to watch the next season, but hopefully the extra time will help the creators of the show do the best work they can.
Yeah the pacing of part 2 kinda goes like this:
"Ok so i guess its gonna be a fucking teenage soap opera, great."
"Alright so ellie is gay, i mean i already know that but you're kinda pushing it a little too much. I barely even know who dina even is."
"Oh, a new character! AND SHE GETS TO MEET JOEL? SO LUCKY- and she just killed him."

So. The Last of Us 2 had great game play but a terribly unsatisfying story. The soul of the story is taken away early on. Characters are elevated, and others diminished in such a way that it absolutely destroys what made the first game so special. I've played games for a long time, but this was absolutely one of the most disappointing turns I have ever witnessed.
I haven't played the game so here is my pitch For season Two
They go back to jackson only to find out it was attacked by infected hence Tommy has left
Or The Jackson people got Attacked by infected and Then Tommy told them about Ellie being infected hence People thinking it was Ellie who brought the fungus and bit One of them

Espeshaly for Abby’s group as a lot of them were bruisers or high level veterans. None of Abby main group were pushovers, even the weakest of the group were highly trained veterans or specialists.
Plus as season 2 is probably primarily going to be focused on their development all so we care about them when they die brutally in season 3. We need good strong actors and actresses to portray them because its going to be really hard to make the casts monsters for season 3 withought some stellar actors and writing from season 2

Katy M’ OBrian is the best choice for Abby IMO. Every choice made by those fans on this list with the exception of the last choice…was awful and I hope they don’t choose any of them.
I think it should be MBB. Fits all the criteria and is more than capable of delivering in a lead role.

I thought most shows now have new seasons every 2 years, so I was shocked to learn that Vox Machina's 2nd season came out in January this year. Totally missed it. I think a 2 year gap would allow Bella Ramsey to look a bit older without anything to make her look younger, but to look at the right age (she's be 21 years pold pre-September 30th).
Paolina van Kleef looks enough like Dina, so it could work.
Emma D'Arcy is way too old to play Abby, who is only a few years older than Ellie, turning 31 this year. Sure, "movie magic," but I want a bit more authenticity. Shannon Berry has a better resembalnce and is closer in age to Bella/Ellie.

I was very impressed with the screen adaptation and hopefully we don't have a another real life pandemic while waiting, I played both parts of the multi award winning video game and I hear a part 3 is in the works one voice actor I noticed on the video game is Laura Bailey doing the part of abbey, she also did serana on skyrim and many others, look great things take time so HBO make this wait worth it

I still feel the season isn't perfect. The season finale proved me that the story was rushed.
Not gonna spoil it, but I think Abby's story line should be mostly season 2 and then transition to Ellie's revenge. They can add flashbacks to see what happened from last season to that moment. Through out season 2 and 3.
Love the addition of Jeffery Wright to the show, he's always excellent. Hope the show doesn't go down the path of the Walking Dead and becomes overblown. The Last of Us has great writing and character development. The characters are all too human.

I really hope they handle the storyline of Part II better than they did in the game. Don't get me wrong the game wasn't horrible by any means and it had its moments, but my god that execution was terrible.
I disagree, I thought they executed it really well, people were just salty about Joel’s death and making them play as Abby but doing so was imperative to the overall story and progression
@@vincew4297You have a different opinion and I totally respect that. But I felt as though Abbey and her friends weren't full flushed out characters and were rather one dimensional. I had no issues with Joel's death and from a narrative perspective I'm not sure anyone didn't see it coming, but I think it should have come later in the story.
The flashback sequences and transitions also made the game feel that much longer; and while many were enjoyable (mainly Joel/Ellie), they seemed crammed in and brought everything to a crawl after some pretty tense sequences. There were also way too many character's who did incredibly stupid things or "convenient" interactions that drove the plot along, which made it feel very contrived. Probably the most interesting chapter involved the island assault between the WLFs and Seraphites, which was thrilling from start to finish. Unfortunately there are only hints of greatness there and it didn't stick the landing.
@@heretics1987 I respect your opinion too but there’s a reason why these writers get the paid the way they do, we’re not writers and there’s more that goes into the planning and strategizing for these story arches than we can understand. I hear many people who keep saying his death should’ve came later but for what? Why delay the inevitable? Like Ellie said after Joel’s death “Joel made a lot of enemies over the years” and in this instance it finally caught up to him.
I think they wanted to push the story arch for Ellie more and how his death would cause a ripple and domino effect for everyone who knew and loved him. I think people just tend to get salty regardless when the main character for a show gets killed off but it happens to open up evolutionary stories for the other characters involved. It might not be the ending everyone wanted but that’s not the writers jobs to give us satisfactory storytelling throughout its normal that some parts may be amiss but it doesn’t change how well I feel like they executed the storyline
@@vincew4297 Personally I think leaving Joel's death until later would have given the story more time to breathe and allowed the audience to reestablish its connection to the character. You have to remember that most people had been waiting for years to continue the story and there would have been some disconnect even from the most diehard fans. The death itself also felt unearned and more like it was used for shock value then to kickstart the narrative. Like I said I think most people anticipated him to die at some point, they just didn't like how it was handled and rightly so.
I would also like to point out that I am in fact a writer who is currently in the process of being published. And while I may not be as established as someone who works for naughty dog, I most certainly understand the intricacies and complexity of crafting a good story. I have spent hundreds of hours editing chapters to create better flow and structure, so I can appreciate what they were attempting here. But LOU has always been a game driven by its characters and compelling story, and for the creative decisions they made to work Part II needed to have a flawless execution. But it was far from flawless and riddled with convenient coincidences and stupid character decisions for the sake of driving the plot.
Again Abbey and her friends were kind of done an injustice and felt so one dimensional and lacking any real substance. There was the pregnant lady, guy who lives at the aquarium/old flame and of course the playboy; all superficial characters that we as an audience are meant to connect with just because they play fetch with a dog. I understand what they were getting at but there wasn't enough time given to flush them out as anything more than overdeveloped NPCs which hurt the experience. There was just too much jammed in there to do them any justice, which is disappointing. Look, there is a reason LOU Part II is so divisive and you can't just blame it all on bigots or crybabies because I am neither. It is an imperfect game with hints of greatness sprinkled here and there, and I hope the TV series deviates ever so slightly to better flush out the story.

Big difference between someone who’s established and been doing this for years and someone’s who still working and aspiring to be one eventually. My sister has been writing books for years but I wouldn’t qualify her as someone who could comment on the work of writers that have been doing so at a high level for 25-30 years on the biggest stages. Either way my point is I’m sure there were countless conversations among the writers, production team, and Neil Druckmann, the LOU Director over the years from the first LOU to the second that I’m sure came into play to come up with the story they did.
LOU2 is significantly longer than LOU1 it takes about 24-30 hours to complete the second game as opposed to first LOU which takes only about 15 hours so they obviously spent more time on the second storyline, however you have to understand to get the video game models and visuals along with the voice actors together without everyone having conflicting schedules and the deadlines they had in place they probably used the second as an opportunity to wrap up the story so they probably had to change the story and move things along quicker as a result.
Many of these video games run on what they call “crunch time” which is when the entire team works an overwhelming about of OT hours to get the storyline done within their deadline. Sometimes you don’t always have the luxury of being able to do everything you want from a storytelling perspective when you’re under a time crunch like that. Given the fact that they had to create a whole host of new characters and story arches I feel like they did a better job than people have been giving them credit for
