I’m doing CA and I’m currently at level 2 please do I still need a bookkeeping training to start the side business or I should take my knowledge and experience from what I’ve already learned in my first level, and currently in 2nd level to start. And also any recommendations on major topics to know as a bookkeeper
Hi there, take your experience and start with a client, once you start working with someone you will quickly see what else you need to learn or brush up on. If you are a full charge bookkeeper offering your services to clients you should definitely be familiar with how to import/download transactions, how to match them and how to reconcile bank accounts. You should also have a good month end checklist you can reference each month to make sure you don't miss anything. lastly, get familiar with creating your financial reports package with some financial summary highlights to share with your customer.
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. I do offer one on one strategy calls that can be used for on-demand coaching: which I offer to help with specific questions/issues. Hi V, new subscriber here. once i finish these training that were mentioned in the video, should i take further training or go for certifications? Thanks
Once you go through the trainings and get clarity around the service you want to start offering and the clients you want to offer your services to, you should focus on getting your first client to continue practicing and fine tuning your processes while continuing your education. Don't post pone gettng that first client, nothing beats real life experience.
Hey V! I have a question. I currently have a full time job but want to gain experience with bookkeeping so I can gain enough clients to make enough with my own business. How can I apply for the part time jobs? Some say need to be a 1099 contractor. I would not be eligible for those would I?
Hi, when an employer/company says you need to be a 1099 contractor, that is great, because it means they are not looking to hire an employee, but rather, *they are looking to hire someone who has their own business such as a consultant, a contractor, a self employed bookkeeper who can perform the bookkeeping and invoice them for the work. This is what you want!* As long as you can perform the task, you may want to get a contract (I have one available if you need one), and set yourself up to invoice them for the work performed. Does this answer your question?
