You know... Seeing Amanozako as the alternative to Demi-Fiend's pixie has me wondering what others would make sense as alternatives (that is, others that are actually in the game. Sorry, Tam Lin.) So, I devised a small list of sorts... Something for you flavour-lovers out there. Would they be viable? Probably not. Do I care? No. :) ANYWAYS: Chu Chullain -> Fionn Mac Cumhaill Girimehkala -> Ganesha Pixie -> Amanozako Cerberus -> Orthrus Thor -> Surt Jack Frost -> Pyro Jack Parvati -> Kali? (They're said to be related in some way, soooo)
The best part about SMT5 is any demon can be viable, as stat incenses and skill sets are farmable. Not to mention you can downfuse strong demons paired with certain miracles to get them higher stats than they would normally have at level 99 (i'm planning on doing this for any future ideas I have) Also about the canon team thing, your ideas are pretty good! For me, it'd probably go something like this: Cu = Fionn (obvious one) Giri = Probably something like Gogamagog or Oyamatsumi Pixie = Amanozako (another obvious one) Cerb = Hayataro Thor = Artemis Jack Frost = Nahobeeho Parvati = Nuwa, Cleopatra or Kushinada-Hime I think they'd probably lean into the Susano-o aspect of Nahobino/Aogami and give his team some important demons from that aspect
I love the demon haunt bench in the thumbnail, it looks like they're deciding who gets to use it lmao. Edit: Also, using charge before a Periapt Skill was genius. Edit 2: That ending LMAOOO, I love how Cu Chulainn closed his eyes, as if passing the torch. Thanks for such an amazing video
Now that I think about it gae bolg is pretty insane for the demi fiend fight. With crit zealot it gains a base power of 300, 35 pts higher than zanbarion and it’s more accurate and it pierces and he also he has a natural resist phys so you only have to invest one slot for resistances this demon is insane for demi fiend holy shit, it’s like having a Zeus for force element
Ngl, I was half expecting Nahobino protag to cast Gaia Rage or Moonlight Frost as a way of punishing Demi-Fiend for failing to kill off one of his allies after 6 actions 💀
Funnily enough in some of my first attempts at this I wanted to use gaea rage and chaotic will (that's why if you look my naho has +9 in ailments lol) but it wasn't consistent enough for me, Gaea rage is still 100+ MP at +9 and it wasn't doing enough damage to be worth it.
It 100% is a lot fairer, both this and the Satan boss fight are. What makes DDS Demi-fiend RNG reliant is the 'intended' way you're meant to avoid gaea rage which is when pixie/parvati casts dormina, you're supposed to use a skill that makes you avoid all damage while asleep but it has a good chance to not even hit
I know technically this battle is supposed to mirror the squad of demons Demi Fiend has but it would’ve been funnier if there was a Black Frost on his team. I mean I can just imagine if the devs added some secret interaction between the Black Frost from Smt 3 Nocturne (you can find him in a side quest of sort) and Demi Fiend seeing some other Black Frost replace him lol.
I know chuchulain is there because its a mirror match and demi fiend also has chuchulainn, but i think it would be more accurate (way harder to do too) to have chuchulain be replaced with fionn mac cumhail because he's technically someone in celtic lore the successor of chuchulainn in a way, but i know that makes this NOT a true mirror match if you replace too many demons, anyways i wonder who nahobino's true final team is? Based on game quest ect,
Yeah I felt I was already stretching the idea a bit by replacing Pixie with Amanozako but I think your idea would've been good too! His final team would def include a lot of fan favourites from V: Idun, Artemis, Fionn, Nuwa, maybe some classics like Odin or Decarabia.
I thinl these would be the perfect counters: Pixie - Amanozako. Cu chulainn - Fionn Mc Cumhall. Grimekala - Lahmu/Arioch/Abdiel dark. Thor - Odin/Zeus/Khonsu/Artemisa Cerberus - Hydra. Jack Frost - Mermaid/Anahita or now Nahobeeho. Parvati - Demeter/Danu or now Sakuya.
God this video is so fucking cool, as much as I like the cheese strats bc of how funny they are, this is gotta be the most stylish way of fighting him. I wonder how many attempts this took. Also as said by many others, the editing is fucking superb. Like I wonder what other turn based rpgs would look like in this editing style.
Thank you so much! I love the cheese strat vids since they demonstrate how amazing (and broken) mixing and matching demons with innate skills are. It's just part of the fun but I personally opt not to use them since I enjoy the back and forth with bosses and slowly widdling them down This took me quite a few attempts, one of which I choked super hard and lost when he had a sliver of hp left and it was only protag and amanozako left on the field. Not my finest moment. The kind words have been really encouraging so once again thank you!!
Not looking forward to when they make Nahobino a future fight in the series. If they have amanozako able to reverse debuffs like in Vengeance especially. Should be really fun to seen Fionn buffed though since Mac En Luin sucks as it doesn't guaranty pierce or crits and i would imagine Bino's team using their signature moves when they have that.
@@blackquill7767 Facts. His innate doesn't even synergize with his kit either. I still made him a figment spammer cause figment slash can do wonders for any demon with physical skill proficiency.
@@dave9515 If you want prob the best figment slash spammer in the game, if you make a party with Cu and put Scathach in the party - her figment slash literally can never miss because of her innate. Let me say that is BUSTED. I beat both Demi-fiend and Satan using these two as main damage dealers.
@@blackquill7767 Holy cow that is busted. I never really thought about that. Currently grinding for teambuilding for the sim and i wanna try that now. Chu chullain can gae bolg and debilitate, Scathach just spams figment slash, Sakuya or Tao heals/Lustercandy, and Bino just deals damage with stuff like murakumo or gaea rage.
@@dave9515 Give Scathach impaler's and nothing will stand in her way, let the crits rain. Another perk of using those two is you get access to Raging Whirlwind which is what I used a lot in the superboss fights.
@@MrOdaddy2011 You need to find and talk to a Setanta demon NPC - he'll give you the item you need for it. In canon of creation you can find him in Chiyoda, in the area past where Surt was In canon of vengeance you can find him in Shinjuku, I think he's near a leyline fount somewhere. Just look for speech icons on the map and you'll find him eventually
That was really good! But I have one question: Why didn't you just switch Amanozako out and back in when you got debuffed to reverse it for free? (Is it simply because she won't have the buff that way?)
I actually did think about that a few times but in my head I'm thinking it's quicker to just remove it with a dekunda stone. In one of my attempts I did do that though and it worked good! Also thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it
@blackquill7767 for some reason instead of using null phys using resist physical meant he would _only_ go for javelin rain, never once will he use gaia rage. This was effectively the biggest loophole of the demi fiend
That's a fair point, I had entirely planned to cycle through my team if anybody had went down (And in previous attempts they did). I did spend most of the fight with the same team, only really cycling between Giri and Cerb I'll consider this if I ever do another similar video to this one but a lot of it just comes down to how the fight plays out when I'm recording it; I thought this one had some cool moments and accomplished what I wanted it to which was my goal at the end of the day. The only other thing worth mentioning is his demons have a lot more health than mine and If I'd matched his demons (E.g I bring out Jack Frost when he does) I'd be at a disadvantage because I wouldn't be able to deal with their weaknesses effectively. It's still possible though and ultimately it's a fair criticism no matter what. I hope you enjoyed the video regardless of that though!
It's usually a fighting game term that means when two opponents fight using the exact same character. In this context - I'm only using demons that Demi-fiend uses with the exception of Amanozako.
the demi fiend in my battle crit 80% of the time with his frei lol, dealing about 800hp on every single of my demons lmao, I kat believe he almost hardly crit in here lol
From what I've observed, crits seem to be heavily affected by level/luck - since all my demons are 99 and have decent luck I think that played a big role in why his freikugel wasn't critting as often. I did also bump up their vitality using incenses a tad, I wanted each demon to have at least 100 vitality, I remember when I was experimenting my Jack Frost who had like 80/85 vitality went down extremely quickly
because that's the mechanic for Demi-Fiend Superboss fight here, if you ignore his demons, he will cast Gaea Rage, skill that have a lot of Damage & pierced, so you must kill at least 1 of his demons every 6 turns, he has 7 demons in his stock & every time you kill 1 of his demons he will summon his next demons from that pool
How can you call this a mirror match when your not even using pixie instead of amanozako it literally throws the mirror match idea out of the window when you don't even use the same demons as your opponent
Yeah I mean it's a fair criticism but the reason I used Amanozako instead of Pixie is because she essentially takes that roll thematic wise which I thought was a lot more interesting It is bending the idea of a mirror match, but only slightly. I get why you might not be a fan of the idea, that's totally fine.
Not effective bild, during fight he casted chaotic will no less then 5 times, 1 cast got you, if something goes wrong -you could be already dead. Still, it was good work, you deserve like for sure🤌
Well to be honest effectiveness was never the name of the game with this. I was more so interested in finding out if I could pull this off and with a bit of luck in my favour I managed to do so, without a single demon dying as well If I'd have skipped mediarahan the fight would've been over much quicker and would've (imo) been more boring to watch so I always try to power through the mediarahan since I like the extra challenge. Thank you for your comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
I like how you have Amanozako as the faithful companion to Demi Fiend's Pixie.

So, I devised a small list of sorts... Something for you flavour-lovers out there. Would they be viable? Probably not. Do I care? No. :)
ANYWAYS:
Chu Chullain -> Fionn Mac Cumhaill
Girimehkala -> Ganesha
Pixie -> Amanozako
Cerberus -> Orthrus
Thor -> Surt
Jack Frost -> Pyro Jack
Parvati -> Kali? (They're said to be related in some way, soooo)
The best part about SMT5 is any demon can be viable, as stat incenses and skill sets are farmable. Not to mention you can downfuse strong demons paired with certain miracles to get them higher stats than they would normally have at level 99 (i'm planning on doing this for any future ideas I have)
Also about the canon team thing, your ideas are pretty good! For me, it'd probably go something like this:
Cu = Fionn (obvious one)
Giri = Probably something like Gogamagog or Oyamatsumi
Pixie = Amanozako (another obvious one)
Cerb = Hayataro
Thor = Artemis
Jack Frost = Nahobeeho
Parvati = Nuwa, Cleopatra or Kushinada-Hime
I think they'd probably lean into the Susano-o aspect of Nahobino/Aogami and give his team some important demons from that aspect
Thank you for such a kind comment!!!
Also I'm glad you liked the ending, I'm amazed at how it turned out too
Now that I think about it gae bolg is pretty insane for the demi fiend fight. With crit zealot it gains a base power of 300, 35 pts higher than zanbarion and it’s more accurate and it pierces and he also he has a natural resist phys so you only have to invest one slot for resistances this demon is insane for demi fiend holy shit, it’s like having a Zeus for force element
Pierce and crit together on 1 skill is also huge because it means all cu needs is charge. No impalers or crit aura/crit magasu skill needed
@@blackquill7767 understandable 💀
Plot twist the Demi fiend just stands after that than just nukes you
This video reminded me on how much i mossed nocturnes ost.
This fight looks so much more fair than DDS's Demi-Fiend. That one is pretty much entirely luck-based, even if you use the optimal strat.
This is like watching Game 7 of a Finals game
There should have been the opportunity for some adversarial Pixie vs Amanozako banter if you brought her to this fight.
May I just say that the Raging Whirlwind at 8:26 and the Gae Bolg that follows go super well together?
I thinl these would be the perfect counters:
Pixie - Amanozako.
Cu chulainn - Fionn Mc Cumhall.
Grimekala - Lahmu/Arioch/Abdiel dark.
Thor - Odin/Zeus/Khonsu/Artemisa
Cerberus - Hydra.
It's just part of the fun but I personally opt not to use them since I enjoy the back and forth with bosses and slowly widdling them down
This took me quite a few attempts, one of which I choked super hard and lost when he had a sliver of hp left and it was only protag and amanozako left on the field.
They did my man dirty in Vengeance - they should've given his unique pierce or something.
26:25 PEAK
Very happy with that moment! Glad you liked it
@@blackquill7767do you know where to find raging whirlwind in vengeance . I can't find it anywhere
@@MrOdaddy2011 You need to find and talk to a Setanta demon NPC - he'll give you the item you need for it.
In canon of creation you can find him in Chiyoda, in the area past where Surt was
In canon of vengeance you can find him in Shinjuku, I think he's near a leyline fount somewhere.
Just look for speech icons on the map and you'll find him eventually
Now do this with each demon being a counterpart to Demi Fiend's Team(Ex: Mara instead of Grimekhala and keep Amanozako instead of Pixie)
Since making this I've had a bunch of ideas, I shall add this one to the pile!
I'm glad you enjoyed it
Goes hard
Awesome video! The editing is amazing, I thought the game had a replay feature lol
Thank you! A replay feature certainly would've saved me a lot of time
...huh.
Guess they finally fixed the javelin rain code
Was it bugged in the Switch version?
@blackquill7767 for some reason instead of using null phys using resist physical meant he would _only_ go for javelin rain, never once will he use gaia rage.
This was effectively the biggest loophole of the demi fiend
@@tsyumamatsuthehavenofguard32 Damn, I'd never heard about that.
Thanks for answering!
Honestly, the lack of swapping whenever the Demi-Fiend had to bring in a new ally feels like it kinda defeats the purpose of a "Mirror Match"
That's a fair point, I had entirely planned to cycle through my team if anybody had went down (And in previous attempts they did). I did spend most of the fight with the same team, only really cycling between Giri and Cerb
I'll consider this if I ever do another similar video to this one but a lot of it just comes down to how the fight plays out when I'm recording it; I thought this one had some cool moments and accomplished what I wanted it to which was my goal at the end of the day.
What mean mirror match?
It's usually a fighting game term that means when two opponents fight using the exact same character. In this context - I'm only using demons that Demi-fiend uses with the exception of Amanozako.
@@blackquill7767 I see, thanks
the demi fiend in my battle crit 80% of the time with his frei lol, dealing about 800hp on every single of my demons lmao, I kat believe he almost hardly crit in here lol
I have to know what your build for Cu Chulainn is.
All of the builds are listed at the end of the fight, time code is in the description!
Amanozaco es la Pixie del Nahobino no?
sí 👍
Why does he summon incapacitated allies?
Because he is the Demifiend and is has to be broken 😅
At least that's all he does in this game
In Digital Devil Saga, his demons will go "lol RECARMDRA" if you ignore them for too long.
because that's the mechanic for Demi-Fiend Superboss fight here, if you ignore his demons, he will cast Gaea Rage, skill that have a lot of Damage & pierced, so you must kill at least 1 of his demons every 6 turns, he has 7 demons in his stock & every time you kill 1 of his demons he will summon his next demons from that pool
What kind of stinks you can only have the demi-fiend as a guest not as a fusion
How can you call this a mirror match when your not even using pixie instead of amanozako it literally throws the mirror match idea out of the window when you don't even use the same demons as your opponent
Yeah I mean it's a fair criticism but the reason I used Amanozako instead of Pixie is because she essentially takes that roll thematic wise which I thought was a lot more interesting
It is bending the idea of a mirror match, but only slightly.
I was more so interested in finding out if I could pull this off and with a bit of luck in my favour I managed to do so, without a single demon dying as well
If I'd have skipped mediarahan the fight would've been over much quicker and would've (imo) been more boring to watch so I always try to power through the mediarahan since I like the extra challenge.
Thank you for your comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
