Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance - Four Heavenly Kings vs Masakado

While in the process of grinding up the four kings to level 99, a horrible thought occured to me. "Who's gonna be tanking the damage in this fight? None of the kings have stats suitable for it"
Then it dawned on me.
The solution to almost every problem in SMT5
"Fine. I'll do it myself." (I do not recommend you do this, unless you want to PAY WITH YOUR LIFE!!!)
This was done on Hard with a NG+ CoV to CoC save file. The strat was heavily inspired by a strat done by @YurificationTrademark in their low level Masakado video. They reminded me that Makarakarn actually exists LOL.

Many others have already mentioned your awesome editing, so I want to applaud your dedication and game skills instead. I relied on so many special demons and broken skills and even that took me so much time both in fight and preparation. Yet here you are, managing such a difficult fight in the coolest way possible. You even have all the other demons ready in your stock just in case. I can't even imagine how long that preparation took. Amazing work, truly!

so how come you used okuninushi? is it bc of the hare of inaba quest or is it smth else? great video btw, it inspired me to do a playthrough of this game where all these demons are gonna be the main focus (and also min max the hell out of them without the funny godborn strat)
I put Okuninushi in there because of the two quest-lines he's involved in. Those being Hare of Inaba and the Kunitsu related ones. Ngl though the idea to include him came from a certain piece of art that was released in famitsu to celebrate vengeance. It's a cover art with Naho, Kushinada, Amanozako, Okuninushi and Take-Minakata. I wanted to include some of them! If you wanna see the cover just google smt5 vengeance famitsu cover Thank you! Not effective bild, during fight he casted chaotic will no less then 5 times, 1 cast got you, if something goes wrong -you could be already dead. Still, it was good work, you deserve like for sure🤌
Well to be honest effectiveness was never the name of the game with this. I was more so interested in finding out if I could pull this off and with a bit of luck in my favour I managed to do so, without a single demon dying as well If I'd have skipped mediarahan the fight would've been over much quicker and would've (imo) been more boring to watch so I always try to power through the mediarahan since I like the extra challenge. I was losing my shit when that happened, it was literally the worst possible time to have something like that happen. I might've tilted it in my favour by weakening her to really low HP because I'm like 50% sure Satan prioritises the demon with the most HP when absorbing. Not with 100% consistency but it def seems that way. Thank you for your kind comment!!

@@MrOdaddy2011 You need to find and talk to a Setanta demon NPC - he'll give you the item you need for it. In canon of creation you can find him in Chiyoda, in the area past where Surt was In canon of vengeance you can find him in Shinjuku, I think he's near a leyline fount somewhere. Just look for speech icons on the map and you'll find him eventually

Diarama is used for every element for wich he is hit by. You used fire, ice and wind, he will not use those dracostrikes and uses diarama instead.
Ohhh so that's what causes it? Damn. Now I know that and in retrospect making him weak to everything is sorta like bait in it's own way if you factor that in. Thank you so much for that, it's gonna be really helpful for me if I do any other Masakado ideas.
@@blackquill7767 I am not 100% sure but it seems likely since he started using ice dracostrike when Jikokuten left the party. The one that discovered this was omegaevolution. He also said that drain/repel.null his dracostrikes will cause that attack to become Freikugel.
@@cubeblast Yeah that seems to check out, in my very first winning run against Masakado - I was using phys and almighty attacks mostly and I had a taunt Shiva who drained/nulled everything; near the end of the fight he was getting freikugel'd like 4+ times in a row lol. I might do a bit of testing and see if I can make him spam diarama for his whole turn or something. That'd be funny
Lmaoo so I just did a quick test - I put all elemental moves spread across all 4 party members And sure enough, he spent all 5 of his moves on diarama. Holy moly.
@@blackquill7767I think Recalcitrant Execution just replaces his first action when he gets low enough. Also, his pattern "shifts" once to the left each time he gathers Magatsuhi. This is why he stopped using Brave Blade as his first action and started using Fire Dracostrike.
This is the first time I see masakado use Diarama 3 times in a row. Ouch.. Edit: You really know how to change the music to your favor lmao, it got me really hyped
I love me some SMT music what can I say. Glad you liked it!! 😄 Yeah about the diarama spam, I'm not sure if it's just bad luck or if something in my set up was causing it because his AI seems to behave differently based on party resistances. I had drain phys on everyone but protag and I noticed he never even went for them with brave blade a single time and in my very first time beating this boss my tank was a Shiva who nulled everything and this made Masakado spam freikugel like 4 times in a row whereas in this fight he'd only use it once or twice.
I think Michael would’ve made a good pick as he and Satan once had a 1v1 and Michael stomped the hell out of Satan. But tbf, this Satan and that Satan are very different from each other so I’m just blubbering, still would’ve been cool.
That's actually Lucifer you're thinking of, since he's the angel who tried to rebel and was cast out by Michael after losing to him in combat It's thanks to SMT lore videos I learned there's a difference between the two. Satan is just a hebrew word for adversary or something like that, which is why his SMT5 theme is called 'The Adversary'
True, but this Satan’s design is based off of the Red Dragon in Revelation, with the 7 heads and 10 horns.
Sometimes I can't believe SMT IV and V have the same composer... The quality disparity between soundtracks is huge
I think both OSTs have their merits but I must admit I like them for different reasons and SMTIV's has better overworld themes (not just tokyo but the areas as well)

Alice just being on every protag's team is just the correct thing to do. She deserves so much. Also Chad Fiend being the best he is as always. I hope smt 6 we can summon the Embryon team aka Serph and friends.
I decided to have Alice on the team for two reasons Her new sidequest in Vengeance was actually kinda sad and it gave me a new perspective on her as a demon. Before I just saw her as the "haha funny die for me" demon. She still is that but with a bit more to it But I also gave her a spot on the team because she's the navigator who made this fight possible since she was invaluable for finding gems and other useful stuff. If you were ever curious what navigator I had during the various item grinding sessions it was Alice. (Also I so want a DDS superboss fight, Atlus PLEASE)
@@blackquill7767 oh I didnt know she had a sidequest. The only ither smt I knew that has an Alice sidequest was raidou while ds2 she was the ng+ super boss I plan to get the game soon so I cant wait to see her sidequest

Thank you! This is def the most time I've spent with MC as a supporting role, one of the big reasons I started doing support naho is because it frees up crucial skill slots for demons. His huge MP pool and access to all support potentials make him a way better choice for the role instead of a demon. I'm sure you've probably noticed I always have luster candy on MC and this is because I feel like having it on demons means they have to stay in the battle and burn through their MP faster than usual. My suggestion is try incorporating the MP skill that lets naho pass his turn without any cost, it's really good for minmaxing damage dealers hitting weaknesses or passing to a demon with a skill you really need to use like mediarahan for example.
Can you do fighting Demi-Fiend with only the Fiends?
I'll def be considering that one, as well as another Demi-fiend related one. It's on the list of ideas that's for sure! Thanks for the suggestion

100% agree, innate skills have opened so many doors and realms of possibilty Hell I beat Demi-Fiend and Satan by utilizing two specific characters and their innates (Cu and Scathach). Thanks for the kind words as well 😄
@blackquill7767 that's awesome. I myself am working on privately doing hard demi with the paw-to-paw combat demons. It's not a huge damage increase but I thought it'd be fun.
