Within 6 months my left side started growing a goiter. My physician recommended removing the rest of my thyroid. There was a tumor hiding and turned out to be malignant. I had papillary thyroid cancer. I had radioactive iodine. 7 years of remission. Btw I never had a follow up scan because I was going through a divorce and had to beg my ex husband to prolong the divorce so I would have insurance for the RAI. When I was sick- he found himself a girlfriend. 18 years gone down the drain. That was 7 years ago. Now I'm having a time with my body not wanting to absorb the levothyroxine.
I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm waiting on surgery to remove all of my thyroid and grapefruit sized goitre on my right. I hate it!! Its not nice to look at... for me anyway. How long did it take you to recover? eat? They said i will have a 6-7 inch scar around the bottom of neck. Really nervous about it all x

Stop spreading misinformation. Its the lack of IODINE in your diet which is the main cause of goiter . There are many sources of iodine , fish being one of them but dont say all iodine comes from fish
