I have had my Lyriq for about a month now and absolutely love it! I test drove the Tesla Model Y a few times before taking delivery of my Lyriq, all though the Tesla was much more fun to drive the interior was a deal breaker for me. The inside of the Lyriq looks gorgeous inside and rides so smooth.
I love these family reviews that you all do with non Tesla brands. I feel like you're totally fair and honest with each vehicle and you don't hold back criticism where needed, which is refreshing! Thanks for the video!
My wife just got the 2024 Lyriq. While it's great, it's currently already in the shop. One pedal driving isn't working, among other things. We got the 2023 Lyriq as a loaner and THAT ONE's one pedal driving broke, as well as google maps not working. It also complained about other issues, which I can't remember at the moment. I told my wife this might be the case, since it's such a bleeding edge car, but she didn't care and didn't want a Tesla under any circumstances, so here we are.
I think the main difference between the Tesla and the Lyric is ride quality. The Tesla is somewhat noisy and austere. The Lyric is the quietest, smoothest riding car I’ve driven. I consider my Lyric a combination of three cars I’ve loved in the past. My Porsche, my Audi and my LINCOLN CONTINENTAL. It has a responsive ride, lots of zip and lots of luxury … as well reasonable room for a family.
Which Tesla Model are you comparing to? do you want to pay 20-50 thousand more to get these luxurious features? even if you are ready to pay, do you know that there would be so many things that Tesla offers but they do NOT?
My introduction to EV's was a 2012 Chevrolet Volt. It was one of the best cars I ever owned. We bought a new 2021 Model Y. The fits, finish, and build quality were much better on the Chevrolet. The Model Y is a ton more fun to drive. As soon as Cadillac changes their charging system, I would love to test drive one. There is no way a Model Y, X, or S interiors can compare to the luxury of the Lyriq.
Tesla fans must never have owned another car, because the ride comfort in a Model Y is clearly in econobox territory, and the interior noise is worse than some ICE.
I've ridden in a 2020 vette stingray and 2020 gt mustang. Multiple audi types, Lincoln, bmw and I own a 2024 model y. It's double pain windows make it near silent. I don't know how people keep commenting thats it's loud. Simply not the case.
Thanks for doing this real world end-to-end for us! I had no idea they had a Cadillac in this good of shape for an EV, videos like this will help get GM in gear on the charging experience.
Hey Kim! Good News. With an OTA update Tesla changed the emergency door handle to automatically lowering the windows so it is no longer harmful to use it. I would rather just use the button (as Tesla owners know) but if a guest doesn't get the lecture, they will no longer cause problems with the seals! Give it a try now on your Teslas!

@@RenlangRen honestly the lyriq was cool looking but the interior was too busy for me and looked like a windows computer desktop. I went with the X for the familiarity and the confidence in the Tesla supercharger network if traveling long distances. Also the falcon wing doors the best.
You do know GM cars can use the Tesla network right? I can charge my Altria on Teslachargers through the “myCadillac”. I didn’t even need to download the Tesla app.
Nice to see a regular family with kids. Many electric car reviews feature only adults or older kids, but younger children feature unique challenges. The only part you missed in this review was cleaning the car after your trip. :)
The lyriq, is far far more detailed. As far as a frunk it's unnecessary loading and unloading honestly is a chore and the slightest mistake will leave ugly marks on face of any vehicle. Build quality will just about always go to GM over Tesla so would long term dependability after watching so many Tesla disintegrate with just 50k miles.
I never had any issues with charging stations and in my area there are plenty free and paid charging stations. Went from 38% to 80% with a dc fast charging in a little over an hour. Would buy this over a Tesla any day. Love it and recently got a level 2 charger at home. Curious as to why you got home too late to charge…the best time to charge is when you’re sleeping.
VW was told they had to build a EV charging network, they were never told they had to build a good one. Could not ever recommend a CCS vehicle because of this.
100% agree with your assessment of Model Y“luxury” vs Lyriq. The Model Y is most certainly not a luxury vehicle. It is a minimalist tech car that offends my Cadillac driving grandparents in every possible way.
Exactly 😊. New generation of an old generation classic. Gets better aerodynamics than past years but keeps the bling. Gains the smooth and silent benefit of electric power.👍🏽😊
I’ll tell you want I don’t care with this video says about it and I haven’t even watched it yet, but I would take Cadillac any day of the week over a Tesla hands-down no debating needed! L O L
Great video! Absolutely love the Lyriq until you get to public charging. When you buy an EV you also buy into the charging system. Once they are on NACS, and tesla adds a LOT of chargers, things will be in a better spot.
Not comparable. The Lyriq is so much more car. Battery range is far above the 314 mile range on the hwy. It drives like a Caddy. It feels like a Caddy. And the ride quality is superb. I drove them both. The Tesla is OK. The Caddy is fantastic...especially in Nimbus Blue.
In Canada, a fully loaded AWD Lyriq is $88k vs $68k for fully loaded long range Model Y. I like a lot of things about the Lyriq but $20k more is very hard to justify.
My biggest complaint about the Lyriq is that Cadillac bait and switched us from the debut edition onto the “trim levels“. Your car is a level one trim. As you point out, you are missing things like the blue felt liner and you’re also missing the ventilated massage seats, enhanced speakers, and of course: supercruise among other things. The debut edition came with everything. Supposedly the delivery of the level two at the level three trims is being held up because there’s a problem with super cruise programming right now. I believe that what Cadillac should’ve done was simply given us the cars with supercruise deactivated, and then activated it when supercruise was ready for prime time. As expensive as the lyric is all of these cars should have their Heated/ventilated seating and massage included. For the price you’re paying for one of these things you could’ve gotten a fully optioned XT 5 or XT6. I’ve been waiting for my car months beyond what I expected. The delivery to require me to wait. Yesterday I got my level two charger installed onto the side of my house. It’s a J 17 772 plug so I can pretty much use any car even if I needed to use the adapter for a Tesla. The only Tesla uncomfortable in is the Tesla model X or the cyber truck and since they are so much more expensive , I’m forced to stick with Cadillac.
We have a new model S and model X and I would rock that Cadillac any day. Great looking design and love the range. What a great interpretation and staying close to the brand.
Great review! Crazy that I live in a major metropolitan area where I see pretty much all cars... Never have seen a Lyric. Really impressive EV, aside from the road trip charging situation. That would be a deal breaker for me as a family car. Just adopting the NACS plug won't solve the issue. If EA or other charging companies don't fix their support/maintenance of their systems, a plug change isn't going to fix that.
That's because they make just enough of them to comply with environmental regulation. GM is losing tens of thousands foe every vehicle sold. The attractive price is not real it's subsidized by the big gas guzzlers.
Great review. I guess not sure why compare to a Y vs X? As you both said, Y is not luxury. Feels like it is much closer to X than Y making it an amazing value. Mine should be coming soon. Confirmed build month ago.
You’re right. Most people pick on Tesla when it comes to build quality but if you start to really pay attention to other brands you find lots of build quality problems such as big gaps and defects everywhere but no one talks about them as much as Tesla’s. 😣
Telsa build quality is a old solved problem thanks to their mega castings. Sandy Monroe on Tesla panel gaps a few years ago: "So big you can see them from space". Sandy Monroe on Tesla build quality a few months ago: "Rolls Royce/Bentley build quality".
@@tjhouston1280 After having a Tesla, here's who I do not associate with build quality: Subaru (My wife's Forrester is falling apart at 70k miles), GM, Buick, Cadillac, Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, VW.
I preordered the lyriq I loved the way it looks and everything about it I was told the only extra cost would be paint and rims but everything else is standard. The all wheel drive I pre ordered had a price of 62,000 after waiting a whole year Cadillac called me said I'm still a ways away even though I was supposed to get the car like 6 months earlier but they said you can go online and pick trims and price I go online and for the same exact car that was 59,000rear wheel to 62,600all wheel when it came out is now 77,000 something it's complete bullshit yeah you can get the car without fast charging without premium sound without message seats without all wheel drive for 62,000 but now the car is basically 15,000 more then what is was at first so I'm like I was told it would be fully stocked except paint and rim size for 62,000 I understand if now it's 64,000 or whatever but 15,000 grand more after I waited a whole year and the people who got it initially get all options for free no thankyou hope gm goes out of business Ford did the same damn thing to me which is why I went to the lyriq just to wait a year again I waited almost 3 years total from when I first ordered a mach e then switched to lyriq and I get screwed I bought a model y because it was 20,000 cheaper then year before and also gets the rebate again
I just bought a Model Y 2 months ago and considered the Lyriq, but, the price was a little higher, I didn't want the CCS charge headaches and the amount of chrome on the Lyriq, YUK! Would like for GM to put a frunk in the Lyriq, shorten it several inches and get rid of the 1960's chrome and so many lights, that really only appeals to seniors. Otherwise, great car.
I have really become adjusted to the Tesla philosophy of ,”the best part is no part”. The Lyriq seems to have way too much in extra lights and trim, but that is the Cadillac brand and DNA. It looks like they know what their future customers will be happy with and getting on to the superchargers next year 29:40 will be a big deal. With the prevalence of obesity in America the big comfortable seats with massage will draw a lot of attention.😊
After a half century, Cadillac has finally delivered a car that can be considered a luxury vehicle. GM did a good job. The Escalade EV also looks amazing. In comparison, the Model Y feels significantly downscale and austere. But the Y is a premium car, not a luxury vehicle. I especially like the illuminated door handles on the Lyric, which is a huge benefit at night and is a much better design than the Model Y. The range of the Lyric isn’t surprising since the battery is nearly 30% larger. It’s even larger than the one in the Model X but is a much smaller car. GM uses LG as their battery supplier, and it isn’t known to be great battery tech. As for the front trunk, our friend who just bought a Lyric assumed it would have one. They have a ski boat, and would love to have a front trunk to put damp items. I use the frunk in my Model X for food items, especially for takeout that smells, and in the winter where groceries can stay cold. GM should offer a front trunk even if “most people” don’t use it, because it would justify the otherwise inefficient design of the front end. Lyric’s acceleration is quick for those who are coming from a gas car, but much slower compared to what Tesla offers. Overall though, the Lyriq is an amazing deal. It gives you a lot for your money, and no buyer would need to make excuses as to why they chose it.
Electrify America is the epitome of disaster when it comes to DC fast charging. If you can find a charger that works, I assure you it won’t be delivering 250 - 350 kWh of charge. The fastest I’ve ever gotten was around 60 -80 kWh. Most times 35-37 kWh is what you can expect. Worst customer service too if they answer the phone that is. 😢
Electrify America was a result of the settlement the government made with Volkswagen after they were found to have emissions cheating devices on their cars to give them better emissions than what they actually had. So they had to pay a big bunch of billions into a fund which created Electrify America. It is no surprise that they have no interest in making a better product or service. It's not to their benefit to spend any more than the settlement on Electrify America.
You nailed it. The price is way higher than a Model Y and you get the terrible CCS charging experience. But maybe one more thing. Tesla is making a good profit on their EVs, while Cadillac is losing buckets of money on the Lyriq. Besides BYD, everyone else is losing lots of money on EVs. Maybe this is not important to the consumer, but it should be. What would a bankruptcy do to getting these cars serviced?
@@777Outrigger yeah. That's what they say. If Tesla would warranty them for that long, I'd believe it. At this point, I feel the jury is still out. Not nearly enough data points to either confirm nor to refute their claims. I'm a glass half-empty guy until proven otherwise 😎. And since they just announced that they are reneging on the lifetime charging for some of the earlier models, I'm even more skeptical of any of Electric Jesus' claims. The man is brilliant, and I think he'd be extremely interesting to converse with, but he seems to have the attention span of a gnat. Which doesn't bode well for any long-term pronouncements.
@@asajayunknown6290 Tesla battery warranty is 8 yrs/120,000 miles. There are quite a few Teslas out there with 200,000 miles, still on original battery. And they're mostly older battery tech. ..... If what Elon says is true, then I'll only get 500,000 miles on my engineering, the way I drive. I often do a fast acceleration that electric motors give. That feeling of getting shot out of a cannon. Instant torque. They have to be engineered to a higher level to take that incredible torque.
Amazing vid! Great comparison! As a loyal Cadillac customer for many years who in the past year switched to Tesla M3, I was driving a XT4 prior; I was contemplating a Lyriq, however I am so glad I watched to the end because I just couldn’t with the charging situation. I already have wait times at some 250kwh Tesla charging stations.
it is not as bad as you think. It's unfortunate for her and the charging station. Tesla does a better job with their stations but the true solution is have a home charging station. I have purchased a lyriq and do not have the problems that she had identified in the video. this was a great video overall.

The frunk is incredibly useful. Some you park awkwardly in a crowded parking garage making the trunk unavailable. I put my swimming snorkelling gear for three in the frunk.
I know 2 people that wanted the lyric. They gave up and went with Ys. The two owners of the Lyric I spoke with both had massive problems. Hopefully Gm will work that out. It is a beautiful car at a fair price……… if you can get one at sticker.
@@norwegianblue2017 I purchased a first year 2018 Tesla 3. 100,000 unit vin. At the end of 2018. The most reliable automobile I have ever owned. Even more reliable than my 2021 end of a 20 year production run. Although my Tesla has only 110k miles vs the 340k on my Jeep.
When EA adopts the NACS system, is it really going to instantly make everything work? I highly doubt it. The NACS is just the delivery connector. The issue with EA, as far as I can tell with the limited (horrible) experiences I've had with it, it's the network/software that is the issue. And a simple changing of the connectors won't fix that. But that's just my thought on it all.
I don't think that's what she meant. When the car has NACS, you can use the Tesla SuperChargers, which are way more reliable. Reliability of EA with NACS is going to be the same as EA with CCS.
All EA stations are always at a minimum 25% broken. Usually 50% broken. Them trying to get it to actually work and charge reliably is another problem. I'm summer's EA is even worse.
When NIO comes to the US, they'll bring their battery swap technology with them. Then we'll see who wins. Finding a charger and dealing with unreliable charging rates or pulling up to a swapping station and be back on the road in 5 minutes with a fully charged battery. Which one would you pick?
Very well done. Unbiased review. I liked how you pointed out the fit & finish of the car from legacy auto makers. Software is an issue from GM. State of charge had a camera warning that wouldn’t go away. He got great mileage from the vehicle. He charge it from zero & max was 179 for 10 mins. He showed grafts of his car. it went up & down but minimum at maximum wattage. Interior is busy for me but I did like the seats & comfy ride. 0:01 too many buttons/knobs to wear out & get broken. American luxury for sure. I’m happy with my Tesla. Minimum repairs & very reliable. Except for tires & insurance, very affordable.
Only a Tesla owner would compare a Tesla Model Y to a Cadillac. The comparison should be Genesis GV70 vs. Cadillac Lyriq. Far as the tech, most EVs have tech that the Tesla doesn't even offer.
Excellent unbiased review from an EV enthusiast formerly known as Like Tesla. As a Tesla fanboy, I feel they over estimate range, while most other companies under estimate and over deliver. My model S LR gets well under 400 mi while the EQS 580 delivers well over 400 miles, peaking at 459 for me. Kudos to separating tech, premium, and luxury vehicles. While models S/X have a premium or luxury price, they are not, just tech cars. To achieve luxury, it requires ambient lighting, massage seating, metal vs plastic, and more features.
have you ever thought that you pay so much for luxury cars and yet you are not getting the technical features (speed of the charging, reliability for its battery, software ext.) that Tesla offers. Those luxury brands have long way to go to catch Tesla
NACS is only the plug. Those chargers will still be problematic even with the NACS plug. Unless they get the charging network upgraded and integrated it will never be as good as Tesla.
Oh, that’s what biodefense mode is for! Anyway, I agree that the Supercharger system is one of the main selling points for Tesla. And, though the Tesla is not a luxury car, it’s comfortable enough, with tons of storage space and decent range. Would I want 350 miles of range instead of about 280 (real world, Model Y LR)? That would be nice, but it still wouldn’t get me LA to SF without charging. I doubt that I would ever pay even 4k for SuperCruise, and surely not 6k or 15k for enhanced Autopilot or Full Self Driving. Great review of the Lyriq, I would wait on NACS, too.
Excellent video. I think I will wait to 2025 to by Lyriq since I have Model 3 Charger in my home. Does the phone app allow you to do things like pre-heat/ cool car ? Please advise me
Love the lyriq , the charging is a big issue. I drive 25k miles a year and electrify América is the most unrieable thing out there right now. Plus the door handles for the 23 is awful. we'll wait a little longer. Happy with the Y for now.
Gee thanks, Kim. When I woke up this morning and put on my CyberTruck T-shirt, I took a minute to think about how I cannot wait for production to start. Fast forward to this afternoon and watching your review. Never thought I'd say... Maybe I want a Caddy? It's a *no* right now. Charging is a deal breaker. But in a year or two? sigh. First world problems.
You're driving a BASE Lyriq. No ventilated seats, no massage seats, no power moonroof, no supercruise... I have a LUXURY 3 - FULLY LOADED with 22's. $77,000 + $5500 tax...+ $1700 Wheel and tire protection. The thing feels like a Mercedes S-class inside when you have the lighter color/ off white interior. Right now Cadillac is giving $7500 cash off the Lyriq. As for the charging experience: I got 2 years of free EV-Go, but I have a STEP-2 40 AMP wall charger at home that recharges my Lyriq whilst I sleep.
This is a great first generation EV by GM under the Cadillac Brand. I was a skeptic of their ultium platform but looks like they've done a good job. Tesla still wins in my book for now due to slightly better efficiency, Cheaper price, front trunk and NACS. Until GM moves to NACS and adds a front trunk i think they'll still have a tough time. That being said im encouraged moving forward. I personally will wait until their 2nd Gen Lyriq before considering getting one.
I'll say one thing, Cadillac definitely brings the luxury feeling on the interior compared to Tesla vehicles. I was going to ditch my Model Y when my Lyriq was ready but the inflated price was NUTS and small things annoy me about the vehicle 1. The looonnngg hood with no frunk and 2. Lack of 3rd row. I'll wait for Gen 2 that utilizes the Tesla charging port and has a little more refinement.
The market has many great EVs (Taycan, Rivian as examples) - all are hobbled by the same issue: a terrible CCS charging infrastructure. Electrify America is holding back so many companies right now. The switch to NACS cannot come fast enough. Meanwhile, just get a Tesla.
The response to dieselgate as a punitive gesture , supposed to help Americans transition to electric vehicles , has ironically been discouraging them.😢
The Cadillac Celestiq is no prize! Selling for $340K supposedly “hand made? Or hand crafted?” Who cares?! The Cadillac Celestiq is a poor excuse for a Cadillac! Does it have a frunk? The Cadillac Lyriq doesn’t! However it’s a great looking Jensen Interceptor! A British hand made car with an American V8 engine!
While Tesla is producing close to 1,000,000 (one million) Model Ys, GM has only made 2000 Lyriqs this year. And GM loses a ton of money for each Lyriq sold.
I've test driven both cars and there is no comparison. Lyriq us far more luxurious. It has both tech and old style built in. The Tesla was a very cold tinny car to be in. I've just ordered my Lyriq.😊
Kim, you AND your family are simply amazing. BRILLIANT mix of great car info and real-world application. You should have 1million+ subscribers. You will eventually!
Beautiful SUV and the price... not bad at all... and 300 plus miles is more than enough for anyone that will last 10 or more days for normal daily driving
Thanks for the honest, real-world review of the Lyriq. You provided a lot of useful information. During my showroom visit, I found the jeweled knobs and dials of the Lyriq to be a bit tacky (not my style) but the overall build quality seems lightyears ahead of my Model Y. Cheers!
Thanks for the great review! I think the charging issue is temporary and certainly not a deal breaker for those who can charge at home - primarily using the SUV as an "in town" sports shuttle car. This thing looks a zillion times better than my MYP and is fast enough. But what ADM will dealers charge? It's already low $70s with an AWD Level 2 spec for me. No way in hell I would pay $80k with ADM!
There are dealers that don't charge ADM! I originally was going to buy my '23 lyriq in houston,tx but they wanted 10k ADM i switched my order to another dealer in Galveston, tx, and no markup!
I was impressed with the interior of the Lyric. I considered changing from my Buick Enclave Avenir to a model Y but the Buick's interior was nicer so I'm going to wait. Perhaps Tesla will offer a luxury interior option.
"not biased towards Tesla" pointing out how a $10,000+ higher base price vehicle is more luxurious and has a smoother ride quality? That's like comparing a Mazda Miata to a Nissan Maxima and making notes on how much more convenient it is to get into the back seats and how much more practical and comfortable it is.
The problem I have with this review is, you may as well compare ICE cars to Teslas that are in the same price point. The difference is the drive train. How does it charge? What is the UX like? What is the interface like?
Nice video. Informative and well-presented. The Lyric isn’t cheap, but it’s price premium is lower than the traditional Cadillac premium, and it looks like a premium car. The Lyric is union-made, and as a union guy, that means something to me.
It looks really nice but it's impossible to compare them fairly based on price because you know GM is losing at least $40K per EV if Ford is. So really it's a +$100K vehicle for them just to break even.
that is really unfortunate, we need better competition in the space to produce higher quality LOWER priced electric vehicles. I was stuck with buying the Model y because it was the only sensible EV option for me
Sandy Munro coined Tesla's innovation "as moving at the speed of thought." No other legacy company has this mindset right now. Implementing 27 software and/or hardware changes a day. GM Lyriq is a decent car, but to remain competitive they need to adopt better strategies or this is just the tip of the iceberg losing money on EVs. AI is advancing rapidly and waiting to implement change is a costly one. It's just like when the internet first began many companies failed because they were unwilling to adopt and now history will repeat itself.
Charging these things is of primary importance and only Tesla impresses me as being seriously interested enough to solve any and all charging-related problems which come up. That's taking leadership and the leader deserves the lion's share of the business.
Great video!! One thing I'll never understand about the MY and M3 is they don't have satellite radio! I'm not sure how they can be considered to be premium/luxury/tech cars without something that has been standard in almost every car for the last 20 years.
Most people who buy Lyriqs will not need a frunk for their little kids' junk. Caddy styling and luxury blows away the frumpy and dour Y. Caddy has a shade for the glass roof (duh!) that Tesla lacks, and regen paddles, and real buttons and switches, and a speedometer and more right in front of the driver. Supercruise works better than FSD, and Caddy is supremely smooth and quiet whilst driving and does not rattle and shake like the poorly assembled Y. NO CONTEST.

And yet the model X’s interior feels so cheap compared to the Lyriq.
I love a real dashboard with character.
Nice to see a regular family with kids. Many electric car reviews feature only adults or older kids, but younger children feature unique challenges. The only part you missed in this review was cleaning the car after your trip. :)
Haha…very true, will include that in the bloopers next time😂
The lyriq, is far far more detailed. As far as a frunk it's unnecessary loading and unloading honestly is a chore and the slightest mistake will leave ugly marks on face of any vehicle. Build quality will just about always go to GM over Tesla so would long term dependability after watching so many Tesla disintegrate with just 50k miles.
I owned a Tesla Y, is fun to drive BUT NEVER compares with a Cadillac quality, ride, finishes and materials...Looking forward to test the Lyriq
Love my 2024 Lyriq!
There’s an adapter you can buy separately so you can use Tesla chargers. If I were to buy a Lyriq, I’d definitely be buying the adapter.
3:57 The charge door opening mechanism looks arthritic when it opens 😂
100% agree with your assessment of Model Y“luxury” vs Lyriq. The Model Y is most certainly not a luxury vehicle. It is a minimalist tech car that offends my Cadillac driving grandparents in every possible way.
Exactly 😊. New generation of an old generation classic. Gets better aerodynamics than past years but keeps the bling. Gains the smooth and silent benefit of electric power.👍🏽😊
I just had my first Electrify America experience. Kim, mine was an even worse nightmare. Tesla charging is so much easier
Buy a adaptor for Tesla charge stations
Not comparable. The Lyriq is so much more car. Battery range is far above the 314 mile range on the hwy. It drives like a Caddy. It feels like a Caddy. And the ride quality is superb. I drove them both. The Tesla is OK. The Caddy is fantastic...especially in Nimbus Blue.
In Canada, a fully loaded AWD Lyriq is $88k vs $68k for fully loaded long range Model Y. I like a lot of things about the Lyriq but $20k more is very hard to justify.
I know it’s a pile of junk that will break
I test drove the Lyriq and i was impressed. It is smooth and handled very well. The interior is gorgeous. ❤❤❤
It costs GM about $100K to build.
The money is in the charging and energy credits not the cars.
I love my 2024 Lyric. It's the best. So much fun to drive and absolutely 💯 luxurious. So many compliments on the looks.
Thank you for being unbiased even though you own 2 Teslas. Greatly appreciate Your family videos, seems like it always made with love and joy!
I use the front trunk all the time! I put take out food in there. My M3 is 7 months old and it still smells brand new. And I’m not a parent 😊
I use my Model Y frunk every day. Having a frunk is a huge plus for me.
I was thinking the same thing, should have been an X to Lyric comparison.
You’re right. Most people pick on Tesla when it comes to build quality but if you start to really pay attention to other brands you find lots of build quality problems such as big gaps and defects everywhere but no one talks about them as much as Tesla’s. 😣
Tesla is news, especially if it's bad news.
Telsa build quality is a old solved problem thanks to their mega castings. Sandy Monroe on Tesla panel gaps a few years ago: "So big you can see them from space". Sandy Monroe on Tesla build quality a few months ago: "Rolls Royce/Bentley build quality".
I never associated Tesla with build quality 💀.
@@tjhouston1280 Cadillacs have not had good build quality since the early 1960’s before everything was cheapened in every division of GM.

I'd like to get a Lyriq, but I will not be in the market for one for 3-4 years. Hopefully by then they will better organized.
I wouldn't sell a Cadillac to someone who doesn't use punctuation.

Lyric: 5700 lbs and 102 kWh pack
Model Y: 4555 lbs and 81 kWh pack.
Both around 300-350 range.
Seems pretty clear to me which is the better machine
I LOVE MY LYRIQ No issue whatsoever. Best car I ever owned 😍
I hope it was spellcheck that mucked that one up.
Thanks for the comment on the Lyriq range - my MYLR seems much less efficient- do you have the efficiency data?
The lyric looks closer in size to the model X, definitely bigger than the Y, what's the price? Wheelbase is longer as well.
Strange that interior space is more in the Tesla 🤔. Tardis tech?😊
It’s so ugly. What’s with all the knobs and buttons
It gives you a lot for your money, and no buyer would need to make excuses as to why they chose it.
great job... in spite of all the luxury, but the charging is a hard pass for me. i'll stay with Tesla. Going on my 4th now.
Electrify America, never disappoints to disappoint. Great review, especially for families. I agree, the Escalade would be something to see.
Has been our experience too.
Another great and impartial review. The good, the bad and the Ugliness.
Thanks for wearing a great microphone, really good audio.
And the reliability of the battery pack, considering GM's history with Bolt!!!
Service? EVs are like cellphones, made to be "disposable".😞

@@777Outrigger yeah. That's what they say. If Tesla would warranty them for that long, I'd believe it. At this point, I feel the jury is still out.
I know 2 people that wanted the lyric. They gave up and went with Ys. The two owners of the Lyric I spoke with both had massive problems. Hopefully Gm will work that out. It is a beautiful car at a fair price……… if you can get one at sticker.

Nice looking Cadillac. Not a fan of many LED lights as they fail and replacement is expensive
Is it really efficient, or does it just have a huge battery?
Huge battery
Cadillac is way better looking and has physical buttons.
Glad to see Cadillac is making such a big effort at EVs. I'm not a fan of all the glitz. I'll be keeping my Model X.
GM will pull out of EV at the first sign of weakness in the Feds determination to make it happen.
The lyriq is a rolling work of art.
NACS is only the plug. Those chargers will still be problematic even with the NACS plug. Unless they get the charging network upgraded and integrated it will never be as good as Tesla.
This is probably the best and more detailed lyriq review on the internet!!
Bio defence is so right. 😂 Fast food in the frunk is a definite advantage as well. Getting rid of that next morning fragrance 🤭.
that was an amazing video, I definitely prefer the cadillac over the boring Tesla. I agree the NACS will be a game changer for many automaker

Thank you Kim for your honest opinion of the Cadillac lyriq and with kids you definitely need biodefense mode!😂

Thanks for a solid review. What was your overall avg consumption and what was it for the road trip/highway?
Cadillac over Tesla any day. If I want to drive a Hyundai type of finish car, I will drive a Tesla.
The response to dieselgate as a punitive gesture , supposed to help Americans transition to electric vehicles , has ironically been discouraging them.😢
Great video - thank you. Quick question: Can you charge it at home overnight? Do you have to go to a charging station?
If you have a lvl 2 charger you can charge it over night. If you just have a 110 wall outlet you will get 30-40 miles of rang in an evening.
There’s no better suspension or ride than a Cadillac
The Cadillac Celestiq is no prize! Selling for $340K supposedly “hand made? Or hand crafted?” Who cares?!

Cheers!
Glad it was helpful!
Jewelled knobs, tacky or not, are still better than no knobs.
I'm curious as to your thoughts on why someone would buy a Chevy Equinox when the pricing is so similar, and they seem to be about the same size?
Base Model Y, with incentives, can be had for less than 40k.

They had everything right except the rear end lol.....but yeah way better than the Tesla overall
How often do you charge away from home?
It looks really nice but it's impossible to compare them fairly based on price because you know GM is losing at least $40K per EV if Ford is. So really it's a +$100K vehicle for them just to break even.
that is really unfortunate, we need better competition in the space to produce higher quality LOWER priced electric vehicles. I was stuck with buying the Model y because it was the only sensible EV option for me
As long as GM has union contracts and dealers they'll never compete with Tesla which has neither.
@@Dive-Bar-Casanovaagree! There will always be mark ups in the dealership structure. Its how they feed themselves.
Wrong way to look at it. Low volume at first makes it a loss. It took Tesla many years to be profitable- so same thing.
NO CONTEST.
